Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1697: The Escape Plan: The First Step

’I should prepare for the upcoming chaos,’ Ye Guang sighed deeply. The Eternal Ascension World is plagued with too many internal troubles. The Saint Mother Buddha has forcefully suppressed all of them, but with her departure, everything will explode.

The demons and Innate Demon Gods have been trying to eradicate each other for more than an era. The confrontation between Taoism and Buddhism is considered an eternal struggle. With the signs that the Literary Way wishes to regain its status as one of the [Three School Giants], the struggle will be even more intensive. The Great Qin Dynasty has suffered humiliation at the hands of Buddhism and the Origin Rune Continent.

The Grand Sect Alliance is on the verge of collapse after the recent blow. The Limitless Exchange Hall has cozied up to the Divine Faith Haven, but this has led to instability within their ranks. The Sword League Path is trying to spread and condense the destiny of the Ultimate Sword Path, but there are signs that a rebellion against the Sword and Saber Dao has already started by other Weapon Dao.

The Skill Dao Association has once again been overshadowed by the Origin Rune Continent during the war, making people further question their claim that they stand at the pinnacle of Profession Dao. The Myriad Clan Union appeared harmonious on the surface, but everyone knows a chasm has been growing dramatically between the three primary families. The Primal Lineages are like wolves waiting for an opportunity to swallow the destiny of one of the Overlords.

Lastly, there is the Dao Opening Sect. After the previous major victory against its enemy — the Grand Sect Alliance — everything is looking upward for them. But that is the problem. Their recent string of successes has made everybody jealous. Nobody wants to see them thrive while everybody else suffers.

’The Wang Clan Unification cannot be allowed,’ Ye Guang pondered with a ruthless light flashing in his eyes. Everybody knows that whichever of these two clans is the first to cultivate a Saint will have no choice but to fuse with the other. As such, it seems that it’s inevitable for the unification to occur. Luckily, there is still a way to stop it: eradicate one of the Wang Clans before a Saint is born.

Ye Guang has little involvement or influence with the other Wang Clan, but there is still a chance with the one in his union. As long as he can convince the Xiao Clan to work with him, there is still a chance. ’Normally, that old bastard would never work with me because I’m a Celestial Fox, but the secrets of Wang Guo’s new bloodline are too tempting,’ Ye Guang sneered. The Myriad Clan Union claimed it’s a faction for all clans and races with a unique bloodline, but anyone with discerning eyes can see that humans run it while everybody else is treated as second-class citizens.

Ye Guang exhaled to calm down his excitement. There are still close to 2000 yuan epochs before the Saint leaves this timeline. Based on what she does before her departure and who she picks to accompany her, the subsequent chaos can be minimized. Yes, minimized — not stopped. Ye Guang knew that Saint should have realized that the internal issues were major problems waiting to explode, and there is no better sign for this than this war.

While it looks as if the Eternal Ascension World is holding up quite well against the Divine War Post, that was only on the surface. The sad truth is they have only held out for so long because Wang Wei, Wu Hong, and Qiyuan have developed numerous new trump cards – such as the Invisible Plague— to put up a fight. If they had to rely on their tactics and foundation from the Ultimate Taboo, they would have collapsed long ago.

Furthermore, they are currently facing only three commanders of the Infinite Divine Court. Who knows how many commanders, how many troops, how many war weapons, how many trump cards, the Divine Timeline has? The world’s internal problems have not been weaponized yet because the Divine Court lacks the necessary information due to the [History Lock]. But that will not last long. So, whether Maitreya wants it or not, those issues must be addressed before everybody can truly unite to address the current situation.

Ye Guang glanced at the River of Fate. ’I hope he dies.’ The Dao Opening Sect already has the Sword Empress, Qiyuan, Battle Maniac, and Ancient Desolate — they don’t need another Fate Dominator. As such, Ye Guang and countless others shared the same thought: Wang Wei shouldn’t make it out.

River of Fate:

Wang Wei ignored what might have happened outside and stripped away every distraction and negative emotion from his mind. His [Existence Blueprint] unfolded before his eyes, and he focused on the new entries: the corruption. Although it was small and without much power, he knew it was only a matter of time before such a small dot would spread to every corner of this scroll.

’Let’s see how much [Fate] loves me,’ Wang Wei sneered. He controlled the transcendent artifact that he named the [Time Skipping Orb] to condense into millions of tiny acupoint needles that he injected into his soul. His target: the Fate Seed Status. One thing that has puzzled Wang Wei for many years is the effect of this status. Although he has plenty of conjectures, theories, and deductions, he has never been able to verify them. And considering this thing is a ticking time bomb, and the time he can ascertain its effect might be the day of his death, he never dares to be so reckless. However, the current situation forced him.

The marking of the Fate Seed trembled slightly, and Wang Wei felt a terrifying power, dormant deep within his body, slowly awakening. The power was mighty, ancient, and oddly familiar. He tried to remain calm as he continued the activation, but midway through, everything suddenly stopped. No matter what he did, the awakened would not continue.

’The fruit hasn’t ripened yet, so it’s not time to act?’ Wang Wei sneered. He did not hesitate to do something outrageous: he reduced the protection of the [Time Skipping Orb] and allowed more corruption from the Dark Fate Seal. Such an act was tantamount to suicide. The [Existence Blueprint] is not just a blueprint of Wang Wei’s flesh and soul, but a record of everything he has experienced, accomplished, and his effect on the world. The slightest problem is the same as death.

However, his reckless act proved immediately effective. As if insulted that something else had invaded its territory, the Fate Seed Status marks continued their activation. An omnipotent will descended into Wang Wei’s body to resist the invader.

’The consciousness of the River of Fate,’ Wang Wei thought. He had long speculated that all the Grand Constructs may have an underlying consciousness that exists for their operation. That consciousness was probably created from the sons and daughters that Grand Dao created for his battle against [Perfection].

’The Cardinals are probably workers tasked with keeping track of that consciousness operation and ensuring there are no issues. In other words, they are just powerful stewards.’ Wang Wei had to marvel at Grand Dao’s method of balance. These consciousnesses exist to allocate certain operations of the Chaos Universes. Meanwhile, the stewards can fix any issues without having any direct power or control.

’They are truly pitiful,’ Wang Wei thought. However, this was not the time to be contemplating or indulging in schadenfreude. After consciousness was activated, Wang Wei felt his sense of self rapidly diminish: it began with his emotions. At an alarming rate, he grew cold and indifferent, caring about nothing else. Then, it was his memories: they rapidly faded until all of them meant nothing to him. The profound care for his family? He did not care. The deep bond with Li Jun? To him, he was just a pawn for his goals. The unfathomable love he has for Wu Hong? No, she was the only woman worthy to be with him and the one who could give him the most help. The camaraderie, friendship, and loyalty of the sect and the ancestors? These people were nothing but stepping stones to his goals.

In this state, Wang Wei could tell it was only a matter of time before he became an unfeeling machine, caring only about his goals and ambitions. So, he used the last of the reasons he had to create a wall around the parts of his [Existence] that symbolized his [True Self]. Wang Wei learned from his wife that using Saint Power would cause lasting damage to his foundation, so when creating his Saint Art, he spent considerable time finding a way to protect himself. As a result, he has learned a great deal about manipulating his [Existence], especially regarding protections.

As his emotions and memories slowly recovered, Wang Wei sighed with relief. ’The first step is successful.’
