Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1436: 1435 Bai Xiaoxiao said: He also came

Mo Xiuchen reluctantly moved his hand away and handed the phone to Wen Ran, his deep and calm voice escaping his thin lips, “It’s Xiaoxiao calling.”

“Oh, Xiaoxiao is calling?”

Upon hearing it was Bai Xiaoxiao, Wen Ran’s eyes lit up with excitement.

She sat up suddenly, causing Mo Xiuchen to frown, “Take it easy, isn’t your stomach hurting?”

“Not anymore. It was just a slight discomfort, not really pain.” Wen Ran met Mo Xiuchen’s deeply affectionate eyes, feeling both touched and warm inside.

Gu Kai shook his head helplessly, unable to do anything about it, and lifted the blanket to get out of bed, “You take the call, I’ll go next door to check on the three kids.”

Wen Ran smiled at him and nodded, her slender fingers pressed the answer key as she cheerfully spoke, “Hello, Xiaoxiao.”

“Ranran, am I interrupting your passionate moments with Mo Xiuchen?” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was equally cheerful and playful, traveling all the way across the Pacific Ocean.

“Oh, come on, my relatives are over, how could we be having any passionate moments? You haven’t called me for so long, did you find a handsome guy abroad and got caught up in romance?”

Wen Ran playfully retorted.

Hearing this, Bai Xiaoxiao laughed on the other side of the Pacific, “Ranran, I’ve got some good news for you, I closed a huge deal today and the contract has been signed…”

“Congratulations, congratulations, Xiaoxiao, you’ve become quite the career woman now.”

Wen Ran was truly happy for Bai Xiaoxiao. It’s said that when God closes a door, he opens a window, and that’s certainly true.

Bai Xiaoxiao might have failed in matters of the heart, but in her career, she’s quite successful now.

In the past two years abroad, she’s not only managed to graduate early through her own efforts but also expanded their company’s business overseas.

“Ranran, I’m not a career woman, just got lucky. For this deal, Meng Ke helped me quite a bit.”

“Meng Ke?”

Wen Ran leaned against the headboard, picked up a pillow, and hugged it, a hint of curiosity appearing in her eyes.

“Yes, it’s hard to explain quickly, Ranran, I’ll tell you slowly when I’m back home.”

“When will you be back?”

Wen Ran’s voice carried a hint of complaint; it seemed Bai Xiaoxiao had no intention of returning from abroad.

She was supposed to come back before the end of the year, but then she decided to expand their company’s business to D Country and stayed there.

“A few more months, but I will definitely be back this year. Ranran, how are my dad and mom? Every time I call, they say they’re fine, and Meng Ke says they’re fine too.”

Bai Xiaoxiao was skeptical of their words. Last night, when she called home, she seemed to hear her dad mentioning taking medicine.

Wen Ran laughed and said, “Aunt Qiao and Uncle Bai are very healthy, don’t overthink abroad. If you’re not confident or don’t believe it, come and see for yourself.”

“Oh, come on, if I could get home in a few minutes or hours, I would have been back by now. I just signed the contract here, so I won’t be able to return for the coming months. Ranran, are you still on vacation away from home?”

“Yes, I’m still away.” Wen Ran paused and added, “I’ll go see Aunt Qiao when I get back in a couple of days, and I’ll call you then.”

“Ranran, you’re always the best.”

Bai Xiaoxiao immediately buttered up.

“I’m not that good. If you really want to thank me, just be honest and tell me when Meng Ke came to see you again?” Wen Ran smiled slyly, teasingly.

On the other end of the line, Bai Xiaoxiao fell silent for a moment, and when her voice emerged again, a hint of emotion seeped in; it seemed both conflicted and subtly melancholic.

Even though Wen Ran couldn’t see Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression, she could sense the shift in her mood from her voice.

“Ranran, Meng Ke came to D Country a week ago.”

“A week ago, so he specifically went to spend the Spring Festival with you?” Wen Ran’s voice held a trace of surprise; she knew Meng Ke visited Bai Xiaoxiao every so often.

She didn’t expect that he would go to spend the Spring Festival with her.

From Bai Xiaoxiao’s tone, it seemed she was touched by Meng Ke’s gesture.

“Yes, he spent the Spring Festival here with me.” Meng Ke spent the Spring Festival with Bai Xiaoxiao, and she should have been happy. But her voice lacked joy.

On the contrary, it seemed weighted down with a sorrow that couldn’t be dispelled.

Wen Ran heard it and her heart tightened slightly, “Xiaoxiao, Meng Ke treats you so well, you might consider…”

“Ranran, he also came.”

Wen Ran was interrupted by Bai Xiaoxiao’s urgent tone, as if fearing Wen Ran would suggest she consider Meng Ke and encourage her to be with him.

If Wen Ran was surprised by Meng Ke going to spend the Spring Festival with Bai Xiaoxiao, then she was absolutely speechless upon hearing that Luo Haofeng also went to D Country.

Last time, Mo Xiuchen mentioned Luo Haofeng was on a business trip to D Country. At the time, Wen Ran felt like Luo Haofeng was probably visiting Bai Xiaoxiao.

Considering their relationship, Wen Ran didn’t ask Bai Xiaoxiao about it.

Unexpectedly, Bai Xiaoxiao took the initiative to tell her. It seemed that Xiaoxiao made this call just for this matter.

Wen Ran was silent for a few seconds before softly asking, “Xiaoxiao, Luo Haofeng also went to D Country to see you?”

She felt her question was a bit foolish once she asked it.

Luo Haofeng surely went to see Bai Xiaoxiao; otherwise, why would she mention Luo Haofeng?

“Yes, he came to see me, ran into Meng Ke, and then he left.” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was laden with dense sorrow.

Wen Ran listened to Bai Xiaoxiao’s words, her eyebrows gently furrowing, “Xiaoxiao, haven’t you forgotten him?”

As Bai Xiaoxiao’s best friend, Wen Ran genuinely hoped that she could forget Luo Haofeng.

At first, Bai Xiaoxiao was obsessed with Xiao Yuting for over a decade before letting go, and logically, she wasn’t with Luo Haofeng nearly as long as she liked Xiao Yuting.

Yet she couldn’t let Luo Haofeng go.

This was perhaps what people would call a fated misfortune.

“Ranran, I’m afraid this might be a lifelong wound, and it will never heal.” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice suddenly infused with a tinge of melancholy.

It must be hurting so much she couldn’t bear it, so she spoke with Wen Ran across the Pacific like this.

Most of the time, she was forcing a smile to avoid worrying friends and family. Wen Ran felt her heart tugged painfully at her words, “Xiaoxiao, even the deepest wound will have a day when it heals; whether you want to forget it or not is your choice, not something impossible to forget.”

Wen Ran felt conflicted inside.

On one hand, she hoped Bai Xiaoxiao would forget Luo Haofeng and be with the loving Meng Ke. Just like her mom and dad, they could be happy together.

But on the other hand, she hoped Xiaoxiao could be with the man she loved. After all, she and Luo Haofeng had mutual feelings, just separated by the grudges of the previous generation!
