Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

153: You are the only ancient god in my eyes!Freedom?

Shen Qingzhu was momentarily lost in thought. Ever since he came here, the word freedom seemed to drift further and further away from him.

Whoosh!

Shen Qingzhu let out a long breath. At this point, he felt he had nothing left to hide from Song Zhong.

”You know me. I’ve always been on the Night Watcher’s side. So, aren’t you afraid I’ll expose your plan to the Night Watcher?”

”What’s there to worry about? Besides, it’s not your place to expose me. Do you think the spy Whisper planted would let me infiltrate the Zhaijie Institute so easily?”

”Ah?”

Hearing Song Zhong’s words, Shen Qingzhu’s expression was much like a marmot’s. Had he actually thought of that angle?

”Then? Then doesn’t that mean the Zhaijie Institute has already set up a net, waiting for you?” Shen Qingzhu blurted out.

”Oh? What, you seem concerned about my safety now?” Song Zhong said playfully.

”No!” Shen Qingzhu quickly denied it. Are you kidding? He was a Night Watcher; he wished everyone from the Ancient God Church would just die.

”I’m just worried about the Night Watcher’s casualties!” Shen Qingzhu added.

”What, you don’t care about other people’s lives? If that’s truly the case, then there’s no need for the Night Watcher to establish the Zhaijie Institute. Just kill everyone.”

Song Zhong looked at Shen Qingzhu, ”Think about it, isn’t that the truth?”

Shen Qingzhu thought carefully. Song Zhong’s words seemed to make some sense, but also felt a bit off.

”If your starting point is to hope fewer people die, then your goal should be to become a strong person!”

Song Zhong sat down in the chair and began to speak: ”Because humans, this animal, always hope to have strong people to lead them. So only by becoming a strong person can you do greater things.”

”Look out the window. When you are at the foot of the mountain, you can only see the nearby woods and grass. But when you stand on the top of the mountain, you can see more scenery.”

”Imagine, if you, Shen Qingzhu, became the pinnacle of this world, then everyone, even the gods, would have to obey your will.”

”When the order’s chaos or lack thereof is decided by you, would you still worry about these problems?”

”As long as you are willing, the Ancient God Church and the Night Watcher can even sit together, drink, sing, and eat hotpot!”

”Think about it carefully, isn’t that right?”

Listening to Song Zhong’s words, flashes of lightning seemed to cross Shen Qingzhu’s mind.

He vaguely had some idea in his heart, but he didn’t dare to admit it.

”I’ll take you somewhere!” Song Zhong stood up and took Shen Qingzhu’s hand. The next second, the two of them turned into glowing light and disappeared into the wooden house.

Shen Qingzhu’s consciousness blurred, but the next second, his consciousness returned.

He looked around and found himself in the dilapidated temple of the Ancient God Church.

He had been here once before with the Snake Woman.

The difference was that before, there were three thrones above, but now, there were four.

Song Zhong stood on the high platform and beckoned to Shen Qingzhu.

”Shen Qingzhu, come over!”

”Me?” Shen Qingzhu was somewhat disbelieving.

”That’s right, come, come up!”

Shen Qingzhu’s heart rate quickened, and a restless heat spread from his chest throughout his body.

Sweat seeped from his body.

As if by some supernatural influence, Shen Qingzhu walked step by step, step by step, up the stairs and onto the high platform.

”Come closer!” Song Zhong urged.

Shen Qingzhu swallowed, his hands unconsciously clenched.

He walked to Song Zhong’s side, and Song Zhong pressed Shen Qingzhu onto the throne.

Shen Qingzhu sat down with a thud, but felt as if an electric current shot from his buttocks straight to the back of his head, making his whole body feel numb.

Is this the supreme throne of the Ancient God Church?

”How does it feel? Shen Qingzhu?” Song Zhong’s voice rang in his ear, drilling into Shen Qingzhu’s head.

”I don’t know, it feels, it feels a bit high!” Shen Qingzhu’s mind was like a muddle, and he spoke incoherently.

”High? High is right. When you reach this position one day, you can make the Ancient God Church turn over a new leaf. The Ancient God Church can also do the same things as the Night Watcher, but the premise is, you have to be strong enough!”

”I have to be strong enough?” Shen Qingzhu repeated the sentence.

Yes, as long as he was strong enough, he could completely change the Ancient God Church and bring about a great revolution, thus avoiding more bloodshed and sacrifice.

But he was too weak.

”But I’m too weak!” Shen Qingzhu murmured.

”So, as I said before, humans always hope to have strong people to lead them, so Shen Qingzhu!”

”I ask you, are you willing to let me be your guide?”

...

Shen Qingzhu walked on the mountain path, feeling light-footed and agile.

Recalling everything that had just happened, it felt like a dream.

”Song Zhong is truly a strange person!”

When Song Zhong asked Shen Qingzhu if he wanted to choose him as his guide, Shen Qingzhu hesitated.

Just when Shen Qingzhu had an answer in his heart, that guy actually told him that he was just joking.

”Hehehe, Shen Qingzhu, you’re really easy to fool. This broken chair is nothing special except for being hard on the butt and high up.”

Shen Qingzhu’s face turned red. He was annoyed in his heart but couldn’t say anything.

So, you were just toying with me just now?

Afterward, Song Zhong took Shen Qingzhu back to the wooden house, and after returning, he sent him away.

Shen Qingzhu shook his head, trying to clear Song Zhong from his mind, but he couldn’t.

”Forget it, I’ll report back to Whisper first!”

Shen Qingzhu arrived at the meeting point he had agreed upon with Whisper, which was a park in a nearby city.

He came to a bench, and as soon as he sat down, a figure in a tuxedo walked over from not far away.

Whisper sat down next to Shen Qingzhu as if nothing had happened and asked:

”How were things today?”

Shen Qingzhu recounted his meeting with Song Zhong, of course omitting the conversations involving the undercover work.

”All in all, Song Zhong didn’t ask me to do anything, but he also didn’t turn me away.”

Whisper nodded, ”As expected. For now, you can just follow his orders. If there are any changes, report them to me promptly.”

Shen Qingzhu then said, ”Lord Whisper, I have an idea. Since Song Zhong plans to attack the Zhaijie Institute, why don’t we use this opportunity to get rid of him?”

Whisper’s eyes lit up. ”Oh? Shen Qingzhu, do you know that Song Zhong is the Fourth Ancient God? Just for that sentence, I could flay you alive and throw you into purgatory.”

Shen Qingzhu was not flustered at all. He placed his right hand on his chest and said devoutly, ”Lord Whisper, in my eyes, there is only one Ancient God in the Church, and that is you!”
