Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Perry Yates did not refuse their requests.

’How should I put it?’ In Perry Yates’s mind, these people were just game NPCs. The reason she’d saved them, aside from collecting more cards, was for an even more important goal: to achieve a higher evaluation in the game.

She had received rewards in the previous practice games.

Posing as a bar owner, Perry Yates had made some inquiries and discovered that not all players received this reward. Only those with an excellent performance in the game could obtain it.

The criteria for this ”excellent” evaluation weren’t just about surviving unscathed; it was also best to look out for others.

As for whether letting these NPCs go would ruin everything when the game unleashed its final gambit, Perry Yates wasn’t worried. After all, they were the ones who had asked to disembark.

Besides, her targets had been the players from the start. The NPCs were just incidental.

’Still, these NPCs have quite a few cards on them. Maybe I can harvest one more batch.’

「On the twenty-eighth day of the game.」 The floodwaters had completely receded, revealing the devastated ruins of Solara.

But as the saying goes, there’s no place like home.

Even with Solara in this state, many of the native NPCs still chose to disembark.

Perry Yates was, of course, very supportive of them. She even thoughtfully provided various living supplies—not just food and drink, but also pots, bowls, pans, and the like.

She had collected all these items while Solara was flooded. They were useless to her now, so she figured she might as well sell them off on the cheap.

And she sold them at a very low price: just one card for a whole pile of stuff.

For people who had lost their homes and had nothing, this was an incredibly attractive offer. Almost no one refused.

While some chose to leave, others naturally chose to stay.

Perry Yates didn’t drive these people away. It was only for a couple more days, and she could certainly afford to support a few extra people.

Noah’s Ark hovered in the sky above Solara and let the natives who wanted to leave disembark.

As they left, they waved gratefully at Noah’s Ark, watching it depart.

「The twenty-ninth day of the game.」

The day was calm and peaceful—at least on the surface.

Early in the morning, a piercing alarm blared in the monitoring room.

When Perry Yates arrived in the monitoring room, she initially found nothing.

At a time like this, a normal person would assume the alarm system was malfunctioning, but Perry Yates knew better. Noah’s Ark was no ordinary vessel, after all. Especially at such a critical, sensitive moment.

If they could just get through today and tomorrow, they would be home free.

By noon, Perry Yates still hadn’t found anything, but she didn’t let her guard down.

Finally, her persistence paid off. Through a monitor showing the view beneath the hull, Perry Yates saw a black shadow flash past.

’There really is something here.’

Perry Yates’s first instinct was to send Water Lotus down to investigate what it was.

’But then again,’ she thought, ’Water Lotus has low attack power. Even if she finds it, what’s the point? She can’t deal with it.’

While Perry Yates hesitated, the figure in the water finally lost its patience. Its massive body slammed heavily into the underwater protective shield.

Instantly, the entire shield, and Noah’s Ark along with it, began to tremble violently.

Inside the cabins, everyone was jolted awake and began to investigate.

But aside from the ripples spreading through the water, they couldn’t see a thing.

And Perry Yates, the only one who knew the truth, had no energy to explain what was happening to them.

The impact had already told her what the creature was.

It wasn’t a Deep Sea Cannibal, but a fish covered in pink scales that looked remarkably like a bighead carp.

The fish was still ramming into Noah’s Ark repeatedly.

Seeing this, Perry Yates simply activated flight mode.

Since most people had disembarked, Noah’s Ark felt rather empty. To conserve energy, Perry Yates activated flight mode and simultaneously shrank the vessel’s size by two-thirds.

The players were gathered on the top floor, while the NPCs were spread across the other levels.

Although its size was reduced, Noah’s Ark’s speed increased considerably.

As they ascended, the ”bighead carp” in the water below showed no signs of giving up. In fact, with Noah’s Ark now smaller, it even tried to leap out of the water to ram them.

Only then did everyone get a clear look at it.

Rose-red scales covered its entire body, gradually fading in color from its head down to its tail, which was a pale, pinkish-white.

As everyone knows, pink is a rare color in the animal kingdom. After all, a color like that in the wild is like a dinner invitation to predators.

This was especially true for a fish that looked so much like a bighead carp. But bighead carp were freshwater fish, so how could one be in the ocean?

As Noah’s Ark flew higher, Perry Yates used Identification on the pink fish in the sea via the monitor.

The next second, data on the pink ”bighead carp” appeared before her.

[Mimic Octopus: Can perfectly imitate any creature it has ever seen. Is typically pink.

Giant Mimic Octopuses are apex predators of the sea and exist in a symbiotic relationship with Deep Sea Cannibals.

The Deep Sea Cannibal captures prey for the giant Mimic Octopus, and the Mimic Octopus uses its mimicry ability to lure humans into deep-sea areas for the Deep Sea Cannibal to hunt.]

After reading all the information, Perry Yates suddenly felt like she had killed a minion only for the boss to show up.

’Still, I’m quite interested in this Mimic Octopus’s ability,’ she thought. ’If I kill it, I wonder if it’ll drop a card with a similar function.’

With this in mind, an Any Door and a Clone appeared behind Perry Yates.

The Clone passed through the Any Door, leaving Noah’s Ark and materializing on the Mimic Octopus’s body.

The Clone activated Invisibility. The Mimic Octopus didn’t notice its presence. Then, a Card Ability was triggered.

The devouring ability of Dodder Seed and the power of Seed of Life—two four-star cards—were activated simultaneously.

The Mimic Octopus soon felt that something was wrong with its body. The Cold Poison released by the Seed of Life was particularly agonizing. It wanted to flee, but there was no way Perry Yates would let it escape.

Countless venomous Thorny Roses sprouted from around the Clone, tightly binding the Mimic Octopus and rendering it immobile.
