Transmigration: The Evil Mother-In-Law Is Actually Innocent!

Chapter 1720: Chapter 1720 Talent

Zhulan met Shao Ting in the main courtyard. Today Zhou Shuren finished his rest, and she should also be working. The person she wanted to see most was Shao Ting, as this young girl had brought her many surprises.

Before Shao Ting arrived, Zhulan first saw Ming Hui, putting down the fruit tea in her hand, “There’s something off about you!”

Ming Hui sat down with a grin, “Grandma, what’s wrong with me? I’m clearly well-behaved.”

“Ha!”

Does she look blind? This kid’s actions are getting more obvious each time!

Ming Hui quickly stood up to massage his grandmother’s shoulders, “Grandma, how’s the pressure?”

“Hmm, not bad, you rascal, you’ve got some skills.”

Ming Hui, “I practiced on my dad.”

Zhulan burst into laughter, “You rascal.”

This kid is so lively, his parents indulged him. Among the sons of the main house, only Ming Hui was the most daring. Ming Hui practiced on his father, and his father couldn’t be happier!

Ming Hui glanced at the doorway, through the curtain hanging there, he could only see a few little maids standing by the door.

Zhulan had a mirror at an angle and hummed to herself, “Hmm.”

“Grandma, what’s up?”

Zhulan, “I wanted to see Shao Ting, but it seems she can’t make it today.”

Ming Hui paused, “Why do you want to see her?”

Zhulan replied cheerfully, “The girl got promoted and is doing well teaching at the academy.”

“Is that so?”

“I thought you already knew.”

Ming Hui paused his breathing, “Grandma, I’ve been at home, how would I know.”

Zhulan said, “Oh, I thought you knew and wanted to ask more. The female officer said Shao Ting is very skilled at teaching.”

Shao Ting is good at enhancing the thoughts of young women. She likes to chat with female students during her free time, sharing her own thoughts. The female officer noticed that some female students have noticeably changed.

How do I put it, although the female students are enrolled, they are also instructed by their families at home to learn skills well and earn money. They must save up for dowry for their brothers. If there are students in the family, they must pay tuition for their brothers. Frankly speaking, many parents invest merely hoping for greater returns.

She sometimes gives ideological lessons to the female students, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work well. These girls get brainwashed by family daily, her words get overshadowed. Additionally, she is the principal and also Mrs. Hou, the class gap makes the kids fear her.

Shao Ting is different, there’s no gap between her and them. They are all girls from the village. Shao Ting has had independent thoughts since childhood, she’s very talented. The few newly recruited female students are proof of that.

At this moment, Qing Xue entered, “Miss Shao is here.”

“Let her in.”

Ming Hui withdrew his hand under his grandmother’s gaze, sitting back with a normal expression.

Outside the door, Shao Ting was very nervous. She had never been to a place where aristocrats live before. Such places, commoners dared not venture, fearing to offend the nobility and lose their lives. Yesterday, when she heard the female officer say the principal wanted to see her, she thought it would be at the academy, but she didn’t expect it to be at the Marquis Zhou Residence.

Marquis Zhou Residence, she once didn’t know about it, only aware it was a high and mighty existence, far removed from her and her brother.

Now it’s different, she’s been promoted for a month and earns a tael of silver. Her brother was shocked. She went to the academy secretly without telling her brother. Earning a tael of silver a month, plus brother’s occasional letter-writing earnings, he could take the exam to become a Scholar next year.

Shao Ting thought of many things, head lowered, looking at the ground. This was Marquis Zhou Residence, as she walked to the main courtyard, she only felt the place was huge, her palms were sweaty.

Qing Xue drew the curtain open, “Miss Shao, the old madam invites you in.”

Shao Ting took a deep breath, back tense, and whispered, “Thank you, miss.”

Qing Xue personally escorted Shao Ting from the gate to the residence. Observing along the way, Qing Xue found her bright-eyed and composed, “You’re welcome.”

Zhulan met Shao Ting inside. Upon entering, Shao Ting’s voice trembled. This wasn’t the academy, standing before her wasn’t just the principal, but also Mrs. Hou, “This young woman greets the lady, wishing the lady well.”

Zhulan gestured for the little maids inside to leave. Too many maids would make Miss Shao more uneasy, “Don’t be nervous, call me principal.”

Shao Ting raised her head, meeting the lady’s gentle gaze, and her voice steadied, “Principal.”

Zhulan gestured for her to sit down and said, “I just want to chat with you. How’s everything at the academy lately?”

Shao Ting’s gaze caught sight of Master Ming, she was slightly startled but quickly responded, “The young woman is well, grateful for the principal’s opportunity.”

“The opportunity is earned by yourself. Opportunities come to those prepared. You are doing well.”

Shao Ting’s heart leapt with joy. She had received praise from the principal. She had never admired a woman before in her life until she met the principal. A woman running an academy, and running it so well, the more she learned, the more she wished to become someone like the principal.

Zhulan said, “I heard from the female officer about your performance, keep striving, I have high hopes for you.”

This girl, well-trained, would be a great helper for her in the future.

Shao Ting’s voice rose, “The young woman will not disappoint the principal.”

“Pfft.” Ming Hui couldn’t help but laugh.

Shao Ting blushed, feeling a bit unnatural, nervous about her earlier impropriety, clutching her clothes anxiously.

Zhulan gave her grandson a glare. Ming Hui quickly said, “Grandson will shut up.”

Shao Ting slowly regained her composure. Zhulan signaled Ming Hui to bring her written booklet, which recorded some of her thoughts. Ming Hui got up from the bookshelf and brought it over.

Zhulan took the paper and pen, wrote a few things, and handed it to Shao Ting, “Read it carefully when you get back.”

Shao Ting was thrilled, receiving it like a treasure, “The young woman will definitely read it thoroughly.”

After Shao Ting left, Zhulan stopped her grandson who was about to run, “Tell me.”

Ming Hui felt a bit guilty, “This girl is different, uh, she has ideas.”

And she’s particularly admiring towards grandma, uh, quite interesting.

Zhulan recalled a few things Ming Hui had mentioned, knowing that some matters start from curiosity, she waved her hand, “Go on.”

“Grandson is really leaving?”

“Yes, go.”

Ming Hui indeed left, telling the young servant standing at the main courtyard door, “Let’s go.”

The young servant grinned, “Young master, I’m heading home tomorrow, what do you think?”

“Go then.”

“Thank you, young master.”

Today in the capital was bound to be a nerve-wracking day. First, Mr. Loo was arrested, implicating many others into prison, and the common people on the streets were also jittery.

Then, the Duke of Yongan was summoned to the palace. It was said he needed support to walk when leaving.

Right now, the least afraid would be Zhou Shuren, even the Crown Prince had become considerably more cautious.

Returning to the residence, Steward Ding was exceptionally attentive, “Mr. Hou, slow down.”

Zhou Shuren stopped, “Did you cause trouble?”

“No, how would I dare, it’s just that with you back, I feel at ease.”

Zhou Shuren understood, “Alright, don’t follow me, go do your work.”

“Yes.”

Steward Ding watched Mr. Hou leave with relief, clicking his tongue twice, telling the young servants behind him, “You guys go get busy as well.”

In the main courtyard, Zhulan’s first words upon seeing Zhou Shuren, “The Duke of Yongan’s residence was blamed?”

Zhou Shuren, “Hmm, initially, the Emperor would have moved on after some sadness. But then Mr. Loo’s issue was exposed, and the Emperor was furious, blaming everything related to the Retired Emperor.”

The Duke of Yongan’s residence couldn’t avoid it, like a glaring night lamp, impossible for the Emperor to overlook!
