I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 819: Chapter 63: Until Next Time!

The first of the four national derbies has already concluded.

When Mourinho appeared, all cameras and microphones were aimed at this Portuguese man.

Judging from Mourinho’s expression, he didn’t seem too pleased with this match.

Mourinho had reason to be unhappy with the outcome of this match, after all, Real Madrid was the first to take the lead in the first half, and if they could defeat Barcelona, Real Madrid could practically declare the league championship in advance.

Entering the press conference, Mourinho looked displeased, as he was very dissatisfied with the main referee Fernandez. The referee not only awarded Barcelona a penalty but also sent off Albiol.

Mourinho expressed his unhappiness: ”I’m fed up with always having to play against Barcelona with 10 men!”

Mourinho also sarcastically added, ”Even with 10 men, we played well. We were well-prepared for this scenario. With one less player, we hoped to play more directly with Cristiano up front.”

All in all, Mourinho was in a bad mood.

Before the match, Mourinho had his assistant Kalanca answer questions at the press conference, which caused dissatisfaction among many journalists, with half of them, mostly Spanish, choosing to leave the press conference early.

This time after the match, when answering the first question, Mourinho was almost furious, shouting at the questioning journalist: ”Are you the head of your media? If you don’t want to talk to my assistant, then I only want to talk to your boss. I only answer questions from journalists who respect Kalanca. Kalanca has followed the club to an European championship, and you don’t respect him enough.”

As expected, Mourinho didn’t answer that journalist’s question, and when he responded to another journalist, he said, ”In a situation with 11 versus 11, both teams on the pitch are evenly matched. Both sides respect their opponents, knowing they are strong. There aren’t many opportunities, and then, as it has happened many times before, playing with 10 against 11, the task becomes impossible for most teams because Barcelona is unbeatable with ball control, although today they too encountered difficulties. Once again, we were down to 10 men, for a long time. Once again, the refereeing standard was unbelievable. I don’t understand why Albiol was sent off, and Alves wasn’t even given a yellow card or sent off. I asked the fourth official, and he told me it’s because Alves is a full-back....”

Mourinho stated that Real Madrid played well even with only 10 men because the team was prepared, ”I tried to make the team withdraw a bit, play more directly. With the fans’ support, we tied the game and almost won.”

”Maybe this is a draw we have to accept, but I hope the next time we play Barcelona, they can taste playing with 10 men, but clearly whether in Spain or Europe, that will never happen.”

”Alright! My conclusion is that we know, if it’s 11 versus 11, we have the ability to compete with the best team in the world. But once again, we’re forced to play with 10 men, and it’s not just for the last 5 minutes, but for a long time. Albiol, because of one foul, can’t play in the King’s Cup final.”

Regarding the King’s Cup final, Mourinho judged it would be more intense than this league match and the two Champions Cup matches.

”We will go all out to win. Real Madrid doesn’t need to study Barcelona anymore, because we already understand them. The difficulty in playing against them doesn’t lie in whether you know them, but in knowing how good they are.”

”We hope the standards are consistent. My assistant can’t even go to the sideline, yet their assistant went out two or three times. We’re not allowed to speak, while they have unbelievable control.”

”Now, we will head into the King’s Cup final with positive feelings, fans’ recognition, and great confidence.”

There were still many journalists who wanted to ask questions, but Mourinho’s response to those who had left the press conference early before the match was the same: ”I only want to talk to your boss.”

Even before the big match against Barcelona, Mourinho had told the media: If they win the century battle, he wouldn’t appear at the post-match press conference.

Thus, a draw left the journalists fortunate to finally see the ”much-anticipated” Mourinho.

However, not everyone was so happy, at least the reporter from Diario AS could hardly smile.

Finally getting a chance to ask a question, Mourinho merely gave him a cold glance: ”Didn’t you have nothing to say to my assistant (Kalanca) yesterday? Then today I have nothing to say to you. Call your boss, I’ll only talk to him.” With these words, the entire press conference burst into an uproar.

The grudge between Mourinho and the Spanish media began since last Friday’s pre-match press conference. The ”Magic Bird” had already let it be known through the press officer early in the day that he would not attend.

This might explain the crowd’s surprise when he showed up at the press conference. However, when the press officer emphasized, ”Today, Mourinho will just listen and won’t answer any questions,” the journalists were left dumbfounded.
