Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 1740: Chapter 1740: Heaven’s Blessing

Xue Han, feeling down, returned to her mother’s house to talk things over and stood up after sitting for a while, “Mother, I’m going back to pack some luggage and head to the Crown Prince’s residence tomorrow.”

“Okay, go ahead. Be meticulous, ensure the midwife’s supplies are carefully checked, and make sure everyone entering the birthing room is thoroughly vetted.”

The pressure in Xue Han’s heart was immense, “Yes, I will definitely perform a careful inspection.”

Zhulan murmured a Buddhist chant after her daughter left, hoping the Crown Princess Consort would go through childbirth smoothly; it was truly an anxious task.

It wasn’t easy to hide Prince Qin and his wife moving into the Crown Prince’s residence, and even the Crown Prince himself didn’t go to the palace to handle affairs, instead choosing to stay at his residence.

The first day at the Crown Prince’s residence was uneventful, leaving Xue Han in a state of anxious tension, half-dreaming at night. Two more days passed before the Crown Princess Consort went into labor.

It happened in the middle of the night, yet the Crown Princess Consort did not hurry into the birthing room. Finally, Xue Han carried several boxes over and opened them for the first time since they were brought into the Crown Prince’s residence. They contained items for childbirth, and she promptly changed all the previous arrangements in the birthing room.

The Crown Prince was aware of this, and only after the changes were completed was the Crown Princess Consort sent into the birthing room. Every maid and servant allowed inside underwent thorough inspection multiple times, even fearing they might have hidden drugs in their mouths.

Xue Han recalled the stories her mother had told, considering everything she could remember, combined with the harmful tactics she had heard about, to ensure complete preparedness.

Indeed, some people were discovered and inspected thoroughly. The Crown Prince, with a stern face, instructed that they be watched closely.

Xue Han did not wait outside but entered the birthing room to keep watch, her eyes keenly fixed on the Crown Princess Consort, being even more cautious than the consort’s own mother.

The Crown Prince felt a bit awkward towards his aunt, “Thank you for your trouble.”

Rongchuan replied, “It’s my duty. Your legitimate heirs are crucial to the kingdom.”

Listening to the cries of childbirth, the Crown Prince felt anxious, hoping for everything to go smoothly.

Rongchuan asked, “Has the message been sent to the palace?”

“It has been sent.”

“Alright, we just sit and wait.”

Already the father of three children, he experienced waiting for a child to be born; it wouldn’t happen in a short while.

The Crown Prince was nervous since it was his first time becoming a father, and this child’s arrival wasn’t easy, already being the target of schemes before birth, his eyes fixed intently on the birthing room.

In the blink of an eye dawn broke, and the news of the Crown Princess Consort entering labor spread quickly, with everyone eagerly awaiting news from the Crown Prince’s residence.

The morning court session concluded swiftly, Zhou Shuren wasn’t surprised that the Emperor headed to the Crown Prince’s residence, knowing only about the Crown Princess Consort going into labor; news inside the residence remained unclear.

Zhou Shuren also awaited news; if it was a boy, he would be his apprentice. If a girl, the Crown Princess Consort would have to continue having children, leading to more future scheming.

With time ticking away, the Crown Princess Consort had a difficult labor after a premature birth scare with her first child.

Inside the birthing room, Xue Han kept chanting Buddhist prayers, her eyes fixed on the Crown Princess Consort’s complexion, the tension causing her head to ache and her eyes to feel sore.

Suddenly, the Crown Princess Consort let out a scream, prompting Xue Han to stand abruptly, startling the midwife. Xue Han rushed over and, fearing the midwife might do something wrong, ensured someone watched over her side, only relaxing once she confirmed it wasn’t the midwife’s mistake.

The Crown Princess Consort was drenched in sweat from the pain, with the midwife urging, “It’s coming soon, Your Highness, gather your strength.”

As time continued, the midwife urged repeatedly to push, finally delivering the child.

Outside, the sound of the child’s cries could be heard; it was already noon by then.

Shortly afterward, the child was brought outside, without needing to ask, the joyful expression on the servant’s face said it all: the Crown Prince had a legitimate eldest son.

The Emperor personally cradled the child, laughing heartily, “Good, good.”

This indicated what? It indicated prosperous national fortune and divine protection for the royal family.

The Crown Prince was excited as well; it wasn’t that he disliked daughters, but the first child as a legitimate eldest son meant he had a successor, thereby stabilizing his position even more.

Rongchuan approached, “The child is healthy and big.”

The servant spoke, “Six pounds and six ounces.”

Indeed, it wasn’t small; the Crown Princess Consort endured much to give birth.

The Emperor chuckled, “Good, rewards for everyone.”

The Crown Prince eagerly looked at his son, longing for a chance to hold him, yet his father had no intention of allowing it, so he could only look enviously.

Rongchuan noticed his wife hadn’t emerged, knowing she was still vigilant in the birthing room, guarding against postpartum hemorrhage.

Once Xue Han cleaned the birthing room, and the Imperial Physician confirmed the Crown Princess Consort was fine, she finally exited, weary but relieved, not seeking credit but just hoping for no accidents, thankful for her caution.

Rongchuan supported his wife, “Shall I carry you back?”

Xue Han blushed, knowing if they were at their Prince’s residence, she would indulge herself, but here wasn’t home, “No need, I can walk by myself.”

Whispering quietly, the Emperor noticed, looking approvingly at the couple. The Zhou family lady indeed handled things well, “These past days, it’s because of you two, I’ve redecorated a Hot Spring Manor; don’t disdain it.”

The couple didn’t disdain it; no matter how wealthy they were, royal manors were always treasured, promptly expressing their gratitude.

The Crown Prince silently watched his father, knowing he was generous with Silver, so he couldn’t be stingy either, holding his son and promising to retrieve it once he grows up.

Then the couple received thanks from the Crown Prince along with several tribute horses and other gifts, said to be for Lin Xi and the others.

Few families smashed their ceramics, overjoyed when the Crown Princess Consort successfully birthed a legitimate eldest son. As for those caught in the Crown Prince’s residence, Xue Han and her husband refrained from asking or wanting to be involved.

At the Ministry of Revenue, Zhou Shuren received the news from the eunuch, stroking his beard, pondering what gift to give his future apprentice.

Qiu Yan restrained himself but couldn’t hold back, “Why did the Emperor specifically send news to Mr. Hou?”

Zhou Shuren stroked his beard, “Perhaps because of some kinship?”

Qiu Yan didn’t believe it, feeling something was amiss, “The Crown Prince having a legitimate eldest son is a joyous event.”

He didn’t dare say it, but it seemed the royal family always had a legitimate eldest son first!

Zhou Shuren wondered if the Retired Emperor was watching over them, becoming slightly superstitious, musing about the flourishing national fortune!

Zhou Shuren was quite excited, barely containing himself about how to educate the Crown Prince’s eldest son!

At the Crown Prince’s residence, the Crown Prince just heard his father mention finding a mentor for his son, suppressing his excitement, “Really?”

“Would I lie to you? Your grandfather sought this mentor for the child.”

The Crown Prince again wanted to hold his son, yet the son was already resting, casting his eyes sorrowfully at his father. His father kept it tightly hidden; if he hadn’t had a son, his father wouldn’t have told him, “When will the apprenticeship be?”

He was eager to establish the mentor-teacher bond, knowing more about Mr. Hou’s abilities the more he interacted with him. Although he wasn’t his mentor, he lacked regret now that he would be his son’s mentor.

The Emperor glanced sideways, “No rush, wait until the child is four years old.”

The Crown Prince, “…Father might as well not have told me in advance.”

The Emperor’s eyes conveyed laughter; he did it intentionally, “You only need to know yourself.”

The Crown Prince, “…”

His father did it on purpose!

The celebration for the Crown Prince’s elder son’s third-day ceremony was attended by Zhou Shuren, with Zhulan also personally visiting, taking a brief look at the child before he was taken back, fearing he might catch cold.

Zhou Shuren was conversing when the Crown Prince approached, blurting out, “Marquis Zhou, it will be hard on you in the future.”

The others didn’t understand, but Zhou Shuren did; the Crown Prince knew, raising his teacup, “It is my honor.”

The two exchanged cryptic words without stepping aside, leaving those overhearing puzzled with no information at all!
