Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Day thirteen of the game.

The rain continued, though it had eased up quite a bit. The typhoon hadn’t stopped, but it was also weaker than yesterday.

This couldn’t help but give people a glimmer of hope.

This was especially true for some of the players, as they knew that if they could just hold on through today and tomorrow, they would be able to leave the day after.

Meanwhile, the players who were preparing to safely survive the full thirty days in the game were on high alert. After all, for them, not even half the game had passed.

Perry Yates used Water Lotus’s exploration function to collect a good amount of supplies along the way. At the same time, she finally found the figure that had fled from her.

Although she had already braced herself for the worst, she was still shocked when she finally saw it.

The white figure she had seen twice before was a fish covered in platinum-white scales.

The fish was nearly a meter long, with red eyes and a mouth full of sharp, vicious teeth.

When Perry Yates found the fish, it was tearing into a dead human corpse.

With just a slight tug, the fish easily ripped an arm off the corpse.

Upon discovering the fish, Perry Yates immediately moved to capture it.

Perhaps because it was used to rampaging through the water, always treating other fish as prey while it remained the predator, it never thought to flee.

Or perhaps its fish brain simply couldn’t process that much. In any case, Perry Yates caught it with ease.

But was it over just like that?

No!

After being caught, the fish began to struggle violently.

Perry Yates had to put in a great deal of effort controlling the Water Lotus vines to finally subdue the fish.

Then, after some more time, the subdued fish was finally in Perry Yates’s hands.

Inside the Safe House, Perry Yates deliberately cleared a space in the center and took protective measures to prevent the fish from dirtying the floor.

Only after doing all this did she take the fish out of her Space Backpack.

The fish’s eyes had been pierced by the vines of a Thorny Rose. The toxins had seeped deep into its body, and it was now completely lifeless.

Perry Yates laid the fish flat on the ground and reached out to touch its scales.

They were cool to the touch.

She tapped them with her hand, producing a metallic sound.

Hard scales, sharp teeth—everything about it screamed apex predator.

Perry Yates tried to dissect the fish, wanting to see if it had any weaknesses. But after several attempts, she found she had no idea where to even begin.

After trying for a long time, Perry Yates finally managed to pry a single scale from the fish’s body.

The white, translucent scale was incredibly sharp along its edges.

She took an unopened can of coke from her Space Backpack.

She lightly swiped the scale across the can’s surface. The sealed can was instantly sliced open, and the coke inside spewed out.

And throughout the whole process, Perry Yates hadn’t even used any force.

”So sharp.”

’These aren’t scales; they’re weapons.’

After several hours of scraping off all the scales, Perry Yates finally succeeded in cutting open the fish’s belly.

As the belly was slit open, a not-yet-fully-digested human thigh was revealed right before her eyes.

She had anticipated this scene, but seeing it for real still made her jump.

Of course, that wasn’t the most important part. What was most important was that Perry Yates examined all the food inside the fish’s body and discovered it was almost all from dead humans.

There were clearly other fish in the water, yet there were no remains of other fish in its stomach.

Of course, it was also possible that the remains of other fish had already been digested, and she only found the leg because it had been eaten recently.

Perry Yates threw out everything she had cleaned from the fish’s belly. When she looked at the fish’s corpse on the ground again, a silver light flashed through her black eyes, and information about the fish appeared before her.

[Deep Sea Cannibal:

A ferocious predator living in the deep sea, possessing hard scales and a bite force capable of crushing reinforced concrete. It can overcome water pressure to travel freely between deep and shallow seas, and can live in both salt and fresh water.

Regarding its diet, the Deep Sea Cannibal has an extremely obsessive love for humans. As long as humans are present, it will refuse all other food.]

Reading the information she had just obtained, Perry Yates couldn’t help but gasp.

’Crushing reinforced concrete?’

When she read that, Perry Yates suddenly felt that her current location wasn’t so safe anymore.

To confirm the accuracy of the information, Perry Yates quickly used her Water Lotus to inspect the submerged buildings.

Perhaps because it was only the thirteenth day of the game, the number of Deep Sea Cannibals was still not very high, so the submerged buildings still looked quite intact.

However, through her spiritual power, she still discovered that small and large gaps had appeared on some of the buildings.

Those gaps didn’t look like they were caused by impacts or water damage; there were distinct bite marks around them.

This discovery greatly alarmed Perry Yates. This hadn’t happened in the [Immersive Experience] before.

But Perry Yates soon understood the reason why.

Although [Immersive Experience] allowed one to truly experience a situation, its content was influenced by the Knowledge Crystal and the user’s own consciousness.

The Knowledge Crystal could predict what the user wanted to see, but it wasn’t comprehensive. So, upon seeing the typhoon and rainstorm, everyone subconsciously assumed that the crisis in this game came from those things, forgetting the danger from beneath the water.

’Looks like I can’t completely rely on the Knowledge Crystal and Immersive Experience in the future.’

What mattered most was having enough strength of her own.

For example, even now, knowing about the existence of the Deep Sea Cannibals, Perry Yates still showed no signs of panic. After all, she still held the Noah’s Ark card up her sleeve.

The Deep Sea Cannibals’ teeth might be able to bite through reinforced concrete, but they couldn’t necessarily bite through Noah’s Ark.

Perry Yates was very confident about this. After all, it was the first five-star card she had fused and brought to Ascension.

She disposed of the Deep Sea Cannibal’s corpse on the floor.

The fish’s meat was tender and probably edible, but even so, Perry Yates wouldn’t try it. After all, the thing ate people.

If she ate its meat, how would that be any different from indirect cannibalism? What if she got infected with prions?
