Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure

Just then, Perry Yates felt a hostile gaze fall upon her.

Turning her head, she saw a woman in a black tracksuit looking at her.

After being caught staring, the woman wasn’t the least bit flustered. She kept her eyes fixed on her, a pair of long, upturned eyes raking over Perry from head to toe, then back up again. It was extremely unsettling.

”Hmph, another freeloader. Let me be clear, I worked hard to find my own food. I’m not sharing any with her.”

Faced with the other woman’s animosity, Perry Yates paid it no mind. ”It’s fine. I won’t eat your food. Sunbathing is enough for me. Besides...”

She dangled the small red fish in her hand, showing that she had brought her own food.

The woman was momentarily speechless at Perry’s words. She then turned her head to the side, snorted coldly, and said, ”I certainly hope so.”

”Alright, now’s not the time for infighting,” Giselle Lowell said.

Then, she introduced Perry Yates to the other two.

”She’s a new player named Leah Lowell. Leah, these two are Clarence and Joel Joyce.”

Perry Yates smiled and nodded at the two as a greeting.

Just then, Giselle Lowell suddenly asked, ”You probably don’t have any cooking gear, do you? How have you been making your meals until now?”

Though her clothes looked a bit grimy, her complexion was deceptively healthy.

Perry Yates was taken aback for a moment, then replied, ”I used tree bark as a pot, found some wild fruit occasionally, or just sunbathed.”

Hearing her last sentence, Arthur Ford, who was standing to the side, grew animated. ”You can really photosynthesize like a plant?”

”Something like that,” Perry Yates said vaguely.

She could indeed absorb sunlight to replenish her energy, but it wasn’t actual photosynthesis.

’But there’s no need to explain all that.’

”Since you don’t have a pot, you can use this.” As she spoke, Giselle Lowell took out a White Card.

The card had a picture of a red pot on it.

She looked at Giselle Lowell, her face a mask of shock.

’If I remember correctly, White Cards are single-use, right?’

This ”single-use” didn’t mean it would disappear after one use, but rather that it couldn’t be turned back into a card.

For example, with the water jug card Perry Yates had just acquired, if she used it and drank all the water inside, it would just become an empty water jug.

But if it were a starred item card, once the water was used up, the card would revert to its original form, and after a while, the water inside the jug would refill.

This period was known as the card’s cooldown period.

Seeing her surprised expression, Giselle Lowell waved her hand dismissively. ”It’s fine, just take it and use it. It’s only a White Card, after all.”

Besides, the item Sealed inside was just a useless pot.

For players, although cards were rare, some trash-tier cards were still looked down on.

A good card could be priceless, while some trash cards were so worthless you couldn’t even give them away for free, like this pot card.

Giselle Lowell hadn’t even gotten it as a drop from killing a monster; she had simply picked it up in the last game.

Hearing this, Perry Yates didn’t stand on ceremony and decisively activated the pot card.

A small red pot, about the size of two palms, quickly appeared in her hands.

She then went to the stream to fetch some water, taking the opportunity to clean and gut the small fish.

On her way back, she performed Ascension on both the water and the fish.

The stream water looked crystal clear, but who knew what its source was like? It was safer to use Ascension on it.

When Perry Yates placed the pot over the fire to cook, she noticed the expressions on Giselle Lowell and the others had turned incredibly grim.

”What’s wrong with you all?” she asked.

Seeing the looks on their faces, she felt a sense of unease.

Clarence was the one who answered her question.

The teenage boy’s voice was clear and bright.

”It’s your first time in the game, so it’s normal that you don’t know. You’re aware that the survival game lasts for thirty days, right?”

Hearing this, Perry Yates nodded. ”The survival game lasts thirty days, and there’s a chance to quit on the fifteenth day.”

That was something everyone knew.

Clarence continued, ”But in reality, the thirty-day survival game isn’t dangerous from the very beginning. It has tiers of difficulty, with each ten-day period being a new tier.

The first ten days of the game are relatively safe. Players can use this time to gather resources. As long as you’re careful, you’ll basically be fine.

From day ten to day twenty, the game gradually becomes more dangerous. If a player hasn’t fused with a card by day fifteen, it’s absolutely impossible for them to survive the remaining time. That’s why there’s an opportunity to quit on the fifteenth day.

Finally, there’s the period from day twenty to day thirty, which is the most dangerous time in the game.”

After hearing Clarence’s explanation, Perry Yates fell into deep thought. She had never seen anything like this on the game forums. She wasn’t sure if no one had mentioned it, or if they had and she’d just never come across the post.

”So, were you all just worrying about how to survive the next ten days?” Perry Yates asked.

Martin Sharp nodded. ”The last ten days of the game become extremely dangerous. There might even be a massive rampage of jungle creatures. Our group is small, so the best strategy is to find a place to hide.

We need to quietly get through these last ten days without getting into conflicts with those warped creatures.”

Hearing this, Perry Yates nodded. It was indeed a good plan. After all, nothing was more important than their own lives. As long as they could hunker down until the game ended, victory would be theirs.

”On that front, our tent is a three-star item with a concealment ability, so we don’t have to worry about hiding. What we need to worry about now is food,” Giselle Lowell said.

Without enough food, they would starve to death even if they hid inside the tent.

Therefore, their next mission was to find enough food.

Hearing ”three-star item,” Perry Yates looked with some surprise at the army-green tent in the distance.

’I can’t believe this ordinary-looking tent is actually a three-star item. You really can’t judge a tent by its appearance.’

After eating, the group packed up their camp and began to search for food.

As veteran players, their knowledge of the game far surpassed Perry Yates’s. They could easily distinguish which plants were edible and which were not.

However, to be on the safe side, they would still test any edible plant or wild fruit they found with a device.

Perry Yates watched Giselle Lowell use a device that looked like a blood glucose meter and couldn’t help but ask curiously, ”Is that an item too?”
