Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 566: Chapter 564 Happy [3rd update, celebrating kno3’s birthday]

After a few days,

The Lu Family gained a new member, but it was as if nothing had really changed.

The only change was that Father Lu’s smile had notably increased.

Nowadays, he was no longer always in the kitchen, instead, he and Duan Yue exercised together daily, practicing Tai Chi, even drinking together at night.

When the two of them drank, they actually didn’t allow the three Lu brothers to join in.

”Scram, scram! We two old geezers are chatting, what are you young ones joining the fun for?”

Father Lu stood up and chased the three Lu brothers, who wanted to join in the fun, out of the room.

”Fine, fine. You two elders drink a little,”

Lu Hongbin had no choice but to persuade.

”It’s none of your business, I’m not drinking outside home,”

Father Lu retorted childishly.

”This...”

The three brothers smiled bitterly, looked at each other, sighed in unison, and then walked downstairs.

However, they were actually very happy in their hearts.

After all, nothing was more important than Father Lu being happy!

”Xiaobu, where did you find such a person that dad likes so much?”

Lu Hongbin asked curiously.

”Luck,” Lu Xiaobu shrugged his shoulders.

It really was luck; if it wasn’t for the pile of annoying matters that day, he would have never met Duan Yue.

”I don’t care about that, what I care about is, how did dad get along so well with this old Duan?!”

Lu Wenhuo asked curiously: ”You know dad is not an easy person to get along with! The old folks in the square don’t even play with him!”

”Hey! Don’t you know the kind of person our dad is? He appears amiable, but he is so proud at heart!”

Lu Hongbin said.

”True, if dad didn’t have that temperament, would he have dared to go to Xiangjiang alone back in the day and marry our mom?” Lu Wenhuo nodded in agreement.

”So, I guess it’s probably the jianghu aura Duan old man has that makes dad feel a connection,” Lu Hongbin explained with shrugged shoulders.

As he spoke, Lu Hongbin patted Lu Xiaobu’s shoulder with a smile: ”Xiaobu, you did a good job on this!”

”Right, thumbs up for you.”

Lu Wenhuo also prepared to pat Lu Xiaobu’s shoulder imitating Lu Hongbin.

And then.

”Eh!”

Lu Xiaobu twisted his body to avoid Lu Wenhuo’s pat: ”You can’t hit me.”

”Hey, you little brat, it’s fine when big brother pats you, but not me, huh!”

Lu Wenhuo’s nose almost got crooked with irritation.

This damn kid.

While speaking, Lu Wenhuo chased after him: ”I must pat you no matter what!”

”You can’t make me!”

Lu Xiaobu made a face and took off running.

”These two damn kids.”

Lu Hongbin watched the two playing and laughed.

”Hongbin, I’ll take some tea up to dad,”

Lin Shu said, carrying the tea.

”Alright, go ahead,”

Lu Hongbin looked at Lin Shu with full affection.

The whole family was blissfully happy!

It’s just that if Lu Wenhuo could also get married, it would be perfect!

...

The next day.

Don’t look at Father Lu who drank half the night, he was bursting with energy and got up early in the morning.

Duan Yue was practicing boxing in the courtyard, and when he saw Father Lu, he stopped: ”Master, good morning.”

”You were up even earlier than me after drinking so little yesterday,” Father Lu joked. ”Next time I’ll have to pour more into you.”

”I’m always ready,”

Duan Yue said with a hearty smile.

”Come on, let’s practice boxing.”

Father Lu walked into the middle of the yard, starting to practice boxing with proper form.

This was something Duan Yue taught him, it had no actual attack power, but it was good for health maintenance.

Lu Hongbin was leaning on the second-floor window with Lin Shu in his arms, watching this scene, constantly smiling.

”You seem very happy.”

Lin Shu rubbed her eyes and snuggled into Lu Hongbin’s embrace, asking sleepily.

”Of course,”

Lu Hongbin said with a smile: ”Dad has worked hard all his life, and I’ve always wanted to find him a companion, but he never agreed. I thought dad was too picky! Who knew Xiaobu would find a playmate for him, solving the problem in one go, Xiaobu really is amazing!”

”Yes, yes, let me sleep a little longer.”

Lin Shu hugged Lu Hongbin tightly in a drowsy state and fell asleep again.

And just then.

”What the hell?”

Something suddenly flashed in Lu Hongbin’s eyes.

”Bang!”

Before he could react, he saw a bolt of lightning rush out of the house!

Looking at the figure, it was Zhang Meng!

This gave Lu Hongbin an instant jolt.

Zhang Meng is on the move?!

Does this mean there could be an enemy?!

Lu Hongbin immediately set Lin Shu aside, dressed himself, and went downstairs.

Sure enough, Li Jin was scanning the surroundings vigilantly at the door.

”Is it an enemy?”

Lu Hongbin asked.

”It’s not certain yet, not sure if someone is just messing around.”

Li Jin said without relaxing his guard: ”Mr. Lu, let’s go to the company later today! Wait until the instructor investigates it clearly!”

”Okay.”

Lu Hongbin had nothing to refute.

There was no need to worry about Lu Xiaobu; he was still sleeping.

About an hour later, Zhang Meng came back.

”Instructor, what’s the situation?”

Li Jin asked.

Zhang Meng shook his head: ”I didn’t find anything. If the other side is not just fooling around and inadvertently swept this way, then they’re professionals! But, no matter whether they are or not, we must stay on high alert!”

”Yes!”

Li Jin accepted the order!

Since there was no substantial evidence regarding this incident, Zhang Meng did not report it to Lu Xiaobu.

After all, there was no need for such unfounded concerns.

...

Later, a few days passed, and everything remained stable, so the incident faded into the back of their minds.

Lu Xiaobu didn’t have much going on recently, spending each day lazing in bed, idle and just getting by!

One day, Lu’s father and Duan Yue went out for their routine walk as usual.

The two of them were chatting and laughing, playing and frolicking, not seeming like old people at all, but rather filled with the vitality of young people.

Their walk took them to the square.

Here, the daily life of the elderly was almost unchanging.

Those who practiced Tai Chi did so, those who played chess continued their games, those who walked their birds did precisely that, even the people were mostly the same.

And at that moment.

”Squeak!”

A business van stopped next to Lu’s father and Duan Yue.

”Whoosh.”

The van door slid open.

Two men in black enclosed Lu’s father and Duan Yue from both sides: ”Gentlemen, our boss would like to see you, please come with us.”

Their tone was filled with an unquestionable assertiveness.

They said ’please’, but in reality, it was no different from a kidnapping!

”Who are you?”

Lu’s father was not the least bit flustered, looking at the two men and asking.

”Please!”

The tone of the men in black intensified once again, without answering Lu’s father’s question!

”Sorry, then I won’t be going.”

Lu’s father stepped back and gave Duan Yue a look.

”Whoosh!”

Duan Yue burst out, striking right with the upper body and left with the lower.

He hit both men almost simultaneously.

The two aggressive men in black turned limp instantly!

Then, Duan Yue grabbed Lu’s father and turned to run.

Fighting was never the goal; protecting Lu’s father’s safety was the top priority, a firm order given by Lu Xiaobu!

After all, you can’t be sure if the opponent has weapons!

Back at home, when Lu Xiaobu heard the news!

”Bang!”

The TV at home exploded instantly!
