Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1698: The Escape Plan: Absolute Fate Control

Wang Wei’s mind was in a strange tripartite state: one part was calm, composed, and determined, the second was a mindless machine with a purpose, and the third was full of madness and corruption. ’So, that’s what this Fate Seed Status does. It’s fine if I accept my fate, but if I don’t, Grand Dao doesn’t mind turning me into a mindless puppet to do its bidding,’ Wang Wei sneered. There are fates worse than death, and becoming a puppet for the River of Fate or Grand Dao is one of those.

The overwhelming anger Wang Wei felt regarding this truth almost broke his state of mind, so he had to rein in his emotions and calm down. His current situation was far more dangerous than it appeared. Two-thirds of his [Existence] was ruined, meaning if he did not do something, his cultivation path would be ruined from now on.

Wang Wei focused his mind and tried to use the fact that these two forces were distracted by fighting over his body to expel them from his body. ’As expected, it’s useless.’ Of the three powers competing, he was the weakest. Any attempts to intervene in such a confrontation would only make things worse. ’In that case, I can only wait for an opportunity. Hopefully, my prediction will come true.’

Wang Wei focused his mind and spirit to defend and protect himself. Right now, he can only wait for the right opportunity while these two powers ravage the very essence of his existence. The sages said that patience was a virtue, and Wang Wei decided to embody that fundamental truth.

Terminus Heaven:

Fate Cardinal was manipulating the River of Destiny to search for something when he suddenly sensed something. His gaze pierced through the veils of endless dimensions and truths to glance at Wang Wei’s current situation.

’An early harvest?’ he thought. ’Are you so eager to get rid of me?’ A great anger flew from his body, destroying countless strings and killing millions of cultivators — from mortals to Paragons. His first instinct was to stop this process and help Wang Wei, but he stopped himself. Instead, the cardinal checked on the upper stream of the River of Time to check what the consequences of Wang Wei’s failure would be on this timeline and future events.

’His death will benefit Grand Dao so much?’ Fate Cardinal thought with an ugly expression. Although he couldn’t see many things, the general directions of the future were enough to alarm him. If he dares to mess up Grand Dao’s plans, he would immediately be labeled a traitor and executed. `

’Well, if he’s not complete, there may be room for maneuver,’ Fate Cardinal analyzed. The incomplete Wang Wei would need someone to raise and guide him during the transition process, and he can take this opportunity to make up for his mistake and plan for the future.

’That seems to be the best move to make,’ Fate Cardinal nodded to himself before raising his hands to act. He suddenly stopped. ’That bastard is very protective of his younger self. He won’t come after me, will he?’ He immediately hesitated before remembering the latter was already their enemy and should now be distracted by a myriad of other threats. Regardless, Fate Cardinal took extra precautions before secretly interfering.

’Damn it, why has the consciousness of the River of Fate suddenly become so potent and aggressive?’ Wang Wei cursed. ’Did something happen? An intervention? Fuck, it’s probably that bastard.’ The domino effect of that aggression was an even more potent counterattack by Dark Fate. And as the weakest party, Wang Wei’s true self immediately suffered. His mind became slow and muddled, followed by an intense desire for madness and destruction, creating a strange dichotomy.

”All form is emptiness, and emptiness is form. All...’ Wang Wei immediately started to recite scriptures. Years ago, after a meeting with Xun Junyao, he had the idea of finding a way to have the entire world slowly guide probability to always benefit him, and one of his approaches was through spiritual enlightenment. Wang Wei eventually tried to rely on fate rather than spiritual practice.

This idea never came to fruition because he eventually realized this was not something a non-Saint could achieve. However, the process allowed him a deeper understanding of many religions — primarily Buddhism and Taoism. So, he started using this knowledge to protect his True Self.

For a brief moment, Wang Wei felt a sense of relief before he realized something: one of his memories was gone. He immediately checked. It was just a random, mundane memory of drinking tea and doing sect chores, but he took this seriously. Now, it was just a random memory, but soon, it will be his affection, his dreams, and even his achievements.

’Condense,’ Wang Wei yelled in his mind, utilizing the power of his Saint Dao Heart to form the highest protection possible around his [True Self]. The creation of the Saint Art drew on all of Wang Wei’s current knowledge; while that prevented him from creating a second Saint Art, it was the best catalyst for pushing his control of all his abilities to the limit.

A Saint Heart symbolizes a mind and will above the rules of the Chaos Universe: a mind that can defy the odds and pursue the Dao no matter the obstacles. Its power — by any metrics — was the highest and purest power Wang Wei could manifest.

’That should stabilize...’

He hadn’t finished his thoughts when cracks started appearing in his blueprint. Only Saints can survive their [Existence Blueprint] collapsing, so such news was terrible for Wang Wei. However, he smiled instead after seeing this. Unfortunately, his smile did not last long. Fate’s power rushed into that crack spot and fixed it.

”Can’t allow your toy to break?’ Wang Wei sneered. He did not hesitate to allow even more power to bypass the [Time Skipping Orb], further empowering Dark Fate to fight against the River of Fate. The result? Even more destruction to his [Existence]. If anyone else saw Wang Wei use such a reckless act, they would think he was suicidal. However, given his current situation, only such a grave risk can give him any hope of surviving this ordeal.

Wang Wei calmed his mind to observe the chaos. The current balance was the perfect state for him, but he knew it was only a matter of time before his side would be overwhelmed. So, instead of waiting for that to happen, he started thinking about solutions.

’I was planning to do it during the expedition, but now is as good as any,’ Wang Wei thought. After his talk with his nephew, Li Xingwei, Wang Wei was inspired by what to do for his Paragon Battle Taboo Realm. Li Xingwei’s [Absolute Control] was perfect for him.

For the Emperor and Empyrean Battle Taboo Realm, Wang Wei used [Perfection] and [Nothingness]. While these two concepts were great, they were also difficult to control — especially the latter — and they were not perfectly suited for him. So, for the third one, Wang Wei wanted something intrinsically linked to his cultivation path and simultaneously granted him the ability to perfect control of these different characteristics.

After talking with Li Xingwei, Wang Wei thought of creating the [Absolute Fate Control] characteristic. He would use Fate’s ability to control things not only to lord over the previous two characteristics, but also to control every other aspect of his existence: soul, flesh, power, law, destiny, etc.

Wang Wei no longer hesitated. Under normal circumstances, he would need to use his technique and absorb some rare materials to finally add that characteristic to his [Existence]. However, his current predicament enabled him to gain direct access to and control over the fundamental blueprint of his life. The only issue was the lengthy process. Even by passing the resource requirement, there was no way for Wang Wei to condense the characteristic in such a short time.

’Time Skipping Orb — activate.’ Wang Wei immediately used the power of this transcendent artifact to accelerate the speed of his action. After the enemy Saint Will was removed by the Grand Unified Will, this artifact’s power and effect dramatically improved. With its full effect, Wang Wei watched as lines, dots, runes, and scribbles rapidly condensed in his blueprint.

A subtle change was slowly manifesting in the True Self area of the Blueprint. The River of Time Will and Dark Fate seemed to sense something, and for a brief moment, these two power stopped their confrontation.

’Not good,’ Wang Wei thought as he immediately built the highest defense possible, at any cost. His quick reaction proved to be the correct approach. These two powers attacked him at the same time, pushing him to the verge of extinction. ’I need to distract at least one of them.’ Wang Wei’s mind worked faster than before, making him think of his next move. He only needed them to believe another power wanted to intervene in this confrontation. The question was which one? After a swift analysis, Wang Wei thought of someone.
