Chapter 1252: Chapter 1253: Red Fruit

”Young Master Lu?”

Lu Xiaobu and the others had just finished tidying up when they heard someone calling him.

Lu Xiaobu turned around and chuckled, ”Wen Family Hall? What are you doing here?”

Do you remember Wen Family Hall?

He was the first on the Third Level Rich List when Lu Xiaobu was there.

Even when Lu Xiaobu upgraded, Wen Family Hall remained the first on the Third Level Rich List.

”Just wandering around,” Wen Family Hall said, smiling cheerfully.

He looked at Lu Xiaobu, feeling quite emotional internally. There was a time when Lu Xiaobu didn’t even catch his eye, but in a blink, he’d become a big shot on the First Level Rich List with assets ten times his own!

However, even so, he didn’t show any signs of trying to curry favor.

That’s just his personality, a bit like living comfortably with modest wealth.

Anyway, I just want to be the first on the Third Level Rich List. If you want to compete with me, I’ll put up a fight, like when I competed with Lu Xiaobu back then.

If you don’t compete with me, I won’t covet what’s yours.

”Alright, let’s go together then.” Lu Xiaobu didn’t have a strong impression of Wen Family Hall, just an ordinary relationship.

”Dad, are you going out?” Lu Xiaobu turned to look inside the house.

”You go ahead, I’m going to rest a bit.” Lu’s father was getting older, and after a long journey, his body was somewhat exhausted.

”Alright then. Zhang Meng, you’ll stay here and look after my father.” Lu Xiaobu nodded and said.

”Yes!” Zhang Meng didn’t say much.

With Ye Changsheng by the Young Master’s side, safety isn’t a concern.

Besides, Ye Changsheng might not even be able to beat the Young Master.

And so, Lu Xiaobu, Ye Changsheng, Wen Family Hall, along with Wen Family Hall’s two bodyguards, went downstairs together.

Wen Family Hall didn’t know Ye Changsheng, mistakenly thinking he was Lu Xiaobu’s bodyguard, so he didn’t greet him or anything.

As for Ye Changsheng, he certainly wouldn’t take the initiative to introduce himself, that would be too embarrassing!

So, Lu Xiaobu and Wen Family Hall chatted sparsely on their way to the market.

”I heard the Inner Valley will open tomorrow; it’s a good place. Too bad we can’t go in.”

”Really? How good is it?”

”Haven’t you heard? It’s completely different from here; they say it’s planted full of herbs inside. Just the air filled with herbal aroma can refresh one’s spirit.”

”That amazing? Then why can’t we smell it here?”

”I don’t know, it seems like they’ve used some special method. For example, this place looks open, but you can’t find it on the satellite map; there are just too many tricks in Jianghu.”

”...”

Thus, chatting idly along the way, they arrived at the market.

Gotta say, the Jianghu folks running stalls here are quite sly. Seeing how Lu Xiaobu and Wen Family Hall were dressed, they quickly realized these two were wealthy.

So, many eyes gleamed, obviously trying to find a way to make a profit.

”Come and see! Millennium Blood Jade! It’s a rare treasure!” A merchant called out as Lu Xiaobu and Wen Family Hall walked by.

”Millennium Blood Jade?” Wen Family Hall showed interest, moving closer to the stall and asking, ”Human Blood Jade? Dog Blood Jade? Or Sheep Blood Jade?”

The merchant heard this and said, ”Oh wow, an expert! This is authentic Human Blood Jade, Millennium Blood Jade, very rare!”

Lu Xiaobu, meanwhile, was a bit puzzled. It’s just red jade; why categorize it by blood type?

But apparently, no one explained it to him, and he wasn’t inclined to delve into it.

However, the item at the adjacent stall caught his attention: ”Boss, what is this?”

The item interesting Lu Xiaobu was a fruit, but it wasn’t any type of fruit he had eaten before, hence the curiosity.

”This?” The merchant, upon hearing Lu Xiaobu’s query, was momentarily stunned.

”Yes, this,” Lu Xiaobu nodded.

”This thing is called Red Fruit,” the merchant said with a bitter smile.

He initially thought this wealthy kid would fancy something valuable, but ended up being drawn to the common Red Fruit.

”Red Fruit?” Lu Xiaobu raised an eyebrow, ”Like the Red Fruit from the novels that give sixty years of skill with one bite?”

”No,” the merchant replied with a bitter smile, ”Change your mindset! This thing is actually just a persimmon with harsher growing conditions!”

”Persimmon?” Lu Xiaobu’s mouth twitched, ”How does this look like a persimmon?”

Really, the item in front of him looked nothing like a persimmon!

”Scientifically speaking, it’s a mutated persimmon, and we all call it Red Fruit,” the merchant said helplessly.

To be honest, if possible, he would love to scam this young man, who clearly didn’t lack money but was clueless about the world.

However, unfortunately, the item was too ordinary, common to nearly every stall.

In fact, this fruit just grows on the tree next to them as they enter the valley. You could still see the tree now.

This has become a tradition: as people set up stalls, they casually pick one or two.

Moreover, they aren’t sold; they’re just used to quench thirst or hunger since food prices here are too high, they can’t afford it.

Thus, if he lied about this, he’d be exposed in seconds.

”Here, have one.” The merchant noticed Lu Xiaobu’s genuine interest and handed him a Red Fruit, ”Consider it a gift.”

”I’ll try it then.” Lu Xiaobu took it without hesitation, wiped it on his clothes, and took a bite.

Hmm, delicious!

Sweet and tasty, leaving a lingering fragrance!

”Got more?” Lu Xiaobu asked, while continuing to munch.

He wasn’t interested in jade, but tasty food caught his attention.

”I have a few more,” the merchant rummaged around. He had eaten two earlier and had about five or six left.

”Sell them to me. Name your price.” Lu Xiaobu said with a cheerful smile.

”Huh? You really want to buy these?” The merchant was taken aback.

”Of course, how about a hundred dollars each?” Lu Xiaobu thought about it and offered a price.

”Alright, alright!” The merchant agreed instantly!

This was a no-cost deal! He’d sell them for ten dollars each!

Not to mention a hundred dollars each!

Why not sell them?!

As soon as possible, the merchant handed over all his Red Fruits, a total of five.

”A bit scarce,” Lu Xiaobu said while picking up another one to munch, then thought, ”How about this, you help me collect them, and I’ll give you a hundred dollars each, no matter the buying cost—how about that?”

”Really?!” The merchant’s eyes lit up at these words.

”Really, here’s a ten thousand dollar deposit, go ahead.” Lu Xiaobu nodded.

”Sure thing, I’ll be right back!” The merchant dashed off—this was a great deal!

”Want one?” Lu Xiaobu handed Ye Changsheng a Red Fruit.

”Honestly, you’re buying these; they just grew on the tree we passed by earlier.” Ye Changsheng rolled his eyes but still took one for a bite.

He hadn’t eaten Red Fruit in a long time either.

”What’s the matter? As long as I’m happy.” Lu Xiaobu shrugged.

At this moment, however, Lu Xiaobu noticed Wen Family Hall was nowhere to be found.
