Zhan Shen: It’s Just a Sacrifice, How Can I Become a Villain?

51: Masked Vortex, I would like to wish everyone a happy new year!Yuan Gang scanned the new recruits.

“I can tell you right now, in your current state, even if you reach the Klein Realm, you’re just slightly more powerful trash! If you encounter a true powerhouse, you won’t even last a single move. Do you believe me?”

“I don’t!”

“Isn’t that a bit alarmist?”

“Exactly!”

Some of the more active new recruits began to whisper.

“Hey, Lin Qi Ye, do you think the instructor’s words are a bit much?”

Bai Li Pang Pang lightly nudged Lin Qi Ye, who had just acknowledged him as a friend.

“The instructor is right!” Lin Qi Ye replied.

He had truly experienced battles with the Mysterious. Lin Qi Ye’s mind was filled with memories of the Ghost Face King and the Nanda Snake Demon, as well as that Mask.

Battles with the Mysterious aren’t as simple as just fighting. If these new recruits were truly put into a squad to fight them, probably no more than a handful would survive.

“Only by truly fighting the Mysterious will you know how terrifying they are!”

Bai Li Pang Pang looked at Lin Qi Ye in surprise, “You’ve fought the Mysterious? I’ve never even seen a living Mysterious.”

Lin Qi Ye nodded.

Bai Li Pang Pang’s eyes immediately filled with envy, “So amazing! Then I believe you!”

Yuan Gang above continued, “How many of you have participated in battles with the Mysterious?”

The training ground immediately fell silent.

Just as Lin Qi Ye had predicted, very few of these new recruits had fought the Mysterious.

“Hmph! So, you’re just well-protected flowers who haven’t truly experienced the storm! Alright! Since so many of you are unconvinced, let’s play a game!”

“A game?”

“What game? Aren’t we here for intensive training?”

“Hey, hey, you don’t think the game the instructor mentioned is the kind you’re thinking of, do you?”

Seeing that everyone was interested, Yuan Gang continued:

“This is a simulated training based on actual combat! Next, I will describe the rules.”

“The name of this game is the ‘Number Tag Scramble’!”

“For this simulated training, we have specially invited five Mysterious guests to act as simulated Mysterious!”

“And your task is to snatch the red number tags from them!”

“Snatch one, get ten points!”

“Similarly, I will give each of you new recruits a white number tag shortly!”

“At the end of the game, successfully protecting your own number tag earns you one point!”

Hearing Yuan Gang’s description, the new recruits below were a bit confused, “We also have to protect our own number tags? Can we also snatch them from each other?”

Yuan Gang shook his head, “New recruits are forbidden from snatching number tags from each other, but the Mysterious with red number tags will attack you!”

“Then what happens if my number tag is snatched by the Mysterious?”

“If your number tag is snatched, it means you ‘died’ in this operation! The number tags have electronic chips inside!”

“Once activated by the Mysterious, your names will turn red!”

After hearing the basic rules of the game, the new recruits below began to discuss.

“There are a total of five Mysterious, which means we can get a maximum of 51 points.”

“That’s just the ideal scenario. Those chosen by the instructors to be the Mysterious definitely aren’t ordinary people!”

“So, to be safe, as long as we protect our own number tags, we’ll get one point!”

“Are you saying we just need to focus on protecting ourselves?”

“Yes, there are only five Mysterious, and there are over two hundred of us new recruits. It won’t be easy for them to catch us!”

“Instructor, excuse me, what Realm are those people playing the Mysterious in?” Someone among the new recruits suddenly asked.

A smile appeared on Yuan Gang’s lips, “Just like you, they are all in the Zhan Realm!”

“Zhan Realm?”

“Haha, so they’re the same as us, then what’s there to be afraid of?!”

“Indeed, if they’re in the Zhan Realm, it’s not impossible for us to get red number tags!”

Looking at the laughing new recruits, Yuan Gang said in a deep voice, “The competition venue is the mountain range behind us. The game period is ten days. After ten days, we will have the final settlement here!”

The new recruits looked in the direction Yuan Gang pointed, which was a tall mountain.

“A quick reminder, we’ve set up an electronic fence at the foot of the mountain. If you try to sneak out, it will be directly judged as ‘death’!”

“Now, please welcome the Mysterious to the stage!”

After Yuan Gang finished speaking, he looked up at the sky, and the new recruits also followed suit.

Suddenly, a new recruit noticed seven black dots in the sky!

“Look, someone’s coming down!”

The sky was clear and blue, without a single cloud.

The seven black dots gradually grew larger, descending freely without any protective gear.

“Is this a movie? Won’t the Mysterious fall to their deaths?”

“How could they! They were carefully selected!”

High in the sky, the young man wearing the Whirlpool Mask was trying to calm his emotions!

Ah ah ah ah ah ah!

Captain, help me ah ah ah ah ah ah!

“Do you have to be so agitated? I’m calmer than you, old lady!” said the woman wearing the Rose Mask.

“I have a fear of heights! It’s something I’ve had since birth, I don’t want this ah ah ah ah! Balance, can you catch me?”

The man wearing the Balance Mask sounded a bit helpless, “I can, but there’s no need! You’re tough as nails, you won’t die!”

“Balance, you can’t do this to me, falling will hurt a lot!”

Captain Wang Mian looked down, “Whirlpool, mind your image. We’re about to land. Yelling too loudly will be embarrassing!”

Whirlpool covered his mouth, “Okay, I’ll try to be careful!”

As they got closer to the ground, the new recruits gradually made them out.

“Holy cow, it looks like the Mask Squad!”

“Remove the ‘looks like,’ it IS them, especially their captain, he’s too distinctive!”

“Well, I’ll be darned, they called in a special squad just to train us?”

The reputation of the special squad was simply too great; they were the most Mysterious existence among the Night Watchers.

Amidst everyone’s exclamations, the person wearing the Balance Mask extended a finger and flicked it lightly. The seven people seemed to lose their weight, floating gently to the ground.

Under the sunlight, their cloaks fluttered, and their Masks gleamed.

This entrance was quite cool!

Wang Mian calmly looked at the new recruits, “Hello everyone, we are the Mask Squad, and we are this time…”

Before he could finish speaking, Whirlpool’s legs suddenly gave out, and he plopped down on his knees in front of the new recruits.

The silence at this moment was deafening!

The fists of the Mask Squad members hardened!

The instructors’ expressions also turned awkward!

The new recruits were utterly confused, not knowing what kind of regional etiquette this was!

Someone guessed something but then denied it. What a joke, that was a special squad, the elite of the elite among the entire Great Xia Night Watchers.

Whirlpool accepted reality. The sky was very blue, the sun was very warm, and he was very embarrassed!

After his brain’s CPU processed the situation, he cupped his hands towards the new recruits.

“I am Whirlpool, and I wish you all an early New Year!”

PS: The protagonist will not join the Night Watchers. He came here not only because of his agreement with Chen Muye but also with his own mission.
