Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1676: Saint Heart

’The Samsara Path is indeed cut off,’ Wang Wei thought. ’Additionally, each path only allows thirteen attempts...The number 13.’ Wang Wei’s thoughts trailed off. He had an idea of what this trial’s true purpose was, but he still hadn’t discovered the fortunate encounter awaiting him. So, he continued observing these paths. Anyway, he needed to know which one was still open for his attempt.

The Flame Monarch did not just wish to deal with the Inferno; he wanted to absorb and use its power for himself. So, he used his absolute strength to conquer the world and forced all Dao Ancestors to link their Inner World to his. His idea was that with all these people working together, he could bear the power of the inferno. He failed, and it was not because the captured cultivators revolted against him; it was because his soul could not control the flame, and he was incinerated.

The Heaven Usurping Daoist was an ambitious genius. He created a method to swallow Heavenly Dao and acquire immense power. His plan was then to use said power to remove the Inferno. Unfortunately, he underestimated the power of Heavenly Dao. When all the information and knowledge entered his mind, his soul collapsed, followed by his body and Inner World.

The Extreme Yang Monarch tried the approach of extreme yang, revering to yin. She believed that by cultivating an extreme flame, she could convert it into an ice flame. Then, she would apply the ice flame to the inferno and extinguish it. Unfortunately, the laws of this world have been manipulated. With the little presence of anything water or yin-related, it’s almost impossible to walk the path of extreme yin or extreme yang.

The Void Immortal tried to exile the inferno. Despite the limitations of the rules, he successfully mastered Space Dao. His idea was to expel the flame into Primordial Chaos or the Source Qi Space. His attempt was quite successful, but his enemy was time. The Great Eruption arrived before he could finish, but the Void Immortal was famous because he fought against the eruption for countless yuan epochs. He delayed the end of the world for eons, but eventually, he also succumbed to a terrible fate.

The Incense Lord was a unique character. He discovered the power of incense and tried to use it to save the world. He cultivated a God of Ice, Yin, Flame, and Salvation for the purpose of extinguishing the inferno. His failure was due to his extreme caution. Not wanting to test out the method on himself and be the one to become a God, he created an alternate soul that he controlled. Then, once it was completed, the Incense Lord would fuse with it. Unfortunately, the God of Ice had secretly gained sentience, and the lord wasted too much time dealing with it during the fusion process, eventually dying from the eruption.

The Flame Spirit Ancestor was called the darling of flame. Her plan was simple: she built a flame elemental body capable of slowly absorbing the inferno. In the end, she succeeded. Not only did she save the world, but she also acquired a terrifying flame.

’Hmm? Someone passed?’ Wang Wei thought. He continued watching to see what happened next. The trial’s tower released a portal, and an elderly man dressed in casual black with a beard more than five feet appeared. He spoke with the Flame Spirit Ancestor, explained the society, and offered her a position. However, that had the opposite effect.

The Flame Spirit Ancestor became enraged after knowing her world was nothing but a trial — especially after the elderly man revealed the trial would continue. She released all her strength and attacked. Unfortunately, the scholar just waved her hand, and she disintegrated into nothingness.

’Why do I have a feeling that the scholars at the Impermanence Society are a bunch of people with low emotional intelligence?’ It’s one thing to recruit people like Wang Wei, who will not care about the fate of this world. However, the natives are heavily invested in the fate of their world. He shook his head before continuing the process; he was now interested in the people who succeeded.

A quick divination revealed the information he needed: beside the Flame Spirit Ancestor, four other individuals succeeded. Three were natives and one was an outsider. One of the natives happily joined, and Wang Wei could not tell whether this man was just mad and selfish as he seemed, or if it was a ploy to take down his enemy from within. The remaining two individuals were annihilated by society after attacking, and the last foreigner accepted their invitation.

Wang Wei watched the struggle of these heroes. Despite their unparalleled talents, they did not leave and abandon their homes. Instead, they fought desperately to save it; under the immense pressure of death, their brilliance shone brighter than ever. And it was not just them. Even the [Neutralizers] are people doing their best to save themselves and their loved ones. While tragic, there was a hidden beauty in their struggle — the never-wavering hope and unbreakable will.

’I was right. This world is an experiment to study the mindset of geniuses facing imminent threats. And if I’m guessing correctly, the final goal of the experiment is to create a method or technique that artificially creates that state of pressure to improve brain activity and creativity.’

Wang Wei sighed. Death can bring out the potential of even mortals. Stories of mothers lifting cars to save their children were common back on Earth. And when cultivators are pushed to the brink of death, they can tap into unknown potential. But these scholars wanted a similar state or effect to improve their productivity.

He had to give his respect to these scholars. With such a state, it’s probably easier to come up with ideas and possible methods of achieving transcendence, and among a variety of other things. The only downside is the burden placed on the soul, but based on how refined this technique is, the side effects might be minimal.

Wang Wei concentrated by removing these distracting thoughts. As he witnessed these geniuses’ endless struggle, he realized the opportunity that awaited him. It’s been a while since he tempered his Dao Heart, and the experience of this trial has given him an idea. He found an isolated mountain, dug a cave, and formed an array before entering seclusion. He immediately activated his Samsara Illusion Technique.

In the illusion world that Wang Wei created for himself, he had obviously lost the memory that this was an illusion. More importantly, the world was designed based on this world and the last Pagoda Trial from his early days. An entity known as the Grand Heaven controlled the world, and the only way for Wang Wei to escape this cage was to try different methods.

The point of the illusion world was that there was no escape, and Wang Wei should never stop trying despite this realization. So, while he constantly tried different approaches, he died, was reborn(still remembering the previous attempt), and tried again. He died a hundred times, a thousand times, a million times, and so on. But he never stopped trying.

There is a Western saying that madness is repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome. Well, Wang Wei did not mind being labelled as crazy. His will was eternal and unwavering, meaning that as long as he was breathing, he would not stop his pursuit of freedom. One day, he will break through the shackles of Grand Heaven and leave this infinite cage.

With each attempt, Wang Wei’s pursuit of the Dao was tempered. His Dao Heart, willpower, and spiritual achievement drastically improved. More importantly, a strange white light was slowly condensing above his head, but he hadn’t noticed yet.

Eternal Ascension World, Heavenly Court:

Maitreya was focusing on a cauldron with a world and a sealed individual inside. She was slow and methodical in stripping the person of their powers. ”Hmm?” she muttered as she sensed something. Her eyes penetrated all the arrays and restrictions to gaze at Wang Wei.

’Why is there suddenly a sign of impending calamity on him? And it’s not small.’ She was confused for a moment before deducing the truth. The process was not as instant as she expected, indicating that the person involved has a sufficiently high anti-divination capability.

’Another Saint?’ Maitreya grew serious as she immediately drew on more power. Then, her vision penetrated Primordial Chaos to reach the Pure Inferno World, landing on Wang Wei’s clone. She gazed at the white light above his head.

’A Saint Dao Heart? So, it was true,’ she commented. She had heard that the limit that a Paragon can naturally increase their chances of becoming a Saint is 20%, but all three transcendent foundations can only reach 10%. So, where did the remaining 20% come from? The answer was a Saint Dao Heart — a Dao Heart so pure and unwavering that it transcends the laws and limits of the Chaos Universe.
