Under the big tree, He Meng’s face was full of rage, his hand clutching the longbow trembling uncontrollably with anger.

Earlier, Xia Chuan and Luo Yuan, he hadn’t clearly seen their faces.

He could only vaguely determine from their clothing that they might be from Great Xia, but he wasn’t sure yet.

However, when he saw Xia Hong in a black cape appearing next to Luo Yuan, along with the slender long knife in Xia Hong’s hand, he immediately understood:

He had been ambushed.

“Boss, those two beasts are almost here, we won’t make it if we don’t retreat!”

Hearing the member’s shout, He Meng first glanced at the two torches on the ground, then turned his head, taking a quick look at Teng Jiao who was on the verge of death and Thunder Kui who was already dead, and gritted his teeth in hatred:

“Ignore them for now, everyone disperse, run out!”

If it were only Snow Mane and Frost Wolf coming alone, he wouldn’t fear them at any time, and if the Hunting Team were at full strength, even facing both simultaneously, he would dare to use these people to try and maneuver.

But of all times, they came now!

The Hunting Team members had already fought three battles in succession, not only sacrificing some people, but most were injured, and supplies and arrows were already severely lacking.

He Meng, no matter how confident, dared not remain here any longer.

After saying this, he took the lead and ran around to the north side.

The other twenty or more people also scattered, some running north and some south to save their lives, among them seven or eight carrying someone on their backs, whose condition was unknown if alive or dead.

“Great Xia, Great Xia, I will make you pay, ah…”

As he ran, He Meng roared with anger, uncontrollably glancing several times in the direction where Xia Hong and his group were on the east side, his eyes filled with fury and hatred.

This night, which was supposed to yield four Intermediate Cold Beasts as prey,

was completely disrupted by Xia Hong and his group.

…

Not far away, watching He Meng have his men split up and flee, abandoning all the prey on the ground at that moment, Xia Hong and the others all broke into smiles.

“Indeed, he thought the two Cold Beasts were after Thunder Kui and Teng Jiao.”

“Hahaha, these torches are truly the ultimate weapon of our camp!”

Hearing the banter of Xia Chuan and Luo Yuan, Xia Hong couldn’t help but smile.

However, seeing He Meng and the others completely scattered and fleeing, and Snow Mane and Frost Wolf each catching up with a torch, he immediately said to the two behind him:

“Go to the flanks, use the same method to lead Snow Mane and Frost Wolf away.”

“Yes, leader!”

Xia Chuan and Luo Yuan nodded in agreement, immediately splitting up, one heading south and the other north, each circling to the flanks of Snow Mane and Frost Wolf.

Because the spots where the two torches landed were very close, the two Cold Beasts that had already touched the torches were nearly face-to-face at that point.

“Aow…”

“Roar…”

Snow Mane and Frost Wolf, showing obvious hostility toward each other, displayed expressions of enjoyment when they touched the torches, but soon awakened, quickly snatched up the torches, then lifted their heads to stare at each other, emitting low growls of anger simultaneously.

The sound was laden with a clear threat.

Evidently, they were both expressing their claim to the torches’ ownership.

“Roar…”

But at this moment, a third voice sounded.

Only, this third voice was entirely different from the first two in momentum, clearly weak, carrying a sense of powerlessness, even somewhat intimidating without force.

It was that severely injured, near-death Teng Jiao.

Strangely, even as Teng Jiao issued a warning to the two Cold Beasts vocally, its eyes were fixated intently on the torches in their mouths too, revealing an obvious yearning.

Snow Mane and Frost Wolf simultaneously turned to gaze at Teng Jiao and the already dead Thunder Kui behind it, a glint of bloodthirsty desire in their eyes.

Clearly, they realized that Teng Jiao’s condition was dire.

The deceased Thunder Kui behind Teng Jiao also held an allure for them.

“Wouldn’t the lure of the torches be stronger than that of Teng Jiao, to you both?”

Standing atop a large tree not far away, Xia Hong first glanced at the three Cold Beasts, then cast his gaze to both sides, a hint of anticipation on his face.

With He Meng’s group having fled, the surrounding snowy forest had already fallen silent, aside from the low growls as the three Cold Beasts probed each other, no other sounds could be heard.

Suddenly, about a hundred meters behind both Snow Mane and Frost Wolf, small fires sprang up once more.

As soon as the two flames rose, the two Cold Beasts seemed to sense something, swiftly turning to look, greed flashing in their pupils.

Even the critically wounded Teng Jiao couldn’t help but turn to see.

“It’s settled!”

Seeing the reaction of the three Cold Beasts, Xia Hong knew the plan had succeeded.

On the north and south sides, the small fires suddenly appeared as if someone had added a large bundle of wood, shooting up two to three meters; the flames suddenly expanding, exceptionally prominent in the still snow-covered forest.

Most crucially, the two clusters of fire rapidly moved further to the north and south, as if fleeing.

The Frost Wolf and Snow Mane, already anxious at the sight of a torch, couldn’t contain their greed any longer, both turning to rush toward the large fire behind them.

“Everyone, shoot Teng Jiao, it might be poisonous, don’t engage in close combat!”

The moment Snow Mane and Frost Wolf simultaneously ran away, Xia Hong immediately rushed forward, nocking an arrow on his bow while also summoning Zhao Long and the dispersed Hunting Team members in the surrounding trees to shoot Teng Jiao together.
