Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1583: 1582 You reap what you sow

An Lin furrowed her brow slightly as she watched Qin Mu snatch the phone from her hand. His long fingers pressed the answer button, and he gave her a reassuring look before politely and gently saying, ”Mom!”

”Ah Mu, why are you the one answering? Where’s An Lin?”

Standing elegantly by the bed, Qin Mu listened as Mom An’s voice came through the phone, and An Lin, sitting on the bed, could hear it too.

Qin Mu smiled slightly, walking toward his hospital bed with the phone in hand, ”Mom, An Lin went downstairs to buy me some fruit. Is there something you need?”

Lying without even blushing.

An Lin muttered to herself, a faint displeasure on her delicate face.

Qin Mu returned to his bed, and An Lin couldn’t hear what her mom said.

However, from Qin Mu’s words, she could guess roughly, and she couldn’t help but turn her head, looking at Qin Mu seated at the edge of the bed.

She only heard him say, ”Mom, this was my mistake; it has nothing to do with An Lin. I was the one who lied back then and wouldn’t let An Lin explain.”

Though it was an apology, Qin Mu’s tone was calm and composed, showing no sign of genuine remorse.

After a few explanations, the call ended.

”An Lin!”

After hanging up, Qin Mu turned to look at An Lin, gently calling her.

An Lin initially didn’t want to talk to him, but seeing his furrowed brow and hearing him say, ”Come help me a bit; my wound hurts,”

he implied he couldn’t get into bed himself.

Even though An Lin was angry, hearing Qin Mu complain about the pain in his wound made her immediately show concern. Without thinking twice, she got out of bed and came to him.

She supported Qin Mu by one arm, softly whispering, ”Take it slow. Lie down first while I call the doctor to see if the wound has opened.”

”No need, it’s been so many days. The wound doesn’t open that easily; it just hurts a bit.”

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered.

Pain before the wound heals is quite normal.

But he couldn’t deny that he deliberately said so earlier, feigning discomfort to earn An Lin’s sympathy.

Seeing her worriedly furrow her brow, a tiny wave of guilt and a tad of nervousness arose in his heart.

”Just a bit of pain?”

An Lin caught the flaw in his words, her sharp eyes narrowing.

Qin Mu flashed a charming smile, ”An Lin, just help me onto the bed; I’ll lie down for a bit.”

”You got off the bed on your own earlier without help; I don’t see why you need it now.”

An Lin huffed in annoyance, her gaze flickering as she guessed that he had done it on purpose earlier.

”An Lin, it really hurts. Help me check if the wound has healed later.”

Qin Mu showed a pained expression and furrowed his brow to prove he wasn’t lying. An Lin shot him a fierce glance but ultimately softened.

She helped him carefully lie down on the bed.

After Qin Mu settled down, he looked up, not forgetting what he said earlier, ”An Lin, help me check.”

”No way.”

Frowning, An Lin wasn’t unwilling; she just didn’t want to see the wound on his back, which made her uncomfortable.

Qin Mu seemed to see through her thoughts, his lips curving into a doting smile. His well-defined hand held hers firmly, not letting her struggle free.

”An Lin, give me my phone.”

”How can I get your phone if you don’t let go?”

An Lin looked frustrated.

”Use your other hand.”

Qin Mu chuckled softly, ”Don’t be angry; it’s not good for the baby.”

An Lin rolled her eyes, taking out the phone for him. Qin Mu initially didn’t intend to let go of her hand, but that’s when the door swung open.

Gu Kai’s cheerful voice came from the doorway, ”Ah Mu, An Lin, huh, are we interrupting your sweet talk?”

Hearing the voice, An Lin turned her head toward the door.

She saw Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi enter, fingers interlocked. Qin Mu, lying on the bed, also turned his head to look.

Gu Kai, holding Bai Yiyi’s hand, walked briskly to the bedside, his long eyes scanning over Qin Mu’s back, finally settling on his handsome face, ”Looks like the wound is healing well.”

”Weren’t you two on your honeymoon? Why are you back?”

Qin Mu glanced at Bai Yiyi, questioning Gu Kai.

An Lin withdrew her hand, stood up, and greeted Bai Yiyi, ”Yiyi, when did you get back?”

”We just got off the plane and came straight to the hospital without even going home.”

Bai Yiyi smiled, her tone light and joyful. After not seeing each other for over ten days, her belly seemed even more noticeable.

Seeing An Lin glance at her stomach, Bai Yiyi’s smile deepened, and she also glanced at An Lin’s belly, ”An Lin, in a while, you’ll be just like me.”

”Let’s chat outside.”

An Lin looked back at Qin Mu and Gu Kai. With Gu Kai around, she was not worried about Qin Mu’s condition. She pulled Bai Yiyi out of the ward for a chat.

Gu Kai pulled up a chair, sitting by the bedside.

Leaning slightly forward, he looked at Qin Mu, ”Ah Mu, how’s the wound healing?”

”It’s doing well.”

Qin Mu said, unlocking his phone to make a call, ”I’ll call my mom first and talk later.”

”Why the urgency to call auntie?”

Gu Kai asked with amusement.

Qin Mu smiled wryly, ”It wasn’t urgent, but just this morning, my mom insisted on taking An Lin for a prenatal checkup.”

Gu Kai’s brows furrowed slightly, a thought crossing his mind, and he suddenly understood, responding, ”Could it be that auntie is upset about An Lin’s pregnancy?”

”To be precise, she’s upset because I lied last time. She even scolded An Lin. Do you think I shouldn’t hurry to call and clear things up?”

Qin Mu sighed and shook his head, making Gu Kai laugh, ”You’re just reaping what you sow.”

”Can’t you speak like a normal person?”

Qin Mu shot him a glare, dialed his mom’s number.

Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, ”I’m speaking plainly. You made the mistake; let An Lin take the blame. You should explain it clearly.”

Outside the ward, Bai Yiyi and An Lin reached a nearby lounge area.

They sat down on a bench, and Bai Yiyi apologized, ”An Lin, I’m sorry. If it weren’t for Ah Kai dragging me off to elope, you and Qin Mu wouldn’t have taken our place, and maybe Qin Mu wouldn’t be hurt.”

”You’re so silly.” An Lin chided her, ”Yao Dewei hates me and Ah Mu. Even if you and Ah Kai hadn’t left G City, he would have found a way to get back at us.”

”But Qin Mu got hurt at the church. The moment I heard that, I felt so guilty.”

Bai Yiyi originally intended to return immediately.

But Gu Kai said his dad was performing the surgery, and Qin Mu was in no danger, just needed good rest.

By returning, they couldn’t really help, and Jerry was so hospitable, so in the end, she agreed to stay in Country M a few more days.

An Lin said gently, ”When it’s destined, you can’t avoid it. How can this be your and Ah Kai’s fault?”
