Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

After a full sweep of the stronghold, Perry Yates quickly found three different hiding spots for cards.

It seemed the Snow-Ox Clan here deeply understood the principle of not putting all their eggs in one basket.

Moreover, they had sorted the cards by type. Item cards were in one place, Skill Cards were in another, and finally, there was the hiding spot for the Advanced Cards.

That last one was hidden in the most unexpected place of all.

This treasure box was actually hidden in the players’ gathering area.

Perry Yates was truly shocked by this discovery.

Next was the place where the players were imprisoned.

However, if she wanted to pull the same trick as before, she would run into a problem. Taking the cards and food would be easy enough, but freeing the captured players at the same time would be quite troublesome.

The stronghold was heavily guarded, especially the area where the players were being held.

Recalling what she had heard about the coming cold wave, Perry Yates hesitated for a moment before deciding to give the choice to the players themselves.

But before that, she first went to the storage area for miscellaneous items she had found earlier.

Aside from cards, food, and clothing, the treasure boxes also contained various survival items.

Things like tents, sunglasses, and means of transport such as sleds.

To the Snow-Ox Clan, these items were like toys, casually tossed into a warehouse.

After getting what she wanted, she went to the players’ prison. She used the toxin from her Thorny Rose to take out the Snow-Ox Clan guards at the door, then used Invisibility and Instant Teleportation to enter the room where the players were being held.

In addition to the guards outside, there were also guards inside, meant to prevent the players from trying anything.

Most of these guards were former players themselves. They had chosen to side with the Snow-Ox Clan, losing their player status and becoming trapped here forever.

’Human nature is a funny thing. When people are stuck in the mud, they just want to drag more people down to sink with them.’

So, besides just guarding, these turncoats constantly preached about the benefits of staying and cooperating with the Snow-Ox Clan, hoping to convince the new captives to give up any resistance.

And after their constant empty promises, quite a few captives had actually been swayed and were considering cooperating with the Snow-Ox Clan.

After all, they just wanted to survive the fifteen days required by the game. If they could gain the protection of the Snow-Ox Clan, their chances of survival would increase dramatically.

Just a little cooperation, helping them find and open treasure boxes.

If the cooperation went smoothly, they might even consider trying to last for thirty days.

Seeing thoughtful expressions on some of the captives’ faces, the players who had been making the grand promises exchanged a look, an imperceptible smile flashing in their eyes.

Just then, several vines suddenly appeared out of thin air, wrapping tightly around the collaborators’ necks with lightning speed.

Toxin injected into their bodies through the thorns, killing them almost instantly.

The imprisoned players jumped in fright at the sight, and some of the more timid ones screamed out loud.

But the moment one of them opened her mouth, a vine shot out from behind and wrapped around it, silencing her.

After taking care of everything, Perry Yates deactivated her Invisibility.

”Are you here to save us?” a player asked.

Perry Yates glanced at him. ”What else?”

’Am I here to laugh at your misfortune?’

The man seemed to realize he had asked a stupid question and gave an embarrassed laugh.

”Here’s the situation...”

Perry Yates explained everything she knew.

”According to them, this cold wave will last for several days. You’ll most likely be safe during that time. But after the cold wave ends, if you still refuse to submit, you’ll be used as bait. As for what kind of bait, I don’t know.

You have two choices now. First, you can leave. I can provide you with clothes and food, but nothing more. After you leave, you might face pursuit from the Snow-Ox Clan as well as the cold wave.

The second choice is to stay here. As long as you’re obedient, you should be safe. Of course, if you choose this, you might be trapped here forever, just like them.”

After she finished speaking, Perry Yates watched them quietly, waiting for their decision.

”We choose to leave.”

Almost everyone chose to leave.

Even if some had wanted to stay, they were swayed by the sheer number of people choosing to go.

After all, if this many people suddenly disappeared and you were the only one left, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what would happen the next day.

Besides, those who chose to leave would worry that anyone who stayed behind might snitch on them to ensure their own safety. The best solution was for everyone to act together: either everyone leaves, or everyone stays.

Upon hearing their decision, Perry Yates took out items, food, and various snow-travel vehicles from her Space Backpack.

Seeing this, the crowd finally believed that Perry Yates’s words hadn’t been empty promises.

So much clothing and food, and even specialized vehicles and survival gear—there was no way she could have obtained all this in such a short time.

The players all thought of one possibility, and their gazes toward Perry Yates filled with awe.

There was only one place where someone could get so much food, clothing, vehicles, and survival gear in such a short time: the Snow-Ox Clan’s warehouse.

「A dozen or so minutes later.」

By now, everyone had changed into thick clothes. Pulled from treasure boxes, their quality was naturally top-notch.

Each person had taken some food, one vehicle, and some survival equipment.

Perry Yates had already dealt with the two guards outside. She had done all she could for these people. With that, she activated Invisibility and Instant Teleportation and left, leaving the group of players standing there, waiting for her next instructions.

But when they saw Perry Yates disappear without another word, they knew she didn’t intend to travel with them.

After standing stunned for a dozen seconds, the group decided to cooperate for the time being.

During their captivity, they had come to realize the strength of the Snow-Ox Clan. Going it alone was not an option. Only by working together did they have a sliver of hope for survival.

Not to mention, they still faced the threat of the coming cold wave. They had to leave as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, the now-departed Perry Yates was also thinking about this.

From what those two Snow-Ox Clan members had said, the cold wave could last for several days.

Under these circumstances, she definitely couldn’t just keep floating in the sky.

With this in mind, Perry Yates decided to use the remaining time to find a suitable shelter.

Time was short. She decided to leave the matter of food and clothes as it was; there was no need to push things to the extreme and provoke the Snow-Ox Clan into a desperate counterattack.
