Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1540: 1539 I like you

An Lin pursed her lips, no longer speaking.

Beside her, Jinchen leaned over and handed a tissue to Feng Wanfeng. “Mom, don’t cry anymore, I will protect you from now on.”

Feng Wanfeng was already sad, and hearing her son’s comforting words made her cry even harder.

Looking at the sensible Jinchen, An Lin suddenly felt a heavy block in her heart, feeling very uncomfortable.

After lunch, An Lin asked Feng Wanfeng where she was staying and how long she planned to stay in City C.

Feng Wanfeng answered, “I plan to sell the villa in A City. Linlin, are you staying in City C all the time and not going back to A City?”

“My job is here, so naturally I will stay here,” An Lin replied with a slightly indifferent tone.

“How about I be your neighbor?”

Feng Wanfeng said cautiously, looking at An Lin with anticipation and some fear of being rejected, “Jinchen really likes you, An Lin. I promise I will never help Yao Dewei hurt you again in the future.”

An Lin said nothing, as if she was considering it.

Feng Wanfeng pressed her lips together and continued, “Because of Yao Dewei’s matter, Jinchen is looked down upon by other kids at school. He doesn’t want to go to school, and I want to change the environment for him, and also start a new life for myself.”

An Lin looked at Qin Mu, seeking his opinion with her gaze. Qin Mu held her hand under the table and said softly, “Then you all should stay in City C.”

The apartment Feng Wanfeng bought was the one below An Lin’s. The original owner had lived there for a month before moving abroad. It was a beautifully renovated place with a cleaning service, so she and her son could move in with just their bags.

In the evening, An Lin was leaning against the headboard reading a book, and Qin Mu was sitting on the sofa talking on the phone with Tang Yang.

The room was warmly lit, creating a very cozy atmosphere.

She looked up from the magazine towards the man on the sofa. Whether by coincidence or Qin Mu sensing her gaze instantly, he looked up at her too.

Their eyes met, causing a slight tremor in An Lin’s heart. She lowered her head again and continued reading.

Qin Mu’s gaze didn’t move away, just lingering on her serene and beautiful face. “Yang, just come to City C. Call me before you board. I’ll hang up now.”

After ending the call, Qin Mu left the sofa, got into bed, and took the magazine from An Lin’s hands, pulling her into his arms.

“Is Tang Yang coming to City C?”

Perhaps she had grown accustomed to Qin Mu’s gentle and intimate gestures over these days, An Lin did not resist, leaning against him, their bodies snugly fitting together.

Qin Mu looked down at her, “Yes, he heard that Feng Wanfeng will be staying in City C for the long term, so he said he is coming to City C tomorrow.”

“I really don’t get it, how could my cousin be so blind, ignoring someone as good as Tang Yang and instead falling for Yao Dewei’s poison.”

An Lin said gloomily.

Qin Mu chuckled softly, “These things are hard for outsiders to understand. What you said at noon, Feng Wanfeng surely knows better than anyone.”

“What things?”

An Lin raised her eyes to look at Qin Mu.

She had said so much that she wasn’t sure which part he was referring to.

Qin Mu caught her hand with his other hand, wrapping them in his palm, and spoke gently, “That Yao Dewei doesn’t love her and had a child with his first love. Feng Wanfeng surely knows about it.”

An Lin suddenly didn’t want to speak anymore.

“Let’s sleep.”

“An Lin.”

Qin Mu looked at her with a slight frown, not understanding why her mood suddenly turned downcast.

“I’m tired.”

An Lin said, sliding her body down to lie on the bed. Qin Mu’s eyes twitched slightly, and he also lay down, turning to hold her in his arms, “An Lin, let’s have a child.”

An Lin’s body stiffened slightly.

During this period, Qin Mu hadn’t brought up this topic again.

Though he held her in his arms every night, it was limited to that. As promised, he had never forced her to fulfill any marital duties.

She wasn’t unaware of his desires.

Yet they managed to just purely sleep together.

At this moment, the warmth of his breath wafted by her ear, his husky voice drilling into her ear, causing her heartbeat to lose its rhythm.

“An Lin, you are not Feng Wanfeng, and I am not Yao Dewei.”

Qin Mu’s words transformed into an invisible hand brushing across An Lin’s heart, replacing her discomfort with a complex and indescribable feeling. Though her body remained stiff, somewhere in her subconscious, she began to believe him a little.

“An Lin, about that cold last time, I did it on purpose.”

Seeing her silence, Qin Mu made no further moves, just holding her quietly. After a while, he softly said, “I caught that cold on purpose.”

An Lin turned her head in shock.

That night, she had indeed felt a flicker of doubt in her heart, but it was only for a moment.

“You caught a cold on purpose?”

Qin Mu nodded, a gentle smile curving at the corners of his lips, responding in an off-topic manner, “I don’t know how to coax women, nor do I know how to please them either.”

An Lin pursed her lips, gazing steadily at him.

Qin Mu’s eyes were clear and forthright, “An Lin, I said before, I’ve fallen for you, but you didn’t believe me. Tonight, I want to say it again, I like you.”

An Lin’s eyes wavered with some emotion, her long lashes covering the feelings in her gaze.

Qin Mu bent down, placing a kiss on her forehead, his voice husky and low, “It’s normal that you don’t believe me. But, we have decades ahead, and I will prove it to you.”

An Lin felt a tinge of sourness in her nose.

It wasn’t that she didn’t believe, but she was afraid of being hurt again.

Previously, when Qin Mu didn’t like her, he hurt her, and she already felt heartbroken.

If his claimed affection now was merely in pursuit of her forgiveness without genuine sincerity, she feared she might truly be too scared to love again.

Many years later, An Lin still remembered the words Qin Mu said that night, ‘We have decades ahead, and I will prove it to you.’
