Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The determination to break through the enemy ranks, prepared to die with no thought of survival! Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The determination to break through the enemy ranks, prepared to die with no thought of survival! “Stop him, stop him!”

The Northern barbarians clearly did not expect Yang Zhenshan to charge out and engage in combat with them outside their formation.

Seeing Yang Zhenshan slaughtering left and right, they instantly became panicked.

But as they tried to stop Yang Zhenshan, he was not about to sit and wait for death.

He charged into the midst of the enemy troops, not indulging in the killing, but instead quickly breaking out of the enemy encirclement.

Although he was a Postnatal Martial Artist and supposedly without rivals here, Postnatal Martial Artists were not invincible.

In the chaos of battle, blades and spears do not distinguish, and Postnatal Martial Artists cannot ensure complete safety amidst the chaos.

Forget about ants being able to kill an elephant; these Northern barbarian cavalry were no ants, and Postnatal Martial Artists were not elephants.

Once Yang Zhenshan was entangled deep within enemy lines, it would be difficult to extricate himself.

Thus, he did not engage deeply but sped out of the enemy lines as swiftly as possible.

His goal wasn’t to slay enemies but to disrupt their formation, thereby alleviating the pressure on the soldiers within the Round Formation.

After breaking out of the enemy lines, Yang Zhenshan quickly grabbed a horse and galloped far away.

This act left the pursuing Northern barbarians completely baffled.

“He’s running away!”

For a moment, a dozen Northern barbarians looked at each other, unsure whether to pursue or not.

Of course, Yang Zhenshan wasn’t really fleeing; he merely wanted to create some distance to prepare for another charge.

Red Cloud was within the Round Formation, and since he could not bring it, he had to borrow an enemy horse temporarily.

Since it wasn’t his own horse, Yang Zhenshan did not care to be gentle, clamping his legs tightly around the horse and fiercely smacking its rear with his spear.

The dark blue horse let out a painful neigh and crazily charged towards the enemy’s battle lines.

The rushing wind sliced past his ears, and with eyes sharp as blades, Yang Zhenshan tucked the Gold-plated Flying Fish Spear under his arm and, alone with his spear, charged resolutely back into the enemy lines.

“On the battlefield, it’s either your death or mine!”

“I don’t want to die, so I must kill you all!”

“Kill you!”

“Kill you!”

Yang Zhenshan murmured to himself softly.

In this way, he released the fear and pressure within his heart, using mantra-like phrases to suppress his impulses to flee.

On the bloody battlefield, it would be false to claim he was not afraid.

Even though Yang Zhenshan had already experienced two battles, he was still not a veteran warrior.

Originally, he was just an ordinary young man from a peaceful era.

Luckily, he had always been mentally preparing himself, constantly thinking about how to act on the battlefield, always reminding himself that on the battlefield, one must fight desperately.

While comforting people like Yang Mingzhi, he was also comforting himself.

Alone with a horse and a long spear, he charged into battle.

This was his belief and his perseverance.

“A resolve to charge into the enemy lines, accepting death without seeking life!”

Suddenly, Yang Zhenshan remembered this phrase, and at this moment, he truly understood what this resolve meant!

It was a determination, a resolve to disregard life and death.

With a surge of ardor in his heart and his blood boiling inside,

Yang Zhenshan let out a furious roar, “A resolve to charge into the enemy lines, accepting death without seeking life!”

His spear thrust forward like a dragon, piercing through the enemy lines with tremendous force.

It was merely an enemy formation of less than two hundred men. Within moments of catching his breath, Yang Zhenshan had charged back outside the Round Formation.

Two charges, back and forth, had already thrown the enemy lines into disarray.

These Northern barbarians had underestimated their enemy, despite attacking a troop of nearly a thousand. They had not considered those common soldiers worthy of their regard.

At this moment, Yang Zhenshan was drenched in blood, resembling a ghoul that had crawled out of hell.

His warhorse beneath him was still going mad, and Yang Zhenshan directly struck its head with the butt of his spear, knocking it unconscious.

“Red Cloud!”

” Neigh~~”

A neighing sound rang out, as Red Cloud leapt forward and steadily landed behind Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan rode on Red Cloud’s back, sweeping his gaze over the surroundings.

At this moment, the battle was at its most fierce, with many of the Northern barbarian cavalry still outside the Round Formation, but even more had already charged into the formation.

Zhao Desheng was leading his soldiers, staunchly defending the southern part of the Round Formation. Yang Mingzhi was fighting mixed in amidst the soldiers against the Northern barbarian cavalry, while Yang Mingwu was still dueling with a powerful man from the Hu Clan. The two were evenly matched, and no victor had emerged yet.

Several bolder civilians also joined the fight, unarmed, they picked up stones from the riverbed to use as weapons, throwing them chaotically at the enemy.

The situation was still manageable, and Yang Zhenshan felt relieved.

“Ming Wu, move aside!”

Capture the leader to defeat the foe, strike the snake at its vital spot.

The stalwart man fighting Yang Mingwu was the enemy’s commander. Yang Zhenshan felt it would be better to take him down first.

Regardless of whether Yang Mingwu heard his shout, Yang Zhenshan clamped his legs on the horse’s belly. Red Cloud, as if knowing his intention, charged towards where Yang Mingwu was.

This was the understanding that Yang Zhenshan and Red Cloud had developed. Red Cloud, having regularly consumed Spiritual Spring Water, not only had a physicality surpassing other warhorses but also possessed an intelligence unmatched by ordinary beasts.

It could be said that now, Red Cloud was a paragon amongst horses, a scholar amongst horses, a dragon and phoenix amongst horses!

As Red Cloud’s hooves thundered forward, Yang Zhenshan raised his long spear, aiming it straight at the stalwart man.

Yang Mingwu, of course, heard Yang Zhenshan’s shout. After forcing the stalwart man back with a spear, he dodged behind a vehicle frame.

The stalwart man did not understand what was happening; he still wanted to continue fighting Yang Mingwu.

In what seemed like a slow instance, yet happened swiftly, the spear’s gleam shot out like lightning, piercing through.

The stalwart man hadn’t even had the chance to react before his head was cleaved off by Yang Zhenshan.

A bloody spectacle, terrifyingly extreme.

Bright red blood flowed down from the golden spearshaft, sliding across the snow-white spearhead before dripping down.

The golden flying fish patterns at this moment appeared otherworldly and bloody.

“Form ranks!”

Yang Zhenshan waved his spear, shouting loudly.

Upon hearing this command, the soldiers, as if instinctively, gathered around their flag officer.

Yang Chengze, Yang Chengxu, and others, eyes bloodshot, spear in hand, always stood at the forefront.

As Yang Zhenshan’s core unit, they had received a lot of special care.

In terms of clothing, food, shelter, and transport, Yang Zhenshan never shortchanged them.

And regarding the Spiritual Spring Water, besides Yang Mingzhi and Yang Minghao, they were among those who drank it most.

Now, out of Yang Chengze’s ten men, six had become Martial Artists. The remaining four, due to being younger with a weaker foundation, had yet to become Martial Artists.

However, it was foreseeable that before long, all ten would become Martial Artists.

At this moment, they were Yang Zhenshan’s most loyal supporters.

“Charge!”

Yang Zhenshan once again spearheaded the attack.

And the soldiers who had been defending inside the Round Formation, under the leadership of Yang Chengze and others, switched from defense to offense.

“Kill!”

“Break through!”

“Kill!”

The leading Sword and Shield Soldiers jumped onto a cart laden with grain first, followed closely by the Long Spear Soldiers who stabbed at any enemy they saw, and the archers at the back, having exhausted their arrows, now held long knives, vigilantly watching their surroundings to fill any gaps.

In just a breath, they charged out of the Round Formation like a pack of ferocious wolves, plunging into the enemy ranks.
