Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1304: Takezo’s Proposal

Adam was very quick on his feet. He didn’t let his enemies cast a single spell. Forget casting, he didn’t even leave them any room to breathe.

”S-stay away!” An Ararkuro Magus quickly ran towards the stairs, while at the same time weaving hand seals to cast a spell.

But Adam once again appeared before him like a ghost. Stance lowered, he swung his blade in one sweeping arc, cleanly severing the man’s palms from the wrists.

Warm blood sprayed into the air once again as the Arakuro Magus found himself unable to cast spells.

”Blood,” Adam said with a drunken grin. ”It’s so... beautiful.”

Putting away the Blades of Fulgrim, he took one step forward and positioned himself right before the Magus.

He then prepared for the next attack. With one palm facing the opponent and the other facing upward, Adam gathered mana into his hands, then spun them with vicious brutality.

Hand of Doom: Billowing Strike!

In the aftermath of Adam’s attack, the Arakuro Magus’s upper body was reduced to mere blood stains.

As drops of blood fell like rain, drenching Adam’s clothes and bandages, he muttered once again, ”Ah... so, so beautiful.”

Amidst blood and madness, Adam found his rhythm. A beautiful cadence was formed within him as mana flowed smoothly through his pathways.

”I can feel it!” He raised his head and softly muttered. ”Oh, I can feel it... it’s coming!”

A tiny orb of light emerged from the corpse, then shot towards Adam.

The madman turned into a ghostly specter as he utilized the Stellar Steps and weaved across the floor. His speed was simply too fast. Not even the Soulmark could catch up to him.

Not even a minute had passed since the battle had begun, yet he had already slain three Mana Vortex Magi.

The remaining Magi watched in horror as Adam approached them.

”Im-impossible!” Takezo watched in sheer terror.

Such physical speed reminded him of Goro Tsuitsui. He had seen the Venom Dragon spar one time. The man’s physical strength and speed were unrivaled in the Mana Vortex Rank.

But today... Takezo finally witnessed someone who could rival Goro’s speed.

No! Perhaps, Adam’s speed had already surpassed Goro Tsuitsui’s!

”I can feel it!!” Adam screamed in ecstasy as he shot towards the next target.

He put away the Blades of Fulgrim. Then, he coated mana into his hand and arrived before his target.

The Magus, in a state of fear and panic, haphazardly swung his katana. Though the weapon was swung in a not-so-optimal state, it was still very dangerous to take head-on.

Adam leaned back and swiftly evaded the blade. With the same drunken smile on his face, he spun around and arrived right behind the Magus. In one swift motion, he clutched the man’s wrist and grabbed his neck from behind.

”Wha—” The Magus’s words got caught in his throat when the Soulmark orb burrowed right inside his body.

Adam’s lips stretched even wider, and he whispered into the man’s ears:

”Run.”

The Arakuro Magus’s body shuddered. His instincts screamed at him. And he listened. Forgetting everything about the clan’s honor, he broke into a desperate run, fleeing towards the staircase. He didn’t look back. He ran for his life.

Adam turned towards his next target. He effortlessly dodged a sword attack from the man, swiftly maneuvered himself into an advantageous position, and then...

Crack!

He twisted the man’s neck, shattering the spine.

”...It’s coming,” Adam murmured once again.

He dashed towards Takezo Arakuro, who stood eerily calm. Seeing this, Adam’s lips curled into a sly smile.

When he approached Takezo, the latter didn’t even try to attack him. Adam appeared behind him, then watched as the Soulmark orb dove into Takezo’s chest

”Wait for me, yeah?” Adam muttered softly. ”I’ll be right back.”

Then, he disappeared once again. With incredible speed, he circled the floor and arrived right before the flight of stairs. The man he had released earlier froze in his footsteps when he saw Adam barring his way.

”Y-you said you’ll let me go!” He screamed in horror.

”Did I?” Adam grinned. ”I only told you to run, though?”

”I-I’ll fight you!!” The man frantically ran towards Adam, sword in hand.

”Yes, yes, yes!” Adam circulated mana within his body. It flowed so smoothly that it felt euphoric. Augmenting his hands and legs, he dashed towards his opponent.

”It’s coming!!” He screamed with a wide grin on his face.

The Arakuro Magus swung his sword, giving it his all. His life depended on it.

Adam didn’t try to dodge the attack. He didn’t even try to defend. Instead, he took it head-on.

Mana smoothly flowed from his reserves, through his pathways, and into his right hand. He then struck with a powerful, decisive, and unnervingly precise punch.

CRITICAL STRIKE!

As Adam’s mana surged in perfect sync with his strike, his punch effortlessly shattered the katana and drove forward, unhindered, landing squarely on the man’s chest.

Flesh ruptured, bones splintered, and his organs turned to mush!

Adam exhaled with a wide grin on his face as he completely obliterated the man’s upper body.

”Oh, that felt good.”

His euphoria only lasted a split second as he saw the Soulmark orb rise from the corpse and shoot towards him.

Adam quickly traversed the whole floor and, in a matter of moments, arrived behind Takezo Arakuro once again. The Soulmark orb, which had been closely following his movements, now buried itself deep inside Takezo’s body instead.

Strangely enough, throughout the entire time, Takezo Arakuro remained oddly quiet as he watched his cousins get butchered.

”Not going to put up a fight, eh?” Adam asked with a faint smile as he walked around the man.

Takezo involuntarily gulped as he saw Adam drenched in the blood of his brethren. Within just two minutes, this madman had slaughtered five Mana Vortex Magi. All the while, without taking even the slightest damage.

Putting up a brave front, Takezo flatly muttered, ”You won’t kill me. Unless you want to get marked, that is.”

He paused for a moment, then added. ”And the nearest living person is still quite a distance away. By the time you kill me and rush towards another person, the Soulmark will have already caught up with you.

”And if you’re thinking of apprehending some random person from the street and bringing him up here, then that won’t do either. I will have long since escaped by then. That is why... you won’t kill me.”

Adam deeply observed the man standing before him. He raised his hands in surrender, then said helplessly, ”You’re right.”

Takezo involuntarily heaved a sigh of relief. Then, he proposed. ”We’ll enter a mana oath. In return for getting out of here alive, I’ll keep my mouth shut about what happened here. How about it—”

Adam interrupted him. ”I can’t kill you.”

He paused, his lips curling into a devious smile. ”But he can.”

Takezo Arakuro froze in terror. Right at that moment, he sensed an ominous presence behind him. Then, a cold, mocking voice whispered:

”Hello there.”
