Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Not only was it a useless card, but if word got out that she had an Advanced Card, it could also lead to unnecessary trouble.

Rather than risk losing everything, it was better to exchange it for Contribution Value. At least the Survival Game Administration was an official organization.

After closing the game forum, Perry Yates lay in bed, thinking about what she needed to do tomorrow.

First, she needed to go to the hair salon.

Her hair now reached her buttocks. It was a little too long, so she planned on getting it cut shorter.

But now that her hair was in such good condition, she didn’t plan on cutting it as short as before. She would leave it a little longer this time.

With this in mind, Perry Yates touched her hair.

’Such beautiful hair. If long hair weren’t so inconvenient to manage, she really couldn’t bear to cut it.’

Next was the location of her shop, which she needed to finalize as soon as possible.

Originally, Perry Yates had planned to buy a place outright. With her current savings, she could afford a storefront, but doing so would risk her intentions being discovered.

She could anonymously trade cards for a property on the game forums, but that also carried the risk of exposure.

As this thought crossed her mind, Perry Yates took out two golden cards: The Nameless Bar and Phantom Street.

A sudden flash of inspiration struck her, and she came up with a great idea.

’It was just opening a shop. She didn’t need to do market research like other businesses. All she needed was a location.’

’After all, her shop wouldn’t be open to just anyone.’

The more she thought about it, the more excited Perry Yates became, making it even harder to fall asleep.

Realizing this, a card appeared in Perry Yates’s hand.

Sleeping Cloud Mist.

Soon, a wave of drowsiness washed over her.

In the last second before falling asleep, a thought suddenly struck Perry Yates. ’Did I forget something important?’

’What could it be?’

Suddenly, she remembered the Little Ferret in her System Space.

With a lift of her hand, she released the Little Ferret.

”Sorry, I forgot about you.”

The Little Ferret had no feelings about being forgotten. Because it had been in the System Space, it wasn’t sensitive to the passage of time. It just felt like it had taken a nap and woken up in a strange place.

Looking at the already-asleep Perry Yates, the Little Ferret surveyed its new, unfamiliar surroundings. After a moment, a look of satisfaction appeared on its face, clearly very pleased with the environment.

Then, it burrowed under Perry Yates’s covers, curled its body into a ball, closed its eyes, and fell soundly asleep.

「The next day」 Perry Yates was woken up by the ringing of her doorbell.

Opening her eyes from a deep sleep, Perry Yates even wondered if she had misheard.

She had no friends or family and a social life that was basically zero. The only people who ever rang her doorbell were delivery drivers.

But she hadn’t ordered any takeout lately, let alone any packages.

Though her mind was filled with doubt, the insistent ringing of the doorbell confirmed she hadn’t misheard. Perry Yates struggled out of bed to open the door.

Thanks to the Sleeping Cloud Mist last night, Perry Yates had slept very well.

The only problem was that she got grumpy when woken up. She was used to waking on her own and didn’t like being rushed.

After opening the door, she saw the property manager standing outside, with two uniformed staff members behind him.

Perry Yates’s gaze went past the property manager to the two people behind him. She recognized their uniforms—they were the special uniforms of the Survival Game Administration’s employees.

’These two are from the Survival Game Administration.’

”Miss Yates, I’m so sorry to disturb you. These two are from the Survival Game Administration. They said they have urgent business with you. I hope you’re not upset.”

The property management didn’t know much about this resident, Perry Yates. She was either gone for half a year at a time or a total shut-in.

Either way, aside from when she paid her property management fees and other expenses, she rarely interacted with them.

Of course, this was also the type of resident the property management liked best: low-maintenance, no trouble, and never complained.

So when two people from the Survival Game Administration showed up at her door today, they were given quite a scare.

They never expected that a game player would emerge from their residential complex.

And by the looks of it, a very powerful player at that—one who had even gotten the attention of the Survival Game Administration.

After inviting the two staff members from the Survival Game Administration inside, Perry Yates poured them each a cup of tea.

”Sorry, I just woke up. Could you give me a moment to freshen up?”

Hearing this, the two staff members smiled politely and said, ”Of course. Actually, it was inconsiderate of us to come so early.”

「Ten minutes later」 Perry Yates returned to the living room, having changed her clothes and washed her face.

”What did you come to see me about today?” Perry Yates asked, getting straight to the point.

’The Survival Game Administration couldn’t have come all this way just to chat.’

’Thinking back on the last two games, she had interacted with people from the Survival Game Administration twice in total.’

’The first time didn’t count since she hadn’t used her real name. That left the second time.’

’Could these two be here because of Gary Goodman?’

The two staff members wore gentle smiles as one said, ”We came today specifically to thank you, Miss Yates, for your actions in the Glacial Realm game.”

”Thank me?”

Perry Yates was about to ask ”Thank you for what?” but then reconsidered. ’Her actions in the game were indeed worthy of thanks; after all, she’d saved the lives of countless players.’

’Still, she wasn’t sure if that was what this was about. And if it was, how did these people know?’

’She had been very careful to maintain her anonymity when she was saving people, covering herself from head to toe.’

”Many players were saved because of you, including a number of our own from the Survival Game Administration. Without you, our losses would have been much greater, so there’s no need to be modest.”

Hearing this, Perry Yates thought to herself, ’So that’s what it was.’

”Not only that, but you also helped Gary Goodman successfully annihilate an entire city of the Snow-Ox Clan, acquiring vast resources and saving even more people.”

”After discussion within the Survival Game Administration, we have decided to award you one hundred Contribution Points as a reward. You may also select any three-star card from our Administration’s internal vault as a bonus reward.”

”Finally, we see the justice in your heart from your actions, Miss Yates. Therefore, we hope you will officially join us and become one of our own.”

The first two rewards sounded pretty good. She had carefully researched the contribution system on the forums yesterday. One Contribution Point was equivalent to 500,000, which meant one point was worth half of a one-star card.

But that last part...

’Justice?’

’Since when did she have something like that?’

’Alright, maybe just a little.’
