Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

79: Medusa’s left eye!”Did you kill him?” Han Shaoyun asked.

”Hmph, if I didn’t kill him, should I keep him for the New Year?”

”He shouldn’t have the guts to betray us,” Han Shaoyun said helplessly.

”I know he doesn’t have the guts to betray us, but our secret has been exposed, which means we’ve been targeted by that Mysterious person for a long time.”

The snake woman glanced at Han Shaoyun, ”It’s no longer safe here. Perhaps that Mysterious person is watching us nearby.”

Han Shaoyun looked at the snake woman in surprise, ”Is that so? I never noticed your vigilance was so high before.”

”Better safe than sorry. Even if I’m overthinking it, for safety, we must move.”

”Move where? This is our only foothold in Cangnan City right now.”

”Haha, Han Shaoyun, I’ll give you a few days off. All actions will wait for my call.” The snake woman looked at him with a smile.

”You’re changing the plan?” Han Shaoyun frowned.

”Someone is forcing me to change the plan.” A glint of excitement suddenly flashed in the snake woman’s eyes. She licked her lips, ”However, only unexpected events can bring me excitement.”

”I understand.” Han Shaoyun said nothing more, went back to his room, grabbed his belongings, and left the villa.

After Han Shaoyun left, the snake woman took out an old-fashioned phone and dialed a number.

This was a type of Forbidden item, [NJY].

It was a special communication method among formal members of the Ancient God Church, capable of avoiding detection by Great Xia’s network signals.

Soon, a hoarse voice came from the other end of the Forbidden item, ”Snake woman, did something go wrong on your end when you called me?”

”Whisper, here’s the situation.”

The snake woman explained the situation to Whisper, and Whisper on the other end also frowned.

”Our spy has been pulled out? And we don’t even know the identity of the other party?” Whisper’s tone was very calm, but everyone in the Ancient God Church knew that the calmer he was, the angrier Whisper was.

”Yes, so I plan to advance the plan...”

”I know,” Whisper interrupted the snake woman, ”Since things have changed, we can’t stick to the old ways. I’m afraid the longer we drag this out, the stronger the Night Watcher’s defenses will become.”

”I’ll arrange manpower for you. As for Lin Qi Ye, if you can’t win him over, destroy him.”

The snake woman’s eyes grew even more excited, ”Praise the Ancient God, Whisper, I understand!”

...

Chen Muye once again got into the car bound for the Training Camp. This time, Instructor Hong personally drove to pick him up.

The first time is unfamiliar, the second time is familiar. Now, the two of them could be considered old acquaintances.

”Instructor Hong, I wonder what Commander Yuan Gang wants to see me about this time?”

”He wants to consult you about Song Zhong.”

Hearing Instructor Hong’s reply, Chen Muye nodded. It was pretty much as he had expected; they would definitely investigate Song Zhong.

”Haha, you don’t have to be too nervous. Commander Yuan Gang just wants to understand the situation.”

An hour later, Chen Muye was already sitting in Yuan Gang’s office.

Yuan Gang brewed a cup of tea for Chen Muye and said, ”Captain Chen, I apologize for troubling you to come all this way again.”

”Not at all, we are all Night Watchers. Please just say whatever you need to.”

Yuan Gang nodded, ”Then I’ll get straight to the point. We suspect that the intruder who infiltrated the Training Camp earlier was the Mysterious person, Song Zhong, who appeared in Cangnan City.”

Chen Muye’s expression didn’t change, ”So, you’ve already seen Archive No. 136 for Cangnan City this year?”

”That’s right, so I want to hear your judgment.”

”Then can you tell me what the intruder did that night?” Chen Muye asked. He was genuinely curious.

”You already know about the impersonation. That night, he killed three instructors.”

Hiss!

Chen Muye gasped, and sweat instantly broke out on his back.

”He... actually killed three instructors?”

Chen Muye simply couldn’t believe it. Previously, a very important reason Chen Muye thought Song Zhong could be cooperated with was that while his behavior was strange, it didn’t fundamentally endanger public safety.

But now it was different. He had killed three instructors, which meant he had already stood on the opposite side of the Night Watcher, and he himself had indirectly become an accomplice.

Chen Muye’s mood was very complicated now. He had actually helped someone kill his colleagues.

Yuan Gang saw that Chen Muye’s expression wasn’t quite right and thought Chen Muye was shocked by the news.

”Those three instructors were spies planted by the Ancient God Church.”

”What?”

Chen Muye’s head buzzed, and he simply couldn’t believe his ears.

”Spies? Those three were spies from the Ancient God Church?”

Yuan Gang nodded, ”That’s right, my reaction at the time was pretty much the same as yours.”

Chen Muye’s hanging heart finally settled. Thankfully, for a moment just now, Chen Muye almost thought he had become a villain.

”Was there any particularly... unique style at the scene?” Chen Muye asked.

”Yes, it looked like a sacrifice.”

Chen Muye sighed, ”It must be him, then.”

Yuan Gang heard the answer he wanted, ”The archives record that you had a confrontation with Song Zhong? What kind of person is he, and what is his Forbidden Territory ability?”

”Well, to be honest, his abilities are very complex, so complex that it doesn’t seem like he has a Forbidden Territory.”

Then, he briefly introduced his battle with Song Zhong to Yuan Gang.

Of course, he concealed what happened in the King of Hell’s Palace.

Yuan Gang rubbed his teacup, ”So, this Song Zhong is very likely a God’s Proxy. It also seems like he’s an Evil God.”

”There is indeed that possibility, but so far, we haven’t found any traces of the Ancient God Church.”

”I see. Then, Captain Chen, if it were you, what would you do now?” Yuan Gang asked.

”Me? You think too highly of me.”

”The famous Black Impermanence, I wouldn’t dare underestimate him,” Yuan Gang said.

”I didn’t expect anyone to still remember that name.” Seeing that he couldn’t decline, Chen Muye said, ”My idea is, regardless of anything else, to prioritize safety first. So, the most dangerous thing right now isn’t Song Zhong, but the Ancient God Church.”

Yuan Gang’s eyes immediately lit up, ”Great minds think alike.”

Indeed, the Ancient God Church had expended so much effort to arrange for spies to infiltrate, so they must be after something significant.

Chen Muye continued, ”I think the Ancient God Church is mostly coming for Lin Qi Ye.”

”Continue.”

”If that’s the case, why don’t we separate Lin Qi Ye from the other new recruits? We’ll be responsible for Lin Qi Ye’s protection and wait for the Ancient God Church to take the bait.”

Yuan Gang rested his chin on his hands, his brows tightly furrowed...

By the Cangnan River, Song Zhong was sitting by the river washing his feet. The sun was warm, and the sky was blue.

”Ugh! How troublesome. Why haven’t those Ancient God Church guys made a move yet? This way, I can’t even find anyone.”

He opened his mission interface, and a very concisely described mission appeared on the list.
