Fate-Defying Demon Emperor

Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Does No One Stand for Yaoguang Peak?

Leng Rufeng’s sudden interrogation stunned everyone. When they heard what he said, they were even more perplexed.

Three months ago, shortly after the sect’s grand competition, Luo Hongyi and Wang Ziming had suddenly disappeared. The Enforcement Hall and Heavenly Mystery Peak had launched extensive searches to no avail. The incident caused a great commotion and left a profound impression on everyone.

But why was Leng Rufeng bringing this up now, and so pointedly aimed at Su Han? Could it be that Luo Hongyi and Wang Ziming had been killed by him?

Everyone inhaled sharply. Their gazes shifted back to Su Han, their anger turning to shocked fury.

If that were true, Su Han would have been incredibly bold. Not to mention Luo Hongyi’s identity as a Chosen, the Sect Rules explicitly forbade fellow disciples from killing one another.

If Su Han had privately murdered Luo Hongyi and Wang Ziming, he would have violated the Sect Rules and would face the severest punishment—a life for a life!

The atmosphere grew heavy and eerie.

Leng Rufeng’s gaze was piercing, fixed squarely on Su Han. His voice was cold as he asked, ”Su Han, did you kill Luo Hongyi and Wang Ziming?”

Su Han lifted his head, his eyes meeting Leng Rufeng’s without a trace of fear. He knew he couldn’t show any weakness. Given the current situation, with Qin Wushuang’s intense hatred and Mu Qingyun’s deep resentment toward him, a single slip could lead to a deadly crisis.

”Elder Leng, although I am young, I’m no pushover. You have no evidence, so why do you slander me?” Su Han was unyielding, refusing to back down.

”That’s right, Leng Rufeng! I know you and that old man Qin are good friends, but I will not allow you to pin a baseless crime on my disciple!” Lei Ming quickly spoke up, firmly supporting Su Han.

Even though he knew the truth, he was prepared to pay any price for Su Han’s sake.

”No evidence?” Leng Rufeng sneered, his face confident, as if victory was already in his grasp. ”To my knowledge, before the incident, Ning Feifan from your Yaoguang Peak clashed with Wang Ziming and was later taken away by him. When he returned, he was beaten black and blue. Do you admit this?”

The conflict between Ning Feifan and Wang Ziming had many witnesses, so it was indisputable. However, Su Han and the others had already anticipated such questions and had their story straight. Ning Feifan stepped forward on his own initiative.

”I implore the Enforcement Hall to grant me justice! That day, Wang Ziming and I had a small verbal dispute. He then knocked me unconscious and took me to Gourd Valley. There, he bound me with copper pillars and iron chains and privately tortured me with a Thorn Iron Whip until I was covered in wounds. He even destroyed my Dantian and nearly beat me to death! Elder Leng, I beg you to get justice for me!”

Tears streamed down Ning Feifan’s face as he spoke, his voice choked with emotion. He gritted his teeth, his expression a mask of pure hatred for Wang Ziming.

”Since you say Wang Ziming took you to Gourd Valley, how did you escape?” Leng Rufeng completely ignored Wang Ziming’s violation of the sect rules, keeping the focus on Ning Feifan.

”It was Elder Lei who saved me!”

Lei Ming’s strength was too formidable, and his every move would have left a trace, so he couldn’t be left out of the story. They had already coordinated their statements in advance, so naturally, there would be no loopholes.

”Hmph! Wang Ziming is a petty man. His resentment led him to dare lay a hand on a disciple of my Yaoguang Peak. The fact that I only rescued him and didn’t kill Wang Ziming was me giving Heavenly Mystery Peak face,” Lei Ming snorted. He recounted how he had found and rescued Ning Feifan, deliberately leaving Su Han out of the story entirely.

They were well aware that Leng Rufeng’s real target was Su Han, so they had to ensure he was completely disassociated from the incident.

”Junior Brother Lei, since you discovered Wang Ziming violating the sect rules, why didn’t you apprehend him on the spot and hand him over to my Enforcement Hall? Or is there something more to this story? Are you deliberately shielding someone?” Leng Rufeng pressed, his tone confrontational and aggressive.

”At the time, Ning Feifan’s Dantian was destroyed, and his life was hanging by a thread. To me, his life was more important. As for Wang Ziming, he is a disciple of our Seven Stars Sect; it was only a matter of time before he was caught. Saving a life was the priority,” Lei Ming replied fluently, giving Leng Rufeng no opening.

Leng Rufeng pressed for a few more details, but Ning Feifan and Lei Ming’s answers matched perfectly.

”In that case, why did Su Han flee immediately after the incident?” Leng Rufeng’s focus shifted, landing back on Su Han.

”My Master has high hopes for me to become Yaoguang Peak’s Chosen. To not disappoint him, I accepted an A-rank mission. What, is that against the sect rules too?” Su Han had taken some Healing Pills, and his injuries had temporarily stabilized. Facing Leng Rufeng’s accusation, he responded coldly, not backing down in the slightest.

”Then why were you so weak when you left, with an aura that suggested you were severely injured?” Leng Rufeng stared intently at Su Han, determined to force the truth out of him.

”I had just fought a life-and-death battle against Qian Yuan. It’s hardly surprising that my injuries hadn’t fully healed. Are you saying that just because I was injured, I must have killed someone?” Su Han met Leng Rufeng’s aggressive gaze without a trace of fear, refusing to retreat.

At this, however, Leng Rufeng smiled, a hint of smugness and absolute certainty in his expression.

”Ning Feifan had a conflict with Wang Ziming and was subsequently captured and tortured in Gourd Valley. Su Han, furious, intervened and killed Wang Ziming. He was then unfortunately spotted by Luo Hongyi, so in a fit of madness, he killed her as well. Afterward, Junior Brother Lei arrived. To protect both Su Han and Ning Feifan, he deliberately erased all traces of the crime and quickly arranged for Su Han to leave on an A-rank mission.”

Leng Rufeng was truly worthy of being the Master of the Enforcement Hall. His investigative and deductive skills were extraordinary; he had managed to reconstruct about seventy to eighty percent of what had actually happened.

Su Han’s heart sank.

”That’s just your speculation. If conjecture alone is enough to convict me, then I can also speculate that you’re colluding with the Heavenly Demon Cult to destroy the Seven Stars Sect from within!” Su Han shot back, absolutely refusing to admit to anything.

”It is indeed my speculation, but I’m not without proof,” Leng Rufeng declared with conviction, seizing a critical clue. ”Luo Hongyi’s Golden Light Fiery Mirror is a Dao Artifact bestowed by the sect. We just need to search your Storage Ring and Yaoguang Peak. If we find the Golden Light Fiery Mirror, then you are the murderer!”

The Golden Light Fiery Mirror was unique. If it were found on Su Han, it would be irrefutable proof.

Su Han had already hidden the Golden Light Fiery Mirror in the Myriad Treasures Pavilion in Qian Yuan City, so he had no fear of a search. The search was completed quickly, and sure enough, the Golden Light Fiery Mirror was not found.

”He must have hidden it outside the sect! Su Han, recount your every move these past few days, in detail!” Leng Rufeng continued to press, determined to uncover everything.

”Enough!”

Before Su Han could speak, a furious shout erupted from Lei Ming.

His eyes blazed with fire as he stared down Leng Rufeng. ”You have no proof, only speculation! How dare you slander my disciple? Do you think Yaoguang Peak has no one to stand up for it?”
