Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1582: 1581 does not want to bear other charges anymore

The next day, An Lin, accompanied by Mother Qin, went for a maternity check-up.

When she heard the doctor mention the pregnancy timeline, which was different from what Qin Mu had told her, Mother Qin widened her eyes in surprise.

“Doctor, are you sure? Our An Lin should be nearly four months pregnant now. Could it be because the baby is too small…”

“Mrs. Qin, we wouldn’t make a mistake.”

Her words were interrupted by the doctor.

Mother Qin glanced at An Lin lying there, and without waiting for her to speak, she left the ultrasound room.

“…”

An Lin’s lips moved, and the words of explanation lingered at the tip of her tongue, unable to come out.

Seeing Mother Qin walk out displeased, she pursed her lips and cursed Qin Mu in her heart.

“An Lin, what happened during the maternity check-up just now?”

As they left the obstetrics department and on the way back to Qin Mu’s hospital room, Mother Qin, not very pleased, asked An Lin.

An Lin pressed the elevator button first, and while waiting, she apologetically said, “Mom, I’m sorry. When Ah Mu told you I was pregnant, he was actually lying.”

“Ah Mu was lying?”

Mother Qin, who had been watching the elevator floor numbers, turned her head in surprise upon hearing An Lin’s words, looking at her with a changed expression as her displeasure deepened.

An Lin called out, “Mom.”

“How could you lie about something so important?”

Mother Qin angrily questioned An Lin, knowing full well how much they, as elders, were longing for a grandchild.

When she heard Qin Mu say An Lin was pregnant, she was overjoyed, repeatedly reminding them to be careful and telling Qin Mu to take good care of her.

“Mom, I’m sorry, I also…”

“An Lin, ever since you married Ah Mu, although we have been hoping every day for a grandchild, hoping for you to be pregnant, we never pressured you, did we?”

“No.”

“Then why did you go along with Ah Mu’s nonsense? He said you were pregnant, and you didn’t explain. You even went to City C by yourself, and I scolded Ah Mu harshly, forcing him to go and take care of you…”

The more Mother Qin spoke, the angrier she became, counting all the concerns she had when she thought An Lin was pregnant.

An Lin just listened quietly, not refuting.

But in her heart, she cursed Qin Mu dozens of times.

The elevator door opened, and Mother Qin stopped speaking. After the others went out, it was just the two of them who went in. After the door closed, An Lin thought Mother Qin would continue the topic.

But she didn’t.

Silence ensued.

When the elevator reached the VIP floor where Qin Mu was staying, Mother Qin didn’t get off with her.

“An Lin, you go find Ah Mu. I won’t be going.”

“Mom…”

An Lin turned around just in time to see Mother Qin closing the elevator door, and her words were cut off with the closing door.

An Lin returned to the ward door, just about to raise her hand to open it, when the door was opened from the inside.

Qin Mu’s slightly thin figure stood at the door, with a nurse supporting him by his side.

Seeing her return, Qin Mu’s eyes lit up, and he smiled, “An Lin, you’re back!”

“Where’s Mom, isn’t she coming back with you?”

He peeked behind her, not seeing his mother’s figure, and the smile on Qin Mu’s face turned into confusion.

An Lin walked into the ward and reached out to support him.

“You can leave first. We’ll call you if anything is needed.”

Once Qin Mu was supported by An Lin, he immediately had the nurse leave.

The nurse left the room, considerately closing the door for them. An Lin helped Qin Mu back to the bed, letting him lie back down.

“An Lin, was our mom angry at you?”

Qin Mu had been observing An Lin’s expression, noticing that her mood didn’t seem very good.

An Lin rolled her eyes, tossed her bag on another bed, turned around to pour herself some water, and didn’t hurry to respond to Qin Mu’s question.

Her silence made Qin Mu frown.

He could only guess at his mother’s possible reaction and the possible reasons for An Lin’s attitude.

“An Lin, what did my mom say to you? Tell me, I’ll go and explain it to her.”

“Didn’t you say your mom wouldn’t be angry?”

An Lin glared at him, lay on her own bed, grabbed a pillow, and stuffed it behind her back. The resentment in her heart was gradually surfacing.

Thinking about how she was scolded just now on his behalf, she was not happy.

She had heard people say before that the relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is subtle and had heard her colleagues at work complain about how unreasonable their mothers-in-law were.

How protective they were of their sons and harsh on their daughters-in-law—she had never taken it seriously.

When she married Qin Mu, although An Lin wasn’t very willing, it was because they were not in love at that time.

Marrying into the Qin family and becoming the daughter-in-law of Father Qin and Mother Qin, An Lin felt she was fortunate. Since she was a child, they had watched her grow up.

Mother Qin has always been good to her.

“An Lin, what on earth did my mom say? You have to tell me so I know.”

The less An Lin spoke, the more worried Qin Mu became.

He pressed his thin lips together, then lifted the quilt, got out of bed, and walked over to her bed in a few steps.

“Didn’t you tell my mom that I was the one who lied back then?”

Qin Mu stared at An Lin, reaching out to hold her hand.

An Lin glanced at him, then shook off his hand, “I told her it was you who lied, but Mom asked why I didn’t explain when you lied.”

“Where’s my mom now, could she still be in obstetrics?”

Qin Mu’s mouth twitched. He reached out again to hold An Lin’s hand. This time, he gripped it tightly, not allowing her to struggle, holding it firmly in his palm.

Whether it’s due to pregnant women having bad tempers and feeling more aggrieved, or for other reasons, An Lin just felt sulky.

This man’s lie about her being pregnant was something she had considered explaining.

However, every time she tried to explain, it was interrupted by Qin Mu.

Now, being scolded by her mother-in-law, her mood couldn’t be worse.

“Mom took me to the upper floor and said she wouldn’t come, so she took the elevator back downstairs.” An Lin didn’t look at Qin Mu, leaning wearily against the headboard, her eyes slightly closed as she looked at her hand being held by him.

“I’m going to call Mom now and tell her this has nothing to do with you.”

“You better not.”

An Lin’s expression changed as she hurried to stop him.

Qin Mu looked at her in confusion, “Why?”

“Mom’s still angry. If you call now to explain, she might think I complained to you, and I don’t want to take any more blame.”

An Lin’s tone was tough, and Qin Mu paused for a second before gently comforting her, “An Lin, don’t worry, this is my lie, and you shouldn’t bear the blame for me.”

After Qin Mu finished, he let go of An Lin and went to get his phone.

An Lin saw his firm attitude, opened her mouth to say something but held back. However, before Qin Mu could make a call, her own phone started ringing first.

Hearing the ringtone, Qin Mu paused in making the call and turned to look at her.

An Lin glanced at the incoming call, frowning slightly, “It’s my mom calling.”

“Let me take it.”

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered, then he turned to walk towards her again.
