Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

78: What? Three traitors among us?Under the treatment of the Black Jade Healing Paste, Yuan Gang was already able to move freely.

Thump thump thump!

Knocking sounds came from outside Yuan Gang’s office door.

”Come in!”

After hearing Yuan Gang’s permission, Instructor Hong walked in.

”Chief, the investigation results are out!”

”Oh? That fast? Have you found out the identity of that person?”

Instructor Hong found it a bit difficult to speak, ”Well, Chief, the intruder’s information hasn’t been found yet, but we found some other things.”

”Really?” Yuan Gang was a bit disappointed when he heard that the intruder’s identity hadn’t been verified.

”Let me see it!” Yuan Gang said.

Instructor Hong handed over the document, ”Chief, please take a look.”

Yuan Gang took the document, and as soon as he opened the first page, his eyes widened.

Li Yaoguang, enlisted in 1989.

After being selected as a Training Camp instructor, two unknown sums of money were deposited into his parents’ online bank accounts, one for 2 million and one for 3 million.

Wang Gui and Wu Ruotong also had similar situations.

Through online tracing, it has been confirmed that the source of these funds is related to the Ancient God Church.

”Hong Hao, is the information... accurate?” Yuan Gang’s heart had turned ice cold.

”The information is accurate; those three people indeed have problems,” Instructor Hong replied.

Yuan Gang suddenly sneered, ”So, three traitors appeared among the Training Camp instructors, and not only were we kept in the dark, but an intruder even cleaned up our mess for us, is that right?”

”Hong Hao, is that how it is, right?”

Instructor Hong nodded slightly; from the results, it was indeed so.

Yuan Gang threw the document on the table and leaned back in his chair.

”It’s over; this time, we’ve truly disgraced ourselves completely.”

What kind of situation was this? The dignified Vice Captain of the Shangjing City Night Watcher 006 Squad was clamoring to avenge the three hidden operatives of the Ancient God Church.

Fortunately, he didn’t succeed in avenging them; if he had, he would have been in an utterly embarrassing situation, like mud in his pants—even if it wasn’t feces, it would look like it.

”Hong Hao, how do you think that intruder knew they were traitors?”

Hong Hao pondered for a moment and said, ”Is there a possibility it was just a coincidence?”

Yuan Gang shook his head, ”You don’t know, before that guy left, he told me he was looking forward to seeing my expression next time we met.”

He said firmly, ”That intruder must have known those three guys were traitors long ago.”

”He was toying with me, toying with us, from beginning to end.”

”Chief, although we cannot yet determine the intruder’s identity, based on the current records of Mysterious incidents, there’s a person in one of the files who might be worth suspecting.”

Yuan Gang immediately became interested, ”Tell me about it.”

”According to the 136th Mysterious record incident previously submitted by Cangnan City, an unknown ability user named Song Zhong appeared in Cangnan City not long ago and showed up in both the Ghost Face and Nanda Snake Demon incidents,” Instructor Hong said while handing another document to Yuan Gang.

”Song Zhong?”

Yuan Gang flipped through Archive No. 136, his expression growing more and more puzzled.

”Old Hong, from what’s recorded in the file, this person is a bit strange.”

Hong Hao nodded, ”Indeed, purely from the outcome of the events, he only killed Mysterious beings, seemingly to complete some kind of sacrificial ritual.”

”Sacrificial ritual?” Yuan Gang suddenly remembered that day when the three traitor instructors were arranged in a strange pose, which also seemed very similar to a sacrifice.

”Yes!” Instructor Hong continued, ”However, 136 Squad has not yet clearly investigated the Mysterious person’s true purpose and can only temporarily archive it, but from the feedback of existing data, this intruder’s behavior is very similar to that of Mysterious Person No. 136.”

Yuan Gang nodded, ”And it’s in Cangnan City again. I can judge, no, I can confirm that the intruder is definitely Song Zhong.”

Suddenly, Yuan Gang asked, ”Old Hong, this data records that Chen Muye fought with that guy?”

Instructor Hong nodded, ”That’s right, Chen Muye lost.”

”Old Hong, please help me contact Captain Chen and invite him to the Training Camp again. I have something I need to verify with him in person.”

Hong Hao nodded, ”Understood, I’ll arrange it right away. Also, Chief, I have one more thing I’d like to ask your permission for.”

”Speak!” Yuan Gang’s attention was still on Song Zhong’s information.

”Well, could you help me get reimbursed for my phone? Mine broke, and I bought a new one.”

Yuan Gang’s expression became awkward, ”Okay, just bring it to me for a signature then.”

...

Inside a suburban villa in Cangnan City.

The fat man was in the room reporting to the Snake Girl and Han Shaoyun.

”Young Miss Snake Girl, Mr. Han, it has been confirmed that all three of our hidden operatives embedded among the instructors have been killed.”

After speaking, sweat broke out on the fat man’s forehead again.

”What?” The Snake Girl stared at the fat man, ”You’re saying all the hidden operatives we painstakingly cultivated are dead?”

”Yes, yes, Lady Snake Girl!”

”Hehehe, is this your great accomplishment? How long has the Training Camp been open, and the people you arranged for have been rooted out by the Night Watcher.” The Snake Girl looked at the fat man coldly, ”Whisper granted me command of this operation. Tell me, what should I do now?”

The fat man heard the killing intent in the Snake Girl’s tone. He was just a subordinate, and when he heard the Snake Girl intended to shift the blame to him, he was stunned.

”Well, Lady Snake Girl, the situation is a bit different. Those three hidden operatives weren’t taken out by the Night Watcher. This information comes from within the Night Watcher; it’s absolutely true.”

The fat man quickly explained.

Upon hearing this, not only the Snake Girl but even Han Shaoyun was stunned.

”What do you mean? Our Ancient God Church’s informants within the Night Watcher were taken out by a third party?” Han Shaoyun asked.

”Yes, although it sounds incredible, that’s the fact, and the Night Watcher is also investigating that person’s identity now.”

”Besides the Night Watcher, what other force dares to provoke our Ancient God Church?” the Snake Girl asked, ”Moreover, how could such a confidential matter as developing hidden operatives be so clearly understood by others? Could it be that our Ancient God Church has also been infiltrated?”

After speaking, the Snake Girl glanced at Han Shaoyun.

Han Shaoyun snorted coldly, ”How is that possible? Believers are all bound by Soul contracts set by Whisper; they cannot betray us.”

”Then, does that mean the problem lies with the subordinates?” The Snake Girl directed her gaze at the fat man.

The fat man instantly turned pale with fright, ”Young Miss Snake Girl, please let me explain, I am absolutely loyal to the Ancient God Church...”

Before he could finish his sentence, he found his body beginning to petrify. In less than a second, the fat man turned into a stone statue.
