Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Evan Shaw Is a Green Tea

’Chloe was the one who took Evan Shaw to the infirmary last time. Is she in the crowd today? Will she think I did this on purpose?’

At that thought, Ethan Prescott frantically scanned the bleachers for any sign of Chloe York.

The moment he spotted her, the basketball slipped from Ethan Prescott’s hand and bounced on the ground. Chloe was in the stands.

Evan Shaw didn’t answer Ethan Prescott’s question. He just kept his head down. He had already noticed Chloe was at the court, which was why he’d done it on purpose.

This was the second time. In Chloe’s eyes, Ethan surely couldn’t be a good person.

Just then, the System’s voice suddenly rang in Chloe York’s mind.

Godly Rich System: [Host, take the injured Evan Shaw to the infirmary. Reward for completion: two hundred yuan.]

Sitting in the stands, Chloe had already noticed Evan’s injury and was about to head over anyway. Hearing the Godly Rich System’s prompt, however, she felt a strange sense of déjà vu.

A familiar, trance-like feeling washed over her, pulling her back to high school in an instant.

The same kind of basketball court, the same Evan Shaw, the same way of falling, the same game against Ethan Prescott.

Back then, she had rushed over to help him up. Fate had come full circle. The exact same scene, the exact same person—it truly felt like history repeating itself.

She stood up and hurried toward the edge of the court, asking the system in her mind, ’System, you know I helped Evan back in high school, right?’

’I want to know if the system is aware of this. Can it really work like this? Helping the same person twice, so the reward can be issued twice for the same thing?’

Because Evan had taken a fall and his face was contorted in such pain, many students didn’t dare rush over and touch him, afraid they might make his injury worse.

Once they saw Chloe make a move and head straight for Evan, any lingering thoughts the other students had about helping him vanished.

Instead, they began to whisper amongst themselves, wondering if the two of them were dating.

Godly Rich System: [I am aware, Host. However, in your immediate vicinity, no one else requires your assistance except for Evan Shaw.]

’It’s not that I’m unwilling,’ Chloe thought, ’I just find it strange. The Godly Rich System hasn’t issued any missions lately, so why is the first one in a while about helping Evan again?’

’But the Godly Rich System has a point. It’s for the best that no one else needs help; it means everyone is safe and sound.’

In front of everyone on the court, Chloe helped Evan to his feet.

The instant Chloe helped Evan up, the Godly Rich System’s voice rang out.

Godly Rich System: [Congratulations, Host, on completing the mission. Reward: two hundred yuan.]

”Chloe, I... I didn’t do it on purpose,” Ethan stammered, at a loss.

But even to his own ears, his explanation sounded pathetic. This was the second time. He was starting to think Evan was a real piece of work, always playing the victim. ’Is he even a man?’

’He always falls at the most convenient time, making it look like I’m the one bullying him. If I’d known, I should have been the one to take a dive this time!’

Chloe didn’t say a word. She didn’t even spare Ethan a glance.

”Are you okay? Can you walk?” Chloe asked Evan.

If he couldn’t walk, she’d probably have to go to the infirmary and get a doctor to come to them.

”I’m okay. I’ll try to walk,” Evan said, preparing to test his leg.

”You can put your weight on me,” Chloe reminded him.

”Alright.”

Chloe helped Evan take a couple of steps. Thankfully, he could manage.

”Chloe, believe me! That guy is just playing you! He’s not even hurt,” Ethan pleaded, his stomach churning as he saw how close Evan and Chloe were.

He didn’t realize that in that moment, he was acting like a spurned lover, desperate to prove his innocence to someone who couldn’t care less.

”Ethan Prescott,” Chloe said, her voice devoid of emotion.

”You’re the one who did something wrong, so why are you acting like this? Let me ask you, who suggested this basketball game in the first place?”

Chloe didn’t need Ethan to answer. She already knew he must have been the one to suggest it.

Based on what she knew of Evan, he would never have been the one to challenge Ethan to a game.

The only possibility was that Ethan had sought out Evan and demanded a match.

And Ethan’s dumbstruck expression was all the proof she needed that he had, in fact, been the instigator.

Ethan couldn’t believe he’d shot himself in the foot so spectacularly. He had wanted to use the game to intimidate Evan and make him back off from Chloe, but instead, he had just handed his rival a golden opportunity.

After this, Chloe would probably hate him even more.

’How could I be so stupid?’ he thought. ’I should have been the one to take a fall! This was probably Evan’s plan all along. He was just waiting for me to challenge him to a game so he could ruin my image in front of Chloe.’

Chloe said nothing more and simply helped Evan walk away.

Before they left, when Chloe wasn’t looking, Evan shot Ethan a provocative glance.

It was the exact same look he had given him back in high school.

Now Ethan was absolutely furious. If he had only suspected Evan was faking it before, that look made him one hundred percent certain.

But now, Chloe wouldn’t believe a word he said.

Seeing Chloe helping Evan leave, Wendy Winters quickly followed them.

She had barely processed what had happened before Chloe rushed down and left with Campus Prince Shaw. She had to go get a closer look at the situation.

The other students glanced in the direction Chloe had gone, then back at Ethan, looking as if they had just witnessed something major.

But no one dared to gossip out loud. Ethan was still standing on the court, his head hanging low like a pitiful, abandoned puppy.

As pathetic as he looked, no one dared to approach him.

Watching Chloe take Evan to the infirmary yet again, Ethan’s heart twisted. ’I know he isn’t really hurt. He did it on purpose.’

’But Chloe doesn’t believe me. She must be disgusted with me now.’

So he stood motionless on the court, as if to punish himself.

Helping Evan the whole way was draining, and beads of sweat formed on Chloe’s temples.

Half a year had passed, and here she was, taking Evan to the infirmary again. She never would have thought that in those six months, she and Evan would have become what could be called friends.

Evan turned his head to look at Chloe’s profile. ”Chloe, sorry to trouble you again.”

”Don’t be so formal with me,” Chloe said with a smile. ”We’re friends. Of course I’m going to help you when you’re hurt. Besides, I was the one who helped you up when you fell in high school, and here I am again. If that’s not fate, what is?”

”That’s what makes it so special,” Evan said, moved. ”Twice now, you’ve always been the first person to offer me a hand. That time in high school, I thought you were going to help Ethan, but you helped me instead.”

But this time, when he saw Chloe coming, he knew with absolute certainty that she was coming for him.
