Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

370: Odin’s delaying tacticHearing Odin’s questioning, Thor’s heart wavered slightly.

Recently, external conflicts seemed to point to Asgard, so how could Thor’s heart not be affected?

He certainly had doubts in his heart, but facing Odin’s majesty, Thor could only hide these doubts within him.

However, with only Odin and himself left in the temple, Thor’s worries subsided.

”God King, although what Michael and the Great Xia Gods said was baseless, if rumors are allowed to spread, the Gods of Asgard might develop other ideas.

Perhaps the best way to dispel doubts is to prove oneself.”

Thor’s words were subtle, implying that he wanted Odin to remove his eye patch and prove his innocence to the Gods.

”Hahaha, I knew you would think that way.” Odin, uncharacteristically, did not get angry, but laughed instead.

This left Thor a bit bewildered; today’s Odin felt somewhat unfamiliar to him.

”My child, there’s no one else here now, you and I don’t need to address each other by title.” A rare warmth appeared in Odin’s single eye.

Thor could hardly believe his ears. He gazed at Odin, and after a moment of hesitation, he tremblingly said,

”Father!”

Thor excitedly called out that long-lost address, and Odin smiled and nodded.

”Thor, what flows in your veins is my blood, and the future of Asgard is also yours.”

Suddenly, Odin’s expression became serious, ”So today, I am going to tell you something: the throne of Asgard is both glory and a kind of shackles.”

Odin sighed; at this moment, he seemed not to be the high and mighty God King, but merely an ordinary old man in his twilight years.

Thor saw the aging in Odin’s tone and couldn’t help but feel sorry for his father.

Odin slowly opened his mouth and continued, ”As a King, you must pay attention to your words and actions, and always maintain your majesty.

If you do whatever the enemy says, what’s the difference between that and a Puppet being manipulated?

Thor, you must remember that the best way to crush rumors is to wash them away with the enemy’s blood.

Your only weakness is that you are too pedantic and kind. You must remember that the Gods of Asgard need a strong individual, and a strong individual does not need to prove his innocence.”

Thor’s eyes welled up with tears, and a flame named hatred burned fiercely in his chest. Fine arcs of electricity wrapped around his body.

”Father, I understand. Please open the Rainbow Bridge immediately. I will bring Michael’s head back and offer it to you as a sacrifice.”

”Very good, my child, that is the attitude you should have,” Odin said admiringly.

But Odin immediately changed the subject, saying, ”However, as a leader, majesty alone is not enough; one also needs extraordinary wisdom.

If it were just Michael, I could eliminate him in minutes, but have you ever thought about why I still keep the Rainbow Bridge closed?”

Thor shook his head, ”Father, that is precisely what I don’t understand.”

”Because outside Asgard, there is definitely more than just Michael.

Even if Michael is arrogant, he wouldn’t dare challenge all of Asgard alone,” Odin said slowly.

”Could it be... Michael really conspired with those Cthulhu?” Thor asked.

Odin’s eyes were filled with worry, ”Thor, things might be worse than you imagine.”

”What?” Thor’s pupils immediately widened. He didn’t quite understand Odin’s meaning.

”The Cthulhu have not only corrupted Michael, but also Great Xia and other God Kingdoms. Otherwise, why do you think the first to come knocking was the Celestial Venerable of Great Xia?”

”This...” Odin’s words plunged Thor into deep thought. Had the Cthulhu not only corrupted Michael, but also Great Xia?

What was the situation outside now? Loki was still out there and hadn’t returned. Although he usually didn’t get along with his uncle, no matter what, he was still a God of Asgard, his kin.

”Thor, perhaps on this Earth, Asgard is already the last pure land,” Odin said, seeing that Thor had believed him, and continued to add fuel to the fire.

”Father, I didn’t expect the situation outside to be so dire. Loki still hasn’t returned to Asgard. Could it be...” Thor asked worriedly.

Odin shook his head, ”This is the next thing you need to learn. For the benefit of Asgard, sometimes sacrifices must be made.”

Thor was deeply shocked. He knew that Odin saying this meant that Asgard had given up on Loki.

”Father, what should we do next? Being trapped inside is not a long-term solution.”

Odin sat on the throne and slowly said, ”Don’t worry, I have my own plans for what comes next. As long as I achieve that Breakthrough, I can emulate Yelande from back then and Seal Cthulhu and many other evil Gods again.

The burden of saving the world will fall on Asgard’s shoulders this time.”

Odin’s righteous expression made Thor’s heart swell with excitement.

This time, was it Asgard’s turn to save the world?

At this moment, Thor suddenly remembered the ”Ragnarok” Odin had mentioned earlier. He asked worriedly,

”Father, is the Ragnarok you mentioned before this Cthulhu disaster?”

Odin sighed, ”Being a hero comes with a price, but for the sake of all living beings, even if the sacrifice is great, Asgard will not hesitate.

This is the World Tree’s guidance, and it is Asgard’s glory!”

Thor nodded heavily, ”Father, I understand. Please focus on your Breakthrough, and I will protect Asgard according to your commands.”

Odin slowly nodded. Thor’s personality had always been impulsive. As an idol to the young Gods of Asgard, keeping him stable was equivalent to stabilizing most of Asgard.

Now, he had bought himself time. The most important thing now was to bargain with the evil Gods of Cthulhu.

The promise he had demanded back then had never been fulfilled by the other party. Although he didn’t know what means Michael had left on the Moon, the time when he was absent was when the Moon’s Seal was weakest.

Crisis was also opportunity. As long as he seized this chance, he might be able to achieve a Breakthrough and become the second God on Earth, after Yelande, to reach the Ascended Realm.
