Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 251: Chapter 342 You Play Dirty!

Duobato leapt forward and struck towards Wang Bin again, who kept retreating, all his trusted aides in front of him had already fallen.

Wang Bin stared intently at the curved blade slashing towards him, with only one thought in his mind.

Brother Yang, hurry up! I’m about to lose my life!

Right at that moment, the whistling sound of something cutting through the air approached.

Duobato, who was ready to decapitate Wang Bin, saw a glimpse of caution flash in his eyes, and without hesitation abandoned the imminent beheading, flipping and soaring in mid-air, narrowly dodging the incoming Short Spear!

”Duobato!”

The next moment, Yang Zhenshan came charging alone on his horse.

Red Cloud leapt up, carrying Yang Zhenshan over a distance of three to four zhang, appearing like a deity descending in front of Wang Bin, almost moving Wang Bin to tears.

Unfortunately, Yang Zhenshan was unaware of Wang Bin’s emotional state. Before Red Cloud even touched the ground, his spear was already thrusting towards Duobato.

Rumbles like thunder resonated, the spear’s gleam flying out like a long rainbow.

Duobato, just narrowly escaping, raised his sword to parry the spear’s tip, and with the force of the spear, reeled back several zhang.

It must be said that Duobato’s combat experience was indeed rich, being able to retreat fully intact under such perilous circumstances.

As Red Cloud landed, Yang Zhenshan gripped his spear tightly, not blinking as he stared at Duobato.

”General, are you alright?”

”Cough cough, fortunately, I’m not dead yet!” Wang Bin sat down abruptly on the ground, coughing lightly with a pale face.

The surrounding battle continued, and the Rescue Camp seemed to be barely holding on.

”Why have only you come here?” Wang Bin asked.

”They’re still behind!” Yang Zhenshan kept watching Duobato.

At this time, Duobato had also steadied himself, his eyes chillingly fixed on Yang Zhenshan.

”It really is you!”

Yang Zhenshan jumped down from Red Cloud, his spear directly pointing at Duobato, ”Enough talk, today we must decide life or death!”

The last time, he was not sure of defeating Duobato, and this time he still wasn’t.

But now, even without certainty, he had to give it his all.

Duobato squinted his eyes, slightly lifted his curved blade and held it in front of him.

The next moment, both of them moved almost simultaneously.

The spear swirled, amidst the roaring thunder blended with the sharp sound of breaking through the air.

Blades gloriously crisscrossed like the unpredictable winds.

Their figures continuously intermingled and collided.

Around them, whether from the Hu Clan or Rescue Camp, soldiers retreated.

Such a battle was definitely beyond the scope of ordinary soldiers; other than blocking blades, they were of little use.

Wang Bin, assisted by soldiers, got up from the ground. He no longer paid attention to the fight between Yang Zhenshan and Duobato, as he could not aid Yang Zhenshan at that moment.

After a quick glance at their fight, he immediately started commanding his own soldiers.

The Rescue Camp was at a disadvantage, completely surrounded.

Now, he needed to organize his soldiers to defend and wait for the garrison’s reinforcements.

Han Cheng and the others arrived quickly; before Yang Zhenshan and Duobato had decided the outcome of their duel, Han Cheng, Song Dashan, and Yang Mingzhen led the garrison charging over.

”Attack!”

The chaotic sound of hooves approached; Song Dashan at the forefront led two hundred Iron Armor Cavalry.

Iron Armor infantry turned into Iron Armor Cavalry, their combat effectiveness even better than before.

Although the two hundred Iron Armor Cavalry were few in number, their charging momentum was terrifying.

They were like a tidal wave, directly scattering the Northern barbarians that had surrounded the Rescue Camp.

”Charge!!”

Song Dashan roared furiously.

As for the cavalry tactics, he had indeed mastered Yang Zhenshan’s true teachings.

What was the cavalry used for?

Yang Zhenshan’s answer had only two words, ”Charge”.

Whenever there was an opportunity, initiate the charge; if no opportunity existed, create the condition to charge.

Forward without retreat, fight to the death!

On the other side, Zhang Chengzhi and Zhang Yuanwu also led the Rescue Camp’s infantry hurriedly over.

After rekindling their motivations, they rushed over intensively, just a bit slower on foot, hence arriving later than the garrison.

”Kill!”

”Kill!”

Zhang Chengzhi and Zhang Yuanwu saw the chaotic battlefield and without any hesitation, led their soldiers into the fray.

At that moment, they were on the outskirts of the flag grounds, not seeing the garrison but that did not hinder their determination to join the battle.

With both sides’ reinforcements arriving, the balance of victory gradually began to tip towards the Rescue Camp.

The savage battle continuously unfolded; both sides were completely entangled together.

The massive fire continued to spread, the soaring smoke obscured the starry sky and the moon, screams and battle cries rose and fell, blood streamed down like fountains, forming rivers on the ground, limbs and bodies littered everywhere.

As time went on, the soldiers of the garrison were almost entirely forced to dismount and fight on foot; they had completely lost the conditions to charge, left only to desperately fight the enemy.

The battle between Yang Zhenshan and Duobato also intensified, both severely matched in strength, and even after two complete hours, no victor had emerged.

”Huff, huff, huff~~~”

Duobato was panting heavily. The battle had been too long, and fatigue set in.

Yang Zhenshan was also breathing hard, but in terms of endurance, he far surpassed Duobato.

Blades and spear gleams collided once again, Yang Zhenshan’s eyes fiery, and his Gold-plated Flying Fish Spear somehow had already bent.

The Gold-plated Flying Fish Spear, forged from fine iron, while not a divine weapon, was still a rare and superior weapon in Dasheng.

The Gold-plated Flying Fish Spear had accompanied him for over five years, unexpectedly facing ruin today.

Yang Zhenshan held the bent spear shaft, the gleaming spear still as sharp as ever.

Of course, Duobato’s curved blade was no better; what was originally a pale blade now appeared jagged like a saw.

Watching Duobato pant heavily, a cold gleam suddenly flashed in Yang Zhenshan’s eyes.

Now is the moment.

Suddenly, he released the spear shaft with his left hand, wielding the long spear with only his right, ferociously swinging it towards Duobato.

Duobato, without the time to think further, raised his blade to block the long spear, with a clang, the spear lightly brushed aside by him, seemingly about to slip from the hand.

Duobato felt slightly astonished in his heart, ’What’s going on? Has he run out of strength?’

The two had exchanged hundreds of moves, and he had long since understood Yang Zhenshan’s strength like the back of his hand. The force of that recent spear thrust was significantly weaker than before.

Had Yang Zhenshan run out of strength?

Of course not!

Just as Duobato parried the long spear, Yang Zhenshan flipped his left hand, and a short sword appeared out of thin air in his hand, and in the next moment, the short sword shot out like an arrow released from a bowstring.

Puchi!

Duobato, completely unprepared, was directly hit by the short sword.

The five-inch-long short sword plunged directly into his chest.

This sudden change made Duobato slightly stunned, but he quickly reacted, looking at Yang Zhenshan with an incredulous expression.

”You play dirty!”

He was both shocked and angry.

The only response was a long thrust.

The spear, carrying Yang Zhenshan’s body, spun around once and thrust forward again, right into Duobato’s chest.

Puchi!

Two severe injuries, particularly the latter spear thrust that directly penetrated Duobato’s body.

Duobato spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his expression turning ashen instantly.

Trickery!

Was this another way of saying I’m without martial virtues?

Yang Zhenshan looked on calmly at Duobato.

What battle ethics are there in a life-and-death struggle on the battlefield?

To prepare for this strike, he had been biding his time, intending to let Duobato familiarize himself with his moves and battle style before striking unexpectedly with a lethal blow.

Had he used this tactic from the start, Duobato would likely have dodged his hidden weapon and then have become wary; catching him off guard would have been almost impossible.

”Sorry!”

Yang Zhenshan said indifferently, then withdrew his curved long spear.

Indeed, disregarding martial virtues isn’t commendable, though he didn’t care at all about martial virtues. But this didn’t prevent him from saying sorry to a dead man.

The spear withdrawn, blood gushed out, splattering onto Yang Zhenshan’s armor. Duobato’s body slowly fell, his eyes lifelessly staring at the smoke-shrouded sky.

”Red Cloud!”

Hrrr~

Red Cloud ran out from behind a nearby tent. Yang Zhenshan mounted the horse and lifted the severed head in his hand.

”The enemy chief is dead!”

”The enemy chief is dead!”

The enemy chief is dead!

The surrounding soldiers, engaged in fierce combat, heard this and instantly their morale soared as they echoed the shouts.

”The enemy chief is dead!”

”The enemy chief is dead!”

Hoarse voices rose, and within moments they spread across the entire battlefield.

The morale of the Rescue Camp and garrison soldiers soared, while that of the Kolcha Clan plummeted.

Defeat often happens in an instant.

The next moment, the Kolcha Clan fell into a state of utter collapse.

Many Northern barbarians began to lose their will to fight, fleeing the battlefield.

”Ahahaha~~ Kill!”

General Wang Bin, upon seeing this, couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Though he was severely injured, he hadn’t completely lost his combat effectiveness.

He might not manage against a skilled opponent, but dealing with ordinary soldiers was still easy for him.

”Brothers, the head counts as the credit, kill for me!”

Wang Bin roared, his voice as harsh and unpleasant as a cracked gong.

But by now, everyone was in a similar state, having fought for so long, physically exhausted, surviving merely on willpower, and amidst the smoke and flames, everyone’s voice was incredibly hoarse.

Though the morale of the soldiers was high, they were too weary to continue the pursuit and could only watch as a large number of enemies fled in all directions.

The sound of the skirmish gradually subsided, and the eastern sky slowly revealed a light white.

The dense smoke continued to billow, but the flames no longer spread.

By the time the daylight brightened, Yang Zhenshan, mounted on Red Cloud and bathed in blood, looked out over the chaotic battlefield.

Corpses, blood, grey smoke, pitch-black ashes pervaded the landscape, as if everything depicted the ferocity of war.

The battle had finally ended!

”Sir!” Han Cheng, covered in black ash, approached Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, ”How are things?”

Han Cheng spoke with a somewhat hoarse voice, ”Over three hundred casualties!”

”...”

Yang Zhenshan’s heart sank, followed by a resigned sigh.

Han Cheng was referring to the casualties of An Yuan City’s garrison, and this did not even count the lightly injured, but severe injuries, those who could no longer return to the battlefield.

This meant the garrison had lost over three hundred men.

Over three hundred!

Previously, they had conquered eight tribes, losing only about thirty men in total.

But this battle, they had lost over three hundred!

Yang Zhenshan felt as if his heart was bleeding!

”How is General Wang?” Dispelling the sorrow in his heart, Yang Zhenshan asked.

”His wounds have been bandaged, and he has already fallen asleep. The military doctor said it’s not a big problem and he’ll be fine after a few days’ rest!” Han Cheng replied.

Yang Zhenshan nodded, relieved to hear this good news.

”Let’s go, let’s go back and see!”

Saying this, Yang Zhenshan spurred his horse toward the south side of the battlefield.
