Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

351: The Purpose of the VoyeurAccording to the Night Watcher’s database, there has only been one recorded instance of the 【Spying Eye】 appearing.

That was twelve years ago in Cangnan City, when a sighting of the 【Spying Eye】 was recorded.

At that time, Chen Muye led the 136 Squad stationed in Cangnan and pursued the Mysterious for half a month, but failed to capture him.

Later, this Mysterious disappeared, and the existence of the 【Spying Eye】 gradually faded from memory.

That Mysterious is now referred to as the Spy Master in the Night Watcher’s database.

Now that the Spy Master has reappeared, Wang Mian can’t help but wonder if this is the same one that appeared in Cangnan twelve years ago.

Because the 【Spying Eye】 is so rare that the Night Watcher’s experts at the time unanimously concluded that this Forbidden Territory could not appear in the form of a Mysterious race.

The Mysterious looked at Wang Mian, his face hidden beneath the black top hat, making his expression unreadable.

Wang Mian’s breathing involuntarily tensed; he could feel that the Mysterious’s Mental Energy was extremely powerful, and without 【Yi Yuan】 in hand, the outcome of a fight would be uncertain.

Just as Wang Mian was on edge, the Spy Master suddenly spoke:

”It seems you have awakened from the impact of Cthulhu.”

Hmm?

The Spy Master’s words greatly surprised Wang Mian; how did he know that his mind had been corrupted by Cthulhu’s power?

”Was it you... who brought me here?” Wang Mian asked.

”Of course.” The Spy Master pulled his hat down further. ”With the current medical methods of you Night Watcher, there’s no way you could have been awakened from the impact of Cthulhu.”

”Who exactly are you? Why do you know about Cthulhu? And what is your purpose in saving me?”

Although the Mysterious only spoke a few short sentences, the shock he brought to Wang Mian was immense.

If what the Mysterious said was true, then at least for now, he and Wang Mian should be on the same side.

”You have too many questions. Please give me some time to answer them slowly.”

With that, the Spy Master placed the bag he was holding in front of Wang Mian.

Wang Mian looked down and saw that it contained some barbecue.

”This is...”

The Spy Master shrugged. ”According to your human customs, when you’ve just recovered from a serious illness, you need to eat something good to replenish your body, right?

I don’t really have a concept of ’good food.’ I just bought whatever was at the busiest shop.”

Wang Mian’s stomach rumbled; he was indeed hungry. He opened the bag and found that what the Spy Master had bought were all ”great tonics” like kidneys, lamb testicles, and lamb penis.

”Uh...” Wang Mian hesitated to speak.

The Spy Master noticed Wang Mian’s awkwardness and said, ”What, is it not to your taste?”

”It’s fine, it’s fine.” With that, he picked up a skewer of lamb kidneys and began to eat.

He recalled the scene where Whirlpool had mocked him for being a quick man, so he took several fierce bites and swallowed the kidneys.

The Spy Master continued, ”The reason I saved you is to follow the guidance of that great existence.”

”A great existence? Who exactly is the one behind you?”

Wang Mian was even more puzzled; he hadn’t expected there to be someone else directing things behind this matter.

If viewed this way, perhaps the fishing village incident was even more complex than he had imagined.

From what he could see, Loki, Chen Lu, Song Zhong, his future self, and others were already involved.

Now, with the addition of a Mysterious Spy Master, what exactly is going on behind all this?

The Spy Master smiled calmly, ”That great existence is someone you are very familiar with; he is the Angel King, Lord Michael.”

”What? You’re actually a follower of Michael?” Wang Mian was even more astonished.

If that was the case, then wasn’t the Spy Master saving him from Cthulhu’s corruption according to Michael’s will?

But why would Michael do that?

”You must be very curious, aren’t you?” The Spy Master smiled slightly. ”Actually, the root cause of everything comes from Cthulhu.”

The Spy Master raised his finger and lightly tapped towards the Void Realm, and a holographic projection-like image appeared before Wang Mian.

”Look, this is the Red Moon from that day. In fact, the moon you see is just a huge Seal, and all of the Cthulhu Gods are within it.”

”The Cthulhu Gods are sealed? Then why did that thing appear in the fishing village?” Wang Mian asked.

”It’s simple, because someone broke the Seal and released Cthulhu’s power.

But Lord Michael doesn’t know who dared to be so bold, so he gave me a Divine Power, instructing me to investigate this matter on Earth.”

It turned out that the Spy Master’s target was also Cthulhu.

”But what does that have to do with saving me?” Wang Mian asked.

The Spy Master investigating the mastermind who released Cthulhu seemed to have no necessary connection to saving him.

”There are two reasons. First, Kronos and Lord Michael are the closest comrades-in-arms. Second, a power capable of restraining Cthulhu seems to have appeared in Great Xia, and Lord Michael is very interested in the one who controls that power.

And you, it seems, have a deep connection with that one. This is why I saved you.”

The Spy Master recounted everything, explaining the situation in detail.

Wang Mian finally understood the situation. ”So, you want me to take you to find Song Zhong?”

The Spy Master nodded. ”Indeed. Now, the Cthulhu lurking on Earth are stirring, and the Seal on the moon has also loosened. The current situation is truly not optimistic.

If we let the situation develop further, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

Wang Mian nodded. ”I understand. What do you plan to do after you meet Song Zhong?”

”I don’t know. Perhaps by then, Lord Michael will convey a new Divine Power to me.”

”I understand. However, before we find Song Zhong, I need to inform my companions.”

The Spy Master shook his head. ”We have already left Shangjing City and are in Anta County.”

Wang Mian asked curiously, ”You actually brought me out of Shangjing City so easily? And no one noticed?”

The Spy Master smiled and said, ”As the saying goes, ’every profession has its master.’ In terms of combat power, I certainly have nothing to boast about, but when it comes to stealth and escape, I am quite skilled.”

Wang Mian wiped the grease from his hands and said, ”Alright, indeed, the Cthulhu matter is quite urgent right now. So, let’s go find Song Zhong.”

The Spy Master nodded and said, ”I’ve investigated in Anta County, but unfortunately, I haven’t found any trace of Song Zhong.”

Wang Mian smiled slightly, ”It’s actually very simple to see Song Zhong; you just need to pray to him, and you will receive a response.”

The Spy Master’s face flushed with embarrassment. ”I am a devout follower of Lord Michael; how can I pray to someone else?”

Wang Mian laughed heartily, ”Finding Song Zhong is Michael’s Divine Power to you, isn’t it? If you don’t do it, Michael might be disappointed, you know.”

Beneath the Spy Master’s hat brim, a red light flickered, as if he was in a dilemma.
