The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Panicked Old Lin, It Wasn’t a Dream

Early morning.

6:18 AM.

Lin Dazhi, who had been out cold all night.

He sat up abruptly, his eyes darting around in terror.

He found himself lying in bed.

”Was I dreaming last night? Ouch...”

Suddenly, a sharp pain in his left eye socket made his expression change.

He quickly grabbed his phone, opened the camera app, and took a look.

His eye socket was bruised purple and badly swollen.

Only then did he realize that what happened last night was definitely not a dream.

Looking panicked, he scrambled out of bed and rushed out of the room.

”You’re awake?”

When he reached the living room, he saw Liu Hongmei cooking in the kitchen.

Lin Yu was already in his school uniform, sitting at the dining table.

”Dad? What happened to you?”

He glanced back, noticed the bruise around Lin Dazhi’s eye, and quickly asked.

Lin Dazhi looked at Lin Yu with a flicker of terror in his eyes.

Then he looked at Liu Hongmei.

”Last night... did someone come into the house?”

The moment he said it, Lin Yu looked utterly confused.

Liu Hongmei even came out of the kitchen, saying, ”What nonsense are you talking about? Do you have a fever? I was about to ask you what happened last night.”

”Why were you lying on the floor outside the bathroom? And your eye is all bruised.”

”Did you stumble into the doorframe in your sleep?”

”Bullshit!”

After Liu Hongmei finished speaking, Lin Dazhi flew into a rage.

”Even if I did hit the doorframe, it wouldn’t mess up my eye like this, would it? Xiaoyu, I’m asking you, did you go out last night or not?” Lin Dazhi glared at Lin Yu as he spoke.

He still remembered what happened last night.

Someone had clearly opened the door, come in, and gone into Lin Yu’s room.

And the living room, especially near the entrance...

...was filled with the thick smell of blood.

The next moment, without waiting for Lin Yu to answer his question,

Lin Dazhi rushed toward the entryway.

He picked up Lin Yu’s shoes and examined them closely.

The mud on them was completely gone.

”Old Lin, what’s wrong with you? Did you have a nightmare last night?”

Liu Hongmei walked over, her face full of worry.

Lin Yu lost his appetite as well and came closer to look at Lin Dazhi.

He shook his head, his eyes gradually filling with panic and unease.

”Something’s wrong... Something is definitely wrong... You two, what are you hiding from me? Last night, last night, Xiaoyu, he... he...”

Thinking of this,

Lin Dazhi could no longer control his emotions.

He remembered the moment he knocked on Lin Yu’s door last night.

He had seen Lin Yu dressed all in black, his face contorted into a savage expression.

Thick veins pulsed across his entire face like disgusting worms.

His eyes glowed with a bloodthirsty red.

In the darkness, he looked like a beast ready to devour someone.

He couldn’t forget that terrifying scene.

And even though that face was savage and horrifying, it was still Lin Yu...

”Old Lin, are you just too tired? Why don’t you take the day off from work and rest at home?”

”Dad, you’re just heartbroken because my brother ran away, aren’t you? It’s okay, I’ll go look for him at school today. If he hates me, if he left because of me, I’ll let him beat me up. I’ll convince him to come back, okay?”

Listening to their attempts to persuade him,

Lin Dazhi’s thoughts grew chaotic.

He shook his head repeatedly, offering no reply.

After a long moment, he looked at Liu Hongmei and said, ”I’m not having breakfast!”

After saying that, Lin Dazhi opened the door and left.

The moment the door slammed shut,

The expressions on Lin Yu’s and Liu Hongmei’s faces began to change.

The anxiety, concern, and confusion from just moments before vanished completely.

...

「CLICK—」

The sound of a key turning in the lock.

Lin Yi, who was in the middle of breakfast, quickly got up and walked into the living room.

He saw the main door open and Tang Qinru walk in, carrying her bag.

As soon as she entered, the strong smell of Chinese herbs filled the air.

”Hm? Why are you up so early today?”

Tang Qinru asked with a smile.

But her face was etched with exhaustion.

”Sister Qingru, you didn’t work all night, did you?”

Lin Yi asked with concern.

Tang Qinru hung her backpack on the wall.

She took off her jacket, revealing a thin blouse underneath.

Her ample chest was on full display as she nodded, ”Yeah, I’m dead tired!”

”By the way, did you eat the dinner I prepared for you last night?

It was custom-ordered Demon Beast Meat I got for you. It’s good for your cultivation!” Tang Qinru asked, her voice tinged with fatigue.

Lin Yi nodded. ”I got back too late yesterday and fell asleep before I could eat. I just heated it up... By the way, Sister Qingru, you haven’t eaten yet, have you? Why don’t you have a bite with me before you go to sleep?”

Tang Qinru shook her head. ”No, I’m not eating. I just want to sleep right now. You have to go to the Martial Arts Hall after you eat, right? Just leave the dishes there. I’ll clean up when I wake up. I’m going to my room to sleep...”

It seemed Tang Qinru didn’t want to say another word.

All she wanted was to crawl into bed and get some proper sleep.

Clearly, she had been busy the entire night without even a moment’s rest.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be this exhausted.

Lin Yi didn’t disturb her any further and went back to the dining table to finish his breakfast.

After he finished eating, he washed the dishes himself.

Then he opened the refrigerator and took out some ingredients.

Eggs, tomatoes, meat, as well as green peppers and potatoes.

Since moving in, Lin Yi had discovered that Tang Qinru was a terrible cook.

She was the kind of person who could burn a fried egg.

How could anyone expect her to whip up a gourmet meal?

And just last night, Lin Yi happened to have obtained a [House Husband] talent.

Although it was of the lowest [White] quality,

it was at least better than Tang Qinru’s cooking.

So, using the ingredients on hand, he made three dishes with the eggs, tomatoes, green peppers, potatoes, and meat.

He plated the dishes and then covered each one with a bowl.

This would prevent the heat from escaping too quickly.

If Tang Qinru woke up before noon, the food should still be warm.

If she woke up too late, she could just reheat it.

After finishing his preparations, Lin Yi changed into a sweatsuit.

Only then did he leave with peace of mind.

He arrived at the Martial Arts Hall.

The day’s training began.

When Lin Yi changed into his Martial Arts Uniform and walked into the training grounds,

Sun Tao and Hu Quan rushed over to him.

”Xiaoyi, let’s go! To the Quenching Room?”

”Everyone’s waiting! Let’s go, let’s go!”

One on his left and one on his right, they practically carried Lin Yi away.

”Hey, what for? Why the Quenching Room? I don’t feel like quenching today!”

”Come on, quenching has endless benefits for the body.

Everyone’s waiting to see if you can break your own record today!”

In the time it took to speak, they had already arrived at the main training hall.

When Lin Yi looked, he saw that the hall was already packed with many students.

The moment they saw Lin Yi,

they swarmed him as if he were a superstar.

At this moment, in their eyes,

Lin Yi was an idol to be worshipped...
