Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 1286: Chapter 1287: The Provoke-and-Challenge Tactic

On the helicopter, the pilot spoke a series of words into the aircraft’s radio, and soon, Lu Xiaobu saw a hidden helipad emerge from the ground.

Of course, this helipad isn’t the kind like in movies, with formal markings; simply put, it’s just an open area.

After all, we have to consider secrecy!

Meanwhile, the helicopter quickly descended and landed on the helipad.

”Wow, looks pretty legit!” Lu Xiaobu exclaimed in wonder as he got off the plane, puzzled that he still hadn’t seen where the secret base’s entrance was.

”Just kidding, it’s a secret base after all.” Mr. Wang said proudly, and then with a hint of challenge, he added, ”Want to try finding the entrance? Aren’t you supposed to be a genius strategist?”

”Oh, testing me, huh?” Lu Xiaobu grinned, ”Alright, I’ll give it a shot.”

Lu Xiaobu began scanning his eyes around the area.

Mr. Wang leaned against the helicopter, waiting smugly for Lu Xiaobu to make his guess!

He believed Lu Xiaobu would never guess it!

However.

”Over there, maybe.” Lu Xiaobu suddenly pointed to a mountain not far away with a laugh.

”What the heck, how did you guess?” Mr. Wang was shocked, swearing in disbelief!

He was genuinely startled; since it’s a secret base, they’d obviously go all out to keep it hidden, yet Lu Xiaobu had found it just by sweeping his gaze around?!

Oh, my god!

”You told me.” Lu Xiaobu replied with a mysterious smile.

”Nonsense, when did I say anything?” Mr. Wang said incredulously.

”Just now, you glanced over there and slightly shook your head. You were probably signaling to the people over there not to come out yet, right?” Lu Xiaobu laughed.

”You’re truly a freak!” Mr. Wang admitted, completely surrendered!

It was such a simple gesture, and he had tried to make it as inconspicuous and natural as possible, but it was still noticed!

Since it was discovered, Mr. Wang no longer hid it and nodded towards that direction.

Then, a seemingly ordinary stone was lifted by some force, revealing a circular elevator leading underground.

Seeing the entrance appear, Lu Xiaobu was once again amazed. He had seen that stone earlier too, but never imagined the entrance was beneath it!

This disguise is really impressive!

”Let’s go.” Mr. Wang led Lu Xiaobu into the elevator, still a bit bothered by Lu Xiaobu’s guess of the base’s location.

The elevator sped downward.

When it stopped, a massive square appeared before Lu Xiaobu.

Just a glance revealed numerous machines he had never seen before.

Lu Xiaobu was not particularly surprised by this sight; indeed, the world’s technological advancements go far beyond what the public sees, with many technologies being kept hidden.

These technologies might not be suitable for civilian use, or they may be immature and require constant professional oversight, or maybe they could expose some secrets, among other reasons.

So, encountering things he’s never seen in a secret base is quite normal.

Mr. Wang evidently had no intention of explaining these things’ purposes to Lu Xiaobu, instead pulling out a confidentiality agreement, ”Sign this. Although I’m sure you won’t talk, the process must be followed.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded and signed without looking closely; it wouldn’t matter anyway.

Mr. Wang continued leading Lu Xiaobu, passing through a tunnel, arriving at another plaza.

There, two formations stood neatly.

”These are the two regiments guarding this place, plus those on alert and routine patrols, totaling three thousand. They’ll be your students from now on.” Mr. Wang introduced.

”Fan Ming, Qi Tao, step forward!” Mr. Wang commanded.

”Yes, sir!”

Two soldiers stepped out and saluted.

”These are the two commanders, get to know them. They’ll discuss specific matters with you; I have to go.” Mr. Wang suddenly said hurriedly, perhaps due to other matters, ”Talk to them, and let them know if you want to leave!”

After speaking, without waiting for Lu Xiaobu’s response, he turned and left.

”That old man.” Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes. Why did it feel a bit off?

After Mr. Wang left, Fan Ming and Qi Tao saluted Lu Xiaobu, ”Welcome, new instructor!”

”Welcome, new instructor!” The soldiers also shouted loudly.

But anyone could hear the hidden meaning in their words – it’s an order we accept but doesn’t mean we recognize you.

The implication was so barefaced!

Hearing their words, Lu Xiaobu suddenly squinted, wanting to play games with me?

He couldn’t believe these people would act like a regular army with rebels, dissatisfaction, and all sorts of things!

After all, remember?

Mr. Wang did say teaching them how to pick up women would be fine.

This phrase illustrates both Lu Xiaobu’s high degree of freedom and also implies the soldiers here differ from those outside.

Moreover, these guys are near Taihang Mountain’s Shimen, possibly tasked with monitoring him, pretending not to know his name? Disrespecting him?

No one would buy that!

So clearly, this lot is pretending, trying to provoke!

Playing the provoke game with him?! Lu Xiaobu chuckled slightly!

”Okay, okay, all good, get on with your duties.” Lu Xiaobu waved and said, then intended to leave!

Provoke? Alright, let’s see who gets anxious!

”Huh?” Fan Ming and Qi Tao exchanged glances, slightly stunned.

This...

They had served as instructors before, knowing instructors typically showcase a specialty; if you don’t win them over, some rebels might cause trouble.

This was why they chose the provocation method!

Unexpectedly, this guy’s ready to disband right away?

This casual?

Now it’s their turn to worry!

”Instructor, please wait, why not say a few words to everyone?” Fan Ming warmly invited.

”There’s nothing much to say, you’re all great, protect our country, train well, that’s it.” Lu Xiaobu finished and was ready to leave.

”Instructor, Instructor, don’t go.” Qi Tao blocked Lu Xiaobu again, smiling as he said, ”We’ve been waiting for your arrival! Everyone, right?”

This was a signal, telling the seasoned soldiers not to pretend, the provocation technique won’t work!

So, almost instantly, the atmosphere on site changed!

Exposed!
