Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1305: Actionable Intel

Takezo didn’t even realize there was someone standing behind him. But when he did, it was already too late.

Splat!

A fair hand jutted out of his chest. Blood spilled from Takezo’s mouth as he lowered his head in shock. His heart was gripped tightly in the palm of this fair hand.

With bloodshot eyes, Takezo weakly turned to Adam. His lips parted... but before he could say a word, the light in his eyes had already dimmed.

He miserably collapsed to the floor with a gaping wound on his chest, and his heart was missing. The fair hand clenched his heart, then tossed it on the ground.

A moment later, a small orb of light emerged from Takezo’s corpse, then shot inside the body of his murderer—a tall figure in a dark cloak.

This newcomer’s appearance was hidden in the shadow of his hood, yet Adam already knew who it was.

The cloaked figure wiped the blood from his hand, then turned to Adam and smiled. ”It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

”...Yes, it has.” Adam’s heart churned with complicated emotions as he faced this man.

The cloaked figure awkwardly scratched his chin as he said, ”Well, this is weird.”

”...It is,” Adam succinctly replied. There were a lot of things he wished to say, but in the end, he couldn’t bring himself to say those words. ”This... ah, forget it.”

The cloaked figure chuckled. He then took a seat on a wooden crate nearby. He deeply looked at Adam standing before him and asked, ”So what have you been up to?”

”We can chat later.” Adam waved his hand dismissively. ”We should move out of here first. Also, what are we going to do with the corpses?”

”Relax.” The cloaked figure gestured. ”I’d already erected a sound barrier before the fight began. There’s nothing to worry about. As for the corpses...”

The cloaked figure stroked his chin. ”I’ll throw them in some dumpster. Or perhaps, in the sewers. Yeah, I’ll throw them in the sewers. Let the rats feast on them.”

”And the issue with the Soulmark Lantern?” Adam asked.

”Ah, don’t worry about it.” The cloaked figure shrugged. ”What’s the Ararkuro Clan going to do? Send more men after me? Well, I’ll kill them too.”

”It’ll be a problem if the Patriarch of the Arakuro Clan makes a move,” Adam muttered in a grave voice.

”I’ll deal with that as well,” the cloaked figure said nonchalantly.

Adam deeply looked at this figure, then nodded. He sat down on another wooden crate. He remained silent for a while, then asked:

”So... what have you been up to these last couple of years?”

”You really want to know?” The cloaked figure asked with a smirk.

Adam shrugged.

”Alright then...” The cloaked figure then recounted all that he had done in the recent past.

Needless to say, Adam was quite surprised by it. Towards the end, the cloaked figure passed him a scroll.

”What’s this?” Adam asked with a light frown.

”Actionable intel.” The cloaked figure grinned.

Adam nodded. ”Alright, I’ll read it later.”

He put the scroll inside Gege’s mouth. The cloaked figure glanced at Gege, then whistled. ”Interesting bag.”

”...Yeah.”

The cloaked figure asked after a pause. ”And Valerian? How is he?”

Adam remained silent for a long time. He then answered in a low voice, ”He’s sleeping.”

”I see...”

Silence descended between the two as both were lost in their own thoughts.

”What have you been up to?” The cloaked figure asked.

”Heh, you really want to know?” Adam chuckled.

The cloaked figure shrugged.

”Fine then...” Adam went on to tell him about all that he had experienced, from waking up on the shell of a giant turtle to hunting mighty beasts in Mabi. He told him almost everything.

”...Now, I’m planning to go to the Tsuitsui Clan to heal my body. And after that, well...” Adam’s last words faded off into silence.

The cloaked figure remained silent for a few moments, gazing at the bloody corpses strewn on the floor.

”Six Mana Vortex Magi of the Arakuro Clan getting murdered in the heart of Yuanshi...” the cloaked figure murmured. ”This is going to spark a war.”

”The Fourth Great War,” Adam muttered in a solemn voice.

”It can’t be helped.” The cloaked figure sighed. ”One way or another, this war was inevitable. We just expedited the process a little.”

Adam was suddenly reminded of the Lao Ren’s prophecy, the one that the Shadow Sect religiously believed in.

”The Ghost of Hoshigane would be a harbinger of change,” he murmured.

”A bloody change. I’ll give you that,” The cloaked figure scoffed as he rose to his feet.

Then, he started to clean up the mess Adam had caused. He put away all the corpses, then made sure not a single trace of battle and carnage remained.

It took him almost half an hour to clean the place up.

”I should leave now,” The cloaked figure turned to Adam and said in an even voice.

”Where are you going?” Adam asked.

”West.” The cloaked figure stroked his chin. ”Might as well spend some time in the Unorthodox Faction’s territories. That way, the Arakuro Clan will be certain that the murderer is someone from the Unorthodox Faction.”

Adam inhaled deeply, then nodded. ”Alright, good luck and... be careful.”

”Hehe.” The cloaked figure chuckled, then turned around and prepared to leave. He waved his hand, leaving behind his parting words:

”So long. We shall meet next on the great battlefield!”

With that said, the cloaked figure disappeared.

Adam remained seated on the wooden crate for a long time. This experience was surreal for him. He had a lot to ponder. With the issue with the Arakuro Clan taken care of, he was now much more relaxed.

At last, he thought about the cloaked figure’s parting words.

”The great battlefield,” he murmured.

Of course, Adam knew that the ’great battlefield’ that the cloaked figure was referring to wasn’t the Fourth Great War that was going to take place between the Orthodox and the Unorthodox Factions.

No, the cloaked figure was referring to the coming war that would engulf all the factions of Tron. A war in which every Magus of this world would be drawn to fight, a war for the very survival of this planet itself...

The war against the Cult of Bones!
