Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 497: Chapter 495 National Competition Bidding [First Update]

Hearing Lu Xiaobu’s words, everyone present was sporting an awkward grimace.

How could it be so simple?!

Embarrassment to the max—they were eagerly posing tough questions to him, yet Lu Xiaobu had known the answer all along.

”Dig in, dig in. But remember the conditions you’ve agreed to!”

Lu Xiaobu, looking at either a drunken or bashful Sun Wanqi, spoke up to ease the atmosphere.

With that, the matter was considered concluded.

Lu Xiaobu also earned himself a favor from Sun Wanqi; definitely a worthwhile celebratory feast!

And there’s not much to say about what followed the banquet.

After all, the so-called celebration was more of a formality, as those with disparate statuses didn’t really mingle that well.

Meanwhile, the internet was abuzz with the finale of ”The Voice”.

Weibo was already dominated by topics about ”The Voice”.

This night was destined to belong to ”The Voice”!

”Alas, my train driver! To stop at the final eight!”

”There’s no helping it. Although the train driver’s explosive high notes were eye-catching, the singing technique was far behind. Even with the coaches’ full support, there wasn’t enough time. Making it to the top eight is already quite impressive!”

”I like Grandpa Zeng, shame he got eliminated, such a pity!”

”Cao Wen in the first place? What a dark horse!”

”Yes! Even though ordinary looking and singing just fine, who knew the competition was suited for the contestants who could perform well!”

”How come Ning Feiping got second place?! I’m gonna commit a murder·jpg!”

”I love Wu Mei! She should be in first place!”

”Stop causing a fuss! It’s only rightful for Cao Wen to come in first! Don’t get cocky, I’ve got photos of you when you were little·jpg”

”Cause a fuss my ass. My champion is Grandpa Zeng! The Crownless King! I crown you·jpg. Oops, sent the wrong one!”

”No matter what, ”The Voice” is just damn amazing, the best variety show in my heart, bar none!”

”Yeah, Lu Xiaobu was really kickass this time! Full of surprises at every turn, I didn’t miss a single episode from the start!”

”I don’t care, there must be a second season! Lu Xiaobu, if you don’t make one, I’ll just camp out at your doorstep! Zhang Meng, attack!·jpg”

”No doubt about it! The best variety show of the year! Lu Xiaobu is awesome·jpg”

”The Voice” has completely crushed all other variety shows, the absolute king of variety entertainment!”

”So thrilling!”

”...”

There were discussions, analysis, thank-yous, and even some trash-talking—a heated debate was in full swing!

Oh, right, the ratings, I almost forgot!

The ratings for the final night came out that very night!

From start to finish, the ratings were:

First episode: 2.07%

Second episode: 2.17%

Third episode: 2.09%

Fourth episode: 2.01%

Fifth episode: 2.11%

Sixth episode: 2.07%

Seventh episode: 2.16%

Eighth episode: 2.28%!

The ratings for ”The Voice”, impressively, were always above 2%!

There’s just no denying how badass that is!

But that’s not even the best part!

Even though ”The Voice” already broke variety show rating records, it outdid itself at the end!

You probably guessed it, yes, the record was broken by none other than ”The Voice” itself—finale rating: 2.45%!

A new high!

A miracle!

That was the word echoing in everyone’s minds!

They had no other adjectives besides ’miracle’!

...

As time passed, the hype around ”The Voice” began to fade a bit, though it hadn’t completely vanished from people’s sight, the bustling discourse had cooled.

After all, it’s just a variety show and can’t permanently occupy people’s attention.

And now, the Lu Group was busy preparing for the LOL competition’s logistics.

”Young Master, are we organizing this competition ourselves, or shall we open it up for bidding?!”

Liang Lan sat on the sofa and asked Lu Xiaobu, who was lying on her lap playing with his phone.

Now that the issues with ”The Voice” were settled, she could take some well-deserved rest.

”Let’s outsource it.”

Lu Xiaobu said casually, ”I’ve been too tired lately, it’s time for a good rest.”

Lu Xiaobu’s laziness was flaring up again.

It hadn’t been long, with exams and ”The Voice”, not to mention the recent strategic duel with Lin Feng at sea.

He was really tired and couldn’t be bothered to move anymore.

”Alright, then I’ll have them start the bidding process.”

Liang Lan gently massaged Lu Xiaobu’s forehead as she spoke.

The Young Master had been unusually hardworking lately.

He probably wore himself out, it’s best to let him rest well.

...

Three days passed, and the bidding for the national competition of the Heavenly Dynasty began.

However, not many people showed up at the venue.

Just a few cats and dogs.

That was to be expected; after all, it was a national competition, and without substantial financial resources, it couldn’t happen.

Moreover, currently, undertaking event organization wasn’t viewed very optimistically, but more on that later.

Nevertheless, the bid was eventually awarded.

It went to a newly established company—Vermilion Bird Entertainment!

Although newly formed, in the field of companies bidding, this one was the strongest.

Not for any other reason but because behind Vermilion Bird Entertainment was the powerhouse Tenglong Group.

Tenglong Group was a well-known entity, with industries ranging from manufacturing to the internet, encompassing top talents.

The founder of Tenglong Group—Mo Haiwen—was a prominent figure on the rich list, ranked 92nd!

This so-called rich list tracked billionaires in the range of ten to a hundred billion.

It’s also known by a more colloquial name, the Second Level Rich List.

It might sound low-key, but it’s straightforward enough.

Of course, you’re welcome to remember the official name of the rich list if you prefer.

But I can’t be bothered to!

Though its name might sound similar to the third-tier rich list, the actual situation is vastly different.

On the third-tier rich list, the gap between ranks is only about one billion.

But the Second Level Rich List?

The gap between ranks is roughly ten billion!

Meaning, despite Mo Haiwen’s rank at 92, his actual wealth is almost double that of Lu Group, of Lu Xiaobu!

That’s why Liang Lan chose to award the bid to Mo Haiwen in the end.

After all, someone on the Second Level Rich List deserves trust.

Of course, it wasn’t Mo Haiwen himself who made an appearance, but his son, Mo Hong!

Vermilion Bird Entertainment was also owned by Mo Hong.

Clearly, this was Mo Haiwen’s way of grooming Mo Hong.

But that’s their family business, and I won’t babble on about it!

Anyway, Mo Hong seemed very confident.

After all, this wasn’t just any national competition, but a combination of both national and global competitions.

Why, do you ask?!

Are you silly?!

As the first ever global competition, how could Lu Xiaobu possibly hold it in another country?!

The first one must be in the Heavenly Dynasty!

No discussion!

You can call me a nationalist, thank you!

When the bidding ended, the date for the national competition was also set.

It was in mid-July, just one month away!

This timeline seemed a bit rushed, and Liang Lan initially suggested to Mo Hong that it could be delayed a bit.

But Mo Hong confidently pounded his chest and said, ”Absolutely no problem!”
