New Ability Every Ten Days: Becoming a Vampire Made Me Too OP

Qilin always recruited talent without sticking to convention. The greater one’s ability was, the greater the stage Qilin provided. Of course, as the saying went, with greater power came greater authority and with greater responsibility came greater perks.

After a round of discussion, Yu Lie, Xiao Cheng, and the other higher-ups made a few minor adjustments to Yu Xian’s status. First was Yu Xian’s ranking. They raised it directly from 6,330th to 33rd. His codename would remain unchanged for the time being, mainly because ”Salted Fish” was far too misleading. Perhaps it could even serve as a layer of camouflage for Yu Xian. Sometimes, making one’s enemy underestimate them was also an advantage.

In addition, although Yu Xian would remain in the Wickedness Purging Squad, his direct superior was changed to Xiao Cheng. He also gained the authority to refuse missions and could even forcibly terminate a mission. His safety was the top priority.

The perks structure within Qilin consists of four tiers: Basic, Elite, Pillar, and National. Originally, Yu Xian had enjoyed Basic-tier perks. Now, his perks had been raised to the Pillar tier, directly skipping over the Elite tier. This was undoubtedly a promotion that showed considerable importance.

Pillar-level perks included the most basic guarantees for housing, transportation, and medical care. On top of that, headquarters would also specially form a five-person logistics team dedicated to serving Yu Xian. As long as Yu Xian’s requests were legal, reasonable, and compliant, the logistics team had to obey his orders unconditionally and do everything possible to fulfill them.

Of course, he also had to assume some responsibility. Yu Xian needed to provide Qilin with ten spatial waypoints. Over the next period of time, Xu Hebai, the Chief of the Support Department, would personally take time out of his schedule to bring Yu Xian to the six restricted zones. There, Yu Xian would place spatial bubbles. If an emergency occurred, Yu Xian would need to send designated personnel to these locations.

Ten spatial waypoints were not many at all. Besides, Dragon-rank powerhouses could not move around freely, so in truth, this task was extremely easy. It was completely disproportionate to the perks he was receiving. However, the reason things had turned out this way was mainly his terrifying potential.

The reason for his jump to rank 33 was not only his special abilities but also his tremendous potential. If he reached Eagle rank, he would rank in the top three. And if one day he awakened Pangu Divine Strength, he would directly replace Gong Qian and rank first.

When Yu Xian walked out of Yu Lie’s office, he was still feeling dizzy. He turned toward Ether, who was beside him. ”I don’t need to take an assessment? I’m promoted to the 33rd rank just like that?”

Ether slapped his cheeks with a look of utter disbelief. ”Bro, don’t talk to me. My head is spinning, too.”

Because he had been the first to discover Yu Xian’s special ability, Ether had also received a reward. This was the first time he had ever received praise from so many big shots. So, while he was excited, he was also feeling just as light-headed as Yu Xian.

Yu Xian took a deep breath, patted his cheeks, and created a spatial bubble in front of Ether. ”Then I’ll head home first. Bye.”

Ether watched Yu Xian teleport away, then belatedly came back to his senses. ”Hey! The director explicitly said he isn’t allowed to use his bubbles whenever he wants here, only in designated areas. Why on earth did he just use one again?”

At that moment, Xu Hebai, the Chief of the Support Department, walked out. He patted Ether on the shoulder and smiled. ”It’s fine. If he’s using it for only himself, let him be.”

Right now, Yu Xian had more freedom than anyone else in Huaxia. He could truly go wherever he wanted, and headquarters had no intention of restraining him. Talent could not be kept through rules alone. Over the past several centuries, Qilin had produced countless talents. Most of them had eventually entered the Abyss and never returned. Many had also chosen to stay, but what kept them there was not rules or authority. It was mutual sincerity.

They could not very well forbid someone from using an ability he had. Yu Lie and his colleagues simply did not want Yu Xian to leave too many bubbles inside the headquarters.

After teleporting home, Yu Xian lay down on his bed and checked the Pillar-tier perks on his phone. When he was done reading through all of them, he let out a long sigh. The perks were too good. They were so good, in fact, that he felt a little guilty and even wondered whether he had enough resolve to be worthy of them.

At the same time, he was deeply moved. Yu Lie, Xiao Cheng, and the other higher-ups were sincerely looking out for him. This was not a hypocritical show of kindness where they handed out a few minor favors.

This time, Qilin’s headquarters had given him every perk they could offer, without holding anything back. Under normal circumstances, supernatural factions would always reserve part of their rewards and benefits, in case they later had nothing left to give. Qilin, however, was exchanging sincerity for sincerity. They had not considered future bargaining chips at all.

He opened the Supernatural Containment Facility’s page and carefully searched for something he could use. One of the Pillar-tier perks was that every month, he could apply to use one artifact whose side effects had already been resolved.

No. 34, codename Misfortune-Predicting Dream, was a bottle of sleeping pills. After taking one, the user could have a dream that predicted the future. However, the dream would inevitably be a nightmare. At the same time, the outcome could not be changed. Reality would unfold exactly as the situation had in the dream.

According to Qilin headquarters’ research, although these pills allowed the user to glimpse the future, they would inevitably cause the death of either the user or someone close to the user. It was an extremely unlucky item. Where it came from remained a mystery.

Later, researchers discovered a way to resolve the side effects. It was acting. If the dream showed someone dying, they would act out a scene of that person’s death. As long as the staged scene matched the dream perfectly, the predicted death could be nullified.

After reading about it, Yu Xian felt that it was far too troublesome. Besides, he did not need to know information about the future. He continued scrolling down.

No. 35, codename Self-Hypnosis Notebook, was a notebook in which someone could write down a goal, and the notebook would subtly influence the writer, slowly pushing them toward that goal. For example, someone wanting to lose weight could write down that they wanted to lose thirty-five kilograms. The notebook would push them to gradually form the habit of exercising until they successfully lost that amount.

However, one absolutely could not write down a goal they were incapable of accomplishing, such as ”I want to become a god” or ”I want to become an immortal.” Such goals would drive the writer toward certain places that contained great opportunities. If they survived, they would obtain that opportunity. If they failed, they would die.

So far, no one had successfully obtained such an opportunity. All of them had died on the way to acquiring it. As for the notebook’s side effect, it was that self-hypnosis was a lie.

In truth, all of these people would be hypnotized by the notebook. At first, users could write down their wishes with relative caution and restraint. But the more often they used the notebook, the more severely it would hypnotize them. In the end, they would completely become its puppet. By then, each wish they wrote would become more outrageous than the last, until the notebook finally played them to death.

However, the method of resolving this side effect was surprisingly simple.
