Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Miles York and Alice Cole Show Up at the Door

Miles York had also seen the news online and specifically came to the school to find Chloe York.

”Chloe, you’re amazing! I didn’t expect you to actually help the police bring the bad guys to justice. People online are praising you right now, calling you their idol!”

Right now, Miles looked at Chloe as if she were a lump of gold. After all, her recent heroic act of saving lives was so sensational that she had been trending online constantly. Because of this, his company had secured many more contracts, and they were already preparing to go public.

Once they went public, the York Family and the York Group would crush countless wealthy families and listed companies!

Chloe showed no warmth toward Miles and Alice Cole.

Miles nudged Alice with his elbow. Alice was unwilling, but she still put on a fawning expression. ”Yes, Chloe, you’re amazing. Mom is so proud of you.”

”Chloe, why don’t we go out for a meal together? Tell us what you’d like to eat, and your parents will treat you.”

”No need.”

”Chloe, it’s been a long time since you ate with us. No matter what, we are a family. We lived together for over ten years. How can we have no affection for each other now?”

”I thought you would understand why we don’t have any affection,” Chloe retorted.

”Oh, Chloe, these things are unavoidable. You and Brooke were switched at birth. None of us wanted this to happen, but it did. No matter what, Brooke is our biological daughter. You also know that she didn’t have a good life in your hometown, so we doted on her a bit more. And your mom—”

Miles paused and pulled Alice over, continuing to speak to Chloe. ”Your mom also felt sorry for Brooke, so her attitude toward you hasn’t been the best. But you two were mother and daughter for over a decade. Just forgive her this once, okay?”

After saying that, he looked at Chloe expectantly, hoping she would forgive them so their family could return to the way things were before.

”There’s really no need. I’m not your biological daughter, anyway. You raised me and we lived together for over ten years, but your daughter also stayed with my family for over ten years. We’re even.”

”Chloe York, don’t be ungrateful! What kind of good life did you have, and what kind of life did my daughter have? Can they even be compared?” Alice’s temper flared upon hearing Chloe’s words. Her daughter and Chloe had lived completely different lives. How could they be compared?

”Alice, if you don’t know how to speak, then shut up!” Fearing that Chloe would get angry, Miles glared at Alice with a warning look. He lowered his voice and ground out through gritted teeth, ”You’re the one who mixed up the babies. How many times do I have to remind you?”

Alice fell silent, swallowing her anger. She truly wished she could travel back in time and hold the right child.

”Chloe, you—”

Chloe cut Miles off. ”Say no more. I won’t have a meal with you. Go wherever you need to go, and don’t block my way in the future.”

With that, Chloe turned and walked toward the school. Seeing her enter the campus, Miles and Alice had no choice but to head back.

Brooke York had seen the three of them standing together. She initially thought Mr. and Mrs. York had come to find her, which made her incredibly happy.

To her surprise, the couple was only there to see Chloe. Seeing them chat with Chloe for a while, she assumed they would eventually call her. However, she watched as they went straight to their car and left after seeing Chloe.

Did this mean they favored Chloe now, treated her as their real daughter, and were going to abandon her?

The thought filled Brooke with resentment. But as something came to mind, she felt much more at ease and walked straight toward Chloe.

In the car.

”Are we really going back just like this? Since we’re already here, shouldn’t we go see Brooke?” Alice had planned to visit Brooke on this trip. After all, she rarely came to this area, and it was quite a distance from their home. She hadn’t expected Miles to get ready to head back immediately after meeting and talking with Chloe. She hadn’t even seen her daughter yet!

”Why should we see her at a time like this? What would be the point? It’s not like we’ve deprived her of anything.”

Miles was in no mood to see Brooke at all. His heart was filled with intense regret. If he had known earlier, they never would have brought Brooke back. If they hadn’t brought her back, their relationship with Chloe wouldn’t be like this today.

If Chloe truly cut ties with them in the future—or directly told everyone that she had nothing to do with the York Family—they would no longer be able to enjoy any of the benefits her fame brought.

”How can you be like this? No matter what, Brooke is our biological daughter. We finally made the trip here, only to see Chloe and not Brooke. What will Brooke think when she finds out? You know how she is. She grew up in that kind of place, so she’s naturally been sensitive since we brought her back. She’s definitely going to overthink this!”

Regardless of what Miles said, Alice directly ordered the driver to turn around. ”Mr. Hale, turn back!”

”Don’t turn back!” Miles roared.

Not daring to turn the car around, Mr. Hale continued driving back.

”Miles, you are truly blinded by profit,” Alice couldn’t help but yell when she saw his reaction. She didn’t know how Miles could be so heartless, with nothing but benefits in his eyes.

”Alice, let me tell you, now is the best chance for us to let go. We have to let Brooke know that we aren’t omnipotent. We can’t clean up her messes every time she makes a mistake. She has to learn how to deal with the consequences herself and stop making mistakes.”

Hearing Miles say this, Alice couldn’t deny that he made sense. Recently, Brooke had done plenty of things she shouldn’t have, but she messed up every single time, always leaving something behind for others to use against her.

Still, she was certain that Miles was siding with Chloe. ”If you ask me, you’re just biased toward Chloe!”

”Say what you want, think what you want. Either way, we are absolutely not going to see Brooke today!”

With that, Miles said no more. He opened his laptop and began to work.

He had taken time out of his busy schedule to come find Chloe today. The main reason was that she was so popular now. He needed to make an appearance so people wouldn’t think the York Family hadn’t seen Chloe in a long time. He had originally planned to take her out for a meal, hoping someone would secretly snap a photo and post it online, showing their family dining together.

He hadn’t expected Chloe to not fall for his trap and outright refuse to eat with them.

At this moment, Miles had no idea that because of his actions, Brooke had gone to cause trouble for Chloe again.
