Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1791: Chapter 1087: Business and Orders

After chatting with Lan Xi for more than half an hour, a tall, thin middle-aged man finally arrived at the private room.

Before the person even reached the room, Yang Zhenshan rose to his feet. When the knock on the door came, he personally went to open it. Seeing the person outside, he clasped his hands in a bow, ”Yang Zhenshan of the Yang family greets Senior Qi He!”

Qi He appeared to be in his forties, tall and thin, with a long face and prominent eye bags, but his expression looked quite kind.

”Yang Zhenshan, haha, I’ve heard of you. White Cloud True Monarch mentioned you to me!”

Qi He entered the room, and Lan Xi quickly saluted and said, ”Greetings, Martial Uncle!”

”Have a seat!” Qi He nodded, inviting Yang Zhenshan to sit down.

The three of them sat down again, with the junior Lan Xi obediently pouring tea and water for the two Golden Core cultivators.

Qi He studied Yang Zhenshan for a moment, ”Where is White Cloud?”

Yang Zhenshan lowered his eyes slightly, ”After the battle at True Yang Immortal City, my senior brother disappeared and hasn’t shown up since!”

Whether White Cloud True Monarch was dead or not is still a mystery to this day, apart from An Wusheng who pursued him then, no one knows if White Cloud True Monarch is truly dead.

However, everyone believes that White Cloud True Monarch is already dead, and even Yang Zhenshan thinks so.

”Disappeared!” Qi He was surprised. He was really unaware of the situation of the Sky Cloud Sword Sect, and not just that; he rarely paid attention to the changes in the Wanhua Mountain Range either.

After all, the situation in the Wanhua Mountain Range does not have much to do with their Hengshan Sect.

”No wonder, I was wondering why White Cloud hasn’t come in over a decade. I thought he had embezzled the elixir meant for our Hengshan Sect!” Qi He shook his head slightly as he spoke.

He had some acquaintance with White Cloud True Monarch, but it was not deep. It was True Monarch Zhao Yuan of the Li family of the Immortal Clan who introduced White Cloud to him. Later, White Cloud participated in the war in the Southern Domain and helped Hengshan Sect somewhat, so he handed some elixir orders to White Cloud then.

”What’s the situation over in the Wanhua Mountain Range now?” Qi He asked.

Yang Zhenshan replied, ”The Wanhua Demon Court expelled the Unpredictable Ghost Sect a decade ago, but the Unpredictable Ghost Sect hasn’t given up. They still occupy a corner of the Wanhua Mountain Range and could make a comeback at any time!”

”I see!” Qi He nodded. He wasn’t too concerned with the Unpredictable Ghost Sect. Though they are also a top-tier force in the Central Domain, the Unpredictable Ghost Sect is somewhat unsociable, having no cooperation or much interaction with the few other top-tier forces.

Yang Zhenshan took out a storage bag and handed it to Qi He, saying, ”Senior, these are the elixirs my senior brother had me refine. Please inspect them! If there’s anything amiss, I am ready to make up for it!”

This transaction was arranged by White Cloud True Monarch, and Yang Zhenshan wasn’t very clear about the specifics.

White Cloud True Monarch surely had a commission in it, but the types and quantities of elixirs shouldn’t be incorrect.

Qi He was not at all polite and opened the storage bag to inspect its contents. ”This order was originally supposed to be delivered ten years ago, but due to this unexpected situation, I won’t hold it against you!”

As he spoke, he took out several porcelain bottles and carefully checked the elixirs inside.

”Your alchemy skills are quite high, not much inferior to those old fellows from the Ten Thousand Treasures Sect, the quality is good!”

He complimented.

With Yang Zhenshan’s current level of alchemy, he should count as outstanding among third-order alchemists. While there’s still a slight gap with the very top tier of alchemists, he is better than most third-order alchemists.

However, Yang Zhenshan has his shortcomings. The third-order elixirs he can refine are just a few, mainly top-grade Demon Yuan Pill, Tongming Pill, Thunder Tribulation Pill, and Soul Revival Pill. As for other third-order elixirs, his pill-forming rate doesn’t have any advantage.

And he is completely clueless about the top-tier third-order elixirs.

Like the Nine Tripod Divine Pill and Evergreen Pill, he simply cannot refine them in a short time.

”The quantity is fine!” Qi He nodded with satisfaction.

Yang Zhenshan smiled, ”As long as you are satisfied, senior! If senior values my alchemy skills, I am willing to continue refining elixirs for your sect!”

”Oh!” Qi He looked up at him, then a faint smile appeared on his face, ”Okay, but for these few elixirs, we currently don’t have much demand; we need other elixirs instead!”

”I have no issues, even if it’s completely unfamiliar elixirs, I can give it a try. If I can’t meet senior’s requirements, I can purchase from the Ten Thousand Treasures Sect to make up the difference for your sect!” Yang Zhenshan said.

Refining a new type of elixir involves many uncertainties.

Though a third-order alchemist does not need to fail dozens to hundreds of times like a first-order alchemist to produce an elixir, it’s still common to initially fail seven or eight times in a row.

It’s important to know that the herbs required for refining third-order elixirs are extremely precious, and each failure represents a significant loss.

Hengshan Sect surely won’t expend a large amount of resources for Yang Zhenshan to familiarize himself with the elixir recipe; they will only pay him at the going rate.

The normal pay for a third-order alchemist is roughly two for one, meaning hiring someone to refine one elixir requires providing herbs for two elixirs, with additional compensation typically involving extra herbs as a bonus.

It’s usually around three elixirs for seven sets of herbs.

The herbs Yang Zhenshan received previously were twice the order amount, and the extra compensation was taken by White Cloud True Monarch.

In other words, for every three elixirs Yang Zhenshan refined, White Cloud True Monarch would receive the herbs needed to refine one elixir.
