Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Perry Yates glanced at the two and was certain they were players. Not wanting to get involved, she refused them outright:

”Sorry, I’m just a tourist, too. I don’t know the area well. If you want someone to show you around, I suggest you find a tour guide.”

With that, she ignored the woman, opened her door, and went straight into her room.

She had been to many places today but had found no trace of any cards. As expected, the cards weren’t going to be easy to find.

She had bought a lot of things today, but with two players staying next door, Perry Yates was extremely cautious and didn’t take anything out. Instead, she sent her consciousness into her Space Backpack to take a look.

First, the medicine. Although she didn’t really need it, she had bought some anyway. It could be used to trade for supplies in a critical moment.

’Hmm, the medicine here seems a bit different from the medicine on Cerulea.’

Most medicine on Cerulea was white, coated with a layer of sugar at most to make it easier to swallow.

But the medicine here was transparent. It looked just like candy, making it look quite appetizing.

Inside the first-aid kit were five different types of medication: fever and pain relievers, allergy medicine, stomach medicine, and some topical ointments.

’I wonder how effective it is... Oh well, I’ll just keep it for now.’

Next was the food.

Today, Perry Yates had ridden her electric scooter around, buying things as she went. Besides what was currently in her Space Backpack, she also had several packaged banquet meals arriving tomorrow. That should be more than enough for her.

Finally, there were the clothes. Besides what was already in the space, she planned to go out and buy more changes of clothes tomorrow.

Just then, Perry Yates noticed a stirring outside. Her Clone was back.

To avoid alerting the two people next door, Perry Yates only recalled her Sun Avatar.

The main reason was that it was nighttime, and the energy drain for the Sun Avatar to remain outside would be too great.

A hint of pleasant surprise flashed in Perry Yates’s eyes as she looked at the card that had suddenly appeared in her hand. It seemed her two Clones had been quite successful.

Immediately after, she sent her Moon Avatar out.

After doing all this, she put the card away, took out her phone, and started ordering delivery. She suddenly had a craving for barbecue.

She ordered hundreds of yuan worth of barbecue in one go.

Half an hour later, Perry Yates’s delivery arrived.

As she opened her door to get the food, the door to the neighboring room, which had been shut tight, suddenly swung open just as she passed by.

A tall, skinny young man walked out of the room.

’The girl said she was with her boyfriend, so this must be him.’

The young man spotted Perry Yates and greeted her enthusiastically. ”Heading out so late?”

Hearing this, Perry Yates smiled politely and said, ”I’m going to get my delivery.”

”What a coincidence, I’m getting my delivery too. Let’s go together. To be honest, this guesthouse has a lot of rooms. It’s easy to get lost if you’re not careful.”

Perry Yates didn’t say anything, just smiled.

Seeing this, the young man didn’t give up and kept trying to make conversation the whole way.

”You look pretty young. Are you still in school?” the young man asked.

Perry Yates shook her head. ”No.”

”If you’re not in school, then you must be working. Did you take time off from your company for this trip, or are you here on business?”

Perry Yates shook her head again. ”I don’t have a job.”

The two of them walked to the front desk.

The young man looked at Perry Yates’s huge pile of takeout, his eyes filled with shock and curiosity. ”You bought so much. Can you finish it all?”

Perry Yates didn’t say anything. She just gave him a look that said, ”Mind your own business,” then turned and left.

After returning to her room, Perry Yates put the food on the table, tore open the bag, and started eating.

’After what just happened, I’m sure of it. They suspect me, and they might even be watching me. How else could it be such a coincidence? The moment I stepped out, he just happened to follow.’

After eating her fill, Perry Yates lay down on the bed and closed her eyes. She appeared to be sleeping, but in reality, her consciousness had transferred to one of her Clones.

...

Solara was a tourist city, so even at night, it was brightly lit and exceptionally lively. However...

’Isn’t this weather a little too hot? Even at night, the wind is still scorching.’

Perry Yates walked down the bustling street. The calls of vendors on both sides were incessant, even livelier than during the day.

On a billboard not far away hung a huge city slogan: Welcome to Solara. Enjoy our pleasant temperatures and beautiful scenery.

Perry Yates wiped the sweat from her brow. ’I don’t know about the ”beautiful scenery,” but ”pleasant temperatures”? Seriously? The people here must have some kind of misunderstanding of what that means. It’s hot enough outside to fry an egg.’

As Perry Yates looked at the golden beaches and ocean waves depicted on the billboard, she suddenly realized a serious problem.

’Solara... it couldn’t be a coastal city, could it?’

She took out her phone to search. As expected, it was a coastal city.

’This means the danger level of this game has just increased dramatically.’

’But that’s a problem for other people. After all, I have Claudia Vance. As long as it doesn’t start raining meteors, I can always escape into the sky.’

Wandering along, Perry Yates stopped at nearly every stall for a moment but didn’t buy anything.

As the saying goes, you have to spend your resources where they count the most. She didn’t have much money right now, and with the disaster yet to begin, there was no way she’d be allowed to get things for free.

The reason Perry Yates was stopping was to search for any potential cards.

Although she herself hadn’t found anything today, her two Clones had brought back three white-rarity item cards: Rice Cake, Grilled Cold Noodles, and Savory Chinese Crepe.

Thinking of the Candied Hawthorn card she’d found earlier, she felt that the probability of food cards appearing in this game instance was exceptionally high.

Perry Yates held the cards, planning to perform Ascension on them when she had a free moment. ’I wonder if I can go back and open up a food street on Phantom Street.’

She wandered from one end of the street to the other, meticulously checking every spot, but she came up empty-handed. She didn’t even see the shadow of a single card.

...

「The third day of the game.」

Last night, while wandering around outside, she had finally found two cards in some nook or cranny, but at the same time, she had been discovered by other players.

Fortunately, she had been using a Clone at the time. After being cornered, she simply dismissed the Clone and vanished on the spot.

She hadn’t slept all night. The aftereffects of pulling an all-nighter were dizziness and blurred vision, and she felt completely out of it.

After a yawn, Perry Yates took a piece of candy from her pocket, unwrapped it, and revealed a mint-green hard candy.
