The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The Clown Demon Hunter

Dongcheng District, underground parking garage.

Several police cars, their lights flashing, were parked in the garage.

Numerous police officers in uniform were on site.

They had cordoned off the area with police tape.

A crowd of curious onlookers craned their necks, trying to get a glimpse inside.

They wanted to see the Scavenger who had been devoured by a Demon last night...

”How many has this been?” Tang Zhan asked, his expression grave.

A middle-aged police officer stood before him, replying with an equally grim look, ”Since three in the morning, this is the second case of a Demon attack.

But in that same time, at least a dozen Demons have been killed!”

”A dozen Demons killed?”

Tang Zhan’s expression shifted slightly. ”Don’t tell me it was Old Chu and his crew again?”

”No, it wasn’t Captain Chu and his men.

It seems to be someone from the Demon Hunting Institute...”

”The Demon Hunting Institute?” Tang Zhan was taken aback.

The middle-aged officer nodded. ”We’ve pulled the surveillance footage from the parking garage last night. It was someone in a clown mask who killed a Pig Demon!”

”Besides this location, footage from three other places confirms it was the same person!”

”And we found a witness, a homeless man, who said he personally saw someone in a clown mask kill a Dog Demon last night!”

After the middle-aged officer finished, Tang Zhan showed no sign of surprise.

The Demon Hunting Institute was a quasi-official department.

Its main purpose was to issue Demon Hunting missions.

The source of these missions was the Martial Arts Police Station itself.

To put it bluntly, the Martial Arts Police Station would investigate cases during the day and gather information on the culprits.

Then, they would send it to the Demon Hunting Institute to be published as a mission to hunt the Demon.

This gave rise to the term ”civilian Demon Hunters.”

The reason they all wore masks was varied; some didn’t want their true faces seen.

Others were afraid of retaliation from the Demons.

After all, social Demons like Cat Demons, Dog Demons, and Mouse Demons would launch reprisal attacks if one of their own was killed.

However, most Demon Hunters were more wary of their peers.

Oftentimes, humans were more terrifying than Demons.

Incidents of them murdering others for their loot were common.

Wearing a mask helped avoid a lot of trouble.

After all, they were just civilian Demon Hunters and had no official protection.

Therefore, only by being cautious and prudent could one survive in this chaotic Old District.

Some Demon Hunters would even buy multiple masks and switch them out frequently.

This was to prevent being targeted by people with ulterior motives...

So, Tang Zhan wasn’t surprised by the appearance of a Demon Hunter in a clown mask. But the fact that this person had killed so many Demons in a single night suggested it wasn’t just about completing a mission. It seemed he was hunting for the sake of the hunt itself...

”Never mind. Take the body back for processing.

As for those civilian Demon Hunters, as long as they aren’t breaking the law, let them kill as many Demons as they want!”

”It saves us a lot of trouble anyway!”

After Tang Zhan spoke, the middle-aged officer nodded. ”Right, I’ll have them take the body back!”

Tang Zhan said nothing more, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he walked toward his pickup truck.

「...」

Videos of the clown-masked Demon Hunter killing over a dozen Demons in one night spread like wildfire online.

In the underground parking garage, the clown-masked Demon Hunter had killed a Pig Demon with a single slash.

Many netizens were thrilled by it.

In addition, three other videos were leaked one after another.

The content was similar to the parking garage footage.

The clown-masked Demon Hunter cleanly and decisively slew three Demons.

Within an hour, the videos were reposted over ten thousand times.

Likes and comments numbered in the hundreds of thousands.

This brought the usually quiet corner of the internet dedicated to the Old Town District to life.

At that moment, Lin Yi was sitting on a bus, heading toward the Martial Arts Hall.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a series of notifications.

He took out his phone and saw that the [Demon Hunting Squad] group chat had exploded.

Blade: This clown is famous now?

Little Shrimp: The clown Demon Hunter? Couldn’t be someone from our group, could it? @Mr. Clown

Ranger: @Mr. Clown, hurry up and clear the air.

Lao Gao: This clown Demon Hunter is a real role model. His kills are so clean and his technique is sharp.

Charlatan: @Mr. Clown, is that you? It’s definitely you, come out and let us worship you...

Lin Yi clicked on the videos and watched each one.

Yes, that was him.

He could accept that the underground parking garage and a residential complex had surveillance cameras.

But he truly hadn’t expected to find a security camera installed in a dilapidated alleyway.

The four videos of him slaying Demons were a bit blurry, but they had still captured his clown mask.

Lin Yi felt a bit helpless about this.

But it was just Demon Hunting. A kill was a kill, and even the Martial Arts Police Station wouldn’t interfere.

In fact, they encouraged continuing to hunt Demons.

If all the Martial Artists in Xinghai City could come out and hunt Demons, it would help restore peace to the city and give the citizens a greater sense of security.

However, Lin Yi had no intention of admitting in the group chat that he was the clown Demon Hunter.

He decided not to reply at all.

Although they were all in the same group, they had never met each other in person.

He had only met Lao Sheng and Snow Angel.

He didn’t know what the others were like, whether they were good or bad.

’It’s never wrong to be a little more cautious.’

Suddenly, a private message came in.

Lin Yi glanced down; it was a message from Snow Angel.

Snow Angel: You were too careless. Why did you upload the videos to the internet?

Lin Yi: ...I didn’t upload them. I have no idea what happened.

Snow Angel: It wasn’t you? Then someone is deliberately trying to harm you!

Lin Yi: Deliberately? What do you mean?

Snow Angel: You think only we have Demon Hunters? They have kill orders for humans, too. If they see that you’ve killed this many Demons... you’d better be careful.

Snow Angel’s warning made Lin Yi’s eyes narrow.

According to her, someone had uploaded the videos of him hunting Demons to the internet.

This was tantamount to exposing him.

’So they can provoke the Demons’ wrath, leading them to issue a kill order for me?’

’Who on earth would want to harm me like this?’

Besides, Lin Yi hadn’t made any enemies out there.

Except for Lin Dazhi, Lin Yu, and Liu Hongmei’s family.

’But what means would they have to find these videos?’

’Especially since they have no idea that the person in the clown mask is me...’

He mulled it over for a long time but came to no conclusion.

Lin Yi quickly replied: Okay, I’ll be careful!

Snow Angel said nothing more and didn’t reply again.

However...

「Martial Arts Police Station.」

Just as Tang Zhan returned to his office to take a break, the door was suddenly kicked open.

Tang Zhan jumped in fright, nearly leaping out of his skin.

He quickly turned to see Chu Zhengxiong storming in, his face livid with anger.

”Old Chu? Are you crazy? Can’t you knock before entering an office?”
