Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Make Brooke York Apologize to Chloe York

At the end of the day, Brooke York was Miles York’s biological daughter. Plus, Brooke was all grown up, nearly of marriageable age. Miles couldn’t let her be ruined, no matter what.

So, Miles York went to find Chloe York himself.

He figured if he could just get Chloe to drop the matter, the university would let Brooke off the hook.

As for Brooke York’s reputation, that was a problem for later.

At the gate of Southbend University, Miles York called Chloe York.

The phone rang for a long time with no answer. Miles York watched the call automatically disconnect, then dialed again.

At that moment, Chloe York was in a classroom, paying attention to the lecture, her phone on silent.

After several unanswered calls, Miles York subconsciously assumed Chloe York was angry. He figured she knew why he was calling and was deliberately ignoring him.

It wouldn’t be appropriate for him to just walk onto campus, especially at his age. Besides, he had no idea where Chloe York was.

So he could only go back to his car and wait. No matter what, Chloe York had to leave the campus eventually to go back to her place after class.

When Chloe York had moved over here, he had already investigated. Chloe was now living off-campus. ’It must be because of the one million I gave her,’ he thought. ’That’s how she can afford her own place.’

Meanwhile, Brooke York was still living in a school dorm.

Miles York waited for an hour. Thankfully, his patience paid off; he spotted Chloe York.

The moment he saw Chloe York, Miles York quickly got out of the car.

Just as Chloe York was about to head back, a figure suddenly blocked her path. She stopped and saw it was Miles York.

”What are you doing here?”

”Oh, Chloe, why would you say that? No matter what, you’re still my daughter, aren’t you? You’re going to school here, so of course I had to come see you!”

Miles York was suddenly playing the family card. He figured the only way to get Chloe York to soften up was to appeal to their family ties. Otherwise, he really had no idea how to make her forgive Brooke York.

”Chloe, Brooke was definitely in the wrong this time. But no matter what, you two are sisters. Can’t you just forgive her this once, please?”

Hearing this, Chloe York let out a cold laugh. ”Forgive her? She’s the one who hasn’t let me off the hook!”

’All I did this time was tell the truth. As far as I know, Brooke hasn’t even been punished yet, and I haven’t even pursued this to the end! And now Miles York is here begging me to let her go?’

”Yes, Chloe, I know what Brooke did this time was a bit much. But you know she grew up in the countryside. And even though Alice Cole was the reason you two were switched, Brooke’s life was turned upside down too. It’s normal for her to feel some resentment.”

”If she’s resentful, then she should complain to the person who caused all this, not take it all out on me. I’m innocent too, aren’t I?” Chloe York shot back.

”Yes, yes, you’re right. I’ll have a good talk with her.”

”Then go have a good talk with her.” Chloe York didn’t want to say any more. Just as she was about to leave, Miles York blocked her again.

This time, Chloe York was getting impatient, and Miles York could see it.

”How about this, Chloe? You can name your price. As long as it’s something I can do, I’ll definitely agree to it, provided you forgive Brooke. After all, to the outside world, you two are still sisters. We can’t let this become a public joke, can we?”

Chloe York said nothing, a clear sign she wasn’t agreeing.

Finally, Miles York gritted his teeth. ”Alright, Chloe. I’ll give you ten percent of the York Group’s shares. How about that?”

Miles York had no other choice. Everyone knew Brooke York was his biological daughter. If that weren’t the case, he wouldn’t be willing to go to such lengths to save her reputation. But precisely because everyone knew, if Brooke’s reputation soured, his company would be affected too.

Besides, ten percent of a major corporation’s shares, for free... ’No one would refuse such a tempting offer,’ he thought. ’Chloe York should be no exception.’

Just as Miles York predicted, Chloe York’s interest was piqued when she heard ”ten percent.” With 10%, the annual dividends would be substantial. It meant she could essentially have it made after graduation.

But the shares alone weren’t enough for her.

”Alright. You want me to forgive her? It’s simple. She has to personally post on the confession wall and record a video admitting that she framed me. On top of that, give me the 10% of the shares you mentioned. If you do that, I’ll forgive her, I’ll make sure the university drops the matter, and I won’t pursue it any further. We’ll call it even.”

”Fine, fine, fine. No problem. I’ll make her apologize to you. I’ll arrange a meeting, get you two sisters face-to-face, and have her apologize.”

Hearing that Chloe York wouldn’t pursue it, Miles York breathed a sigh of relief.

’In any case, Chloe York is my daughter too,’ he reasoned. ’Giving the shares to her is like keeping it in the family, not giving it to an outsider. There’s still a long time to go. Maybe one day I can get those shares back.’

Even though Chloe York was his daughter now, he wanted to keep all the shares in his own hands—whether from Chloe or Brooke York—as long as he hadn’t stepped down.

Since he had settled things with Chloe York, Miles York didn’t hesitate. He rushed to his company to prepare the 10% stock transfer agreement.

He was afraid that the longer this dragged on, the more problems would arise. Especially with Brooke York, who wasn’t right in the head. What if she did something else to offend Chloe York? Or what if Chloe changed her mind and decided not to let Brooke off the hook after all? Then things would get complicated all over again.

As soon as the 10% stock transfer agreement was ready, Miles York took it and went to find Chloe York again to have her sign it.

Chloe York hadn’t expected him to be in such a hurry; she’d thought it would take at least a couple of days.

Without hesitation, she signed her name on the stock transfer agreement. She was now a shareholder of the York Group.

Seeing Chloe York sign her name, Miles York broke into a smile. ”In that case, Chloe, I’ll set a time for Brooke to apologize to you. Our family can also have a nice meal together.”

”Sure!” Thinking of the shares, Chloe York readily agreed.

Hearing Chloe York agree, Miles York was happy. After saying goodbye to her, he rushed back to the York family home.

Everything was prepared and taken care of. All that was left was for Brooke York to apologize to Chloe York, and the matter would be over.

「The York Residence」

When Miles York got home, he cut right to the chase and told Alice Cole to persuade Brooke York to apologize to Chloe York.

”What did you say? You want me to apologize to Chloe York? Impossible! Why should I apologize to her?”
