Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 625: 624, have you been brainwashed?

“Xiuchen, how is Wen Ran doing? You went abroad with her this time for her treatment, right? After all, she was drugged by Fu Jingyi for several years, her condition can’t just magically improve right away. Maybe you should return home…”

Mo Xiuchen’s face fell; he sternly cut him off, “Dad, you don’t need to worry about these things. If there’s nothing else, I’m going to hang up. I have things to do.”

“Xiuchen, I just want to check in on you and Wen Ran. After you left, Zixuan took over the company. Now that I have some time, I’m thinking about buying a plane ticket to visit you two.”

Mo Jingteng spoke hesitantly. Of course, he didn’t genuinely care about Wen Ran. His suggestion of visiting them was merely a ploy to squeeze information out of Mo Xiuchen, to uncover the truth behind their stay in A City.

“No need to. We’ll be coming back in a few days.” As expected, Mo Xiuchen had to find a justifiable reason to prevent Mo Jingteng from flying overseas.

But he didn’t mention that he and Wen Ran had already returned home, feeling that there was no need to inform Mo Jingteng. After all, they were never tight-knit father and son.

With a clearer picture in his mind, Mo Jingteng chose not to continue the topic, but simply asked Mo Xiuchen to call him once he returned to G city.

After ending the call, Mo Xiuchen pondered for several minutes, then picked up his pen and notes again, placing them on his knee. His upright figure leant against the sofa, his fingers flew across the keyboard.

After staying in A City for ten days, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran finally planned to return to G City.

The night Xiaoxiao received a call from her mother, she immediately contacted her father. After some persuading, Mr Bai, who always doted on his daughter, agreed to reason with Xiaoxiao’s mother.

Having finished her work, Xiaoxiao spent a few relaxing days with Wen Ran. The two of them played around and kept Mo Xiuchen and Luo Haofeng from accompanying them. This gave the guys some free time for themselves.

Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran revisited the beauty clinic that Luo Haofeng had introduced to them.

“Miss, our beauty salon is different from the others, all our products are developed by authoritative experts using pure traditional Chinese medicine [TCM]…”

Listening to the staff’s introduction, Wen Ran only smiled without saying a word. Of course, she knew their skincare products carried a herbal scent. As for their effectiveness, they surely couldn’t be as exaggerated and miraculous as claimed.

Present day beauty skincare products, cosmetics either claim to be pure natural plants or pure TCM etcetera, But these are merely marketing strategies to attract users and unlikely to give one eternal youth.

Before leaving, Wen Ran went to the restroom. In the cubicle, she overheard someone else’s phone conversation.

At first, she didn’t pay attention, but when she heard the person on the phone calling someone on the other end, her heart skipped a beat, and she started listening intently.

“Please thank Professor Fu for me…”

The woman on the phone was not revealing any secrets, but Wen Ran associated the word ‘Professor Fu’ with another person named Fu, Fu Jingyi!

This association seemed strange to her, but nevertheless, it made her heart pound faster.

“Professor Fu’s business is my business, no need for formalities.”

The woman’s voice was very charming and her tone was pleasant. After a moment, she added, “Mrs. Fu and Miss Bai are both well, um, a while ago, Miss Bai came before her trip…”

Wen Ran wasn’t certain what the person on the other end of the line replied, but the woman added, “Professor Fu need not worry about domestic matters, just concentrate on developing the products I want, and leave the rest to our family’s old Liao.”

Wen Ran squatted in the cubicle, waiting until the woman outside had finished the call, and listened as she left the restroom before finally allowing herself to exhale deeply.

After coming out of the cubicle, Wen Ran washed her hands but didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she stood in front of the mirror, lost in thought.

She recalled the staff introducing the skincare products stating that they were based on pure TCM. The mentioning of pure TCM again sparked her thoughts about ‘Professor Fu’, wondering if it could mean Fu Jingyi.

Although such a guess seemed a bit far-fetched, her emotions were stirred.

If this was true, her mind drifted back to when Luo Haofeng had suggested visiting the beauty salon. Mo Xiuchen raised his eyebrows at once and looked at Luo Haofeng with displeasure.

He had said later that if he wasn’t at ease, they should go together.

It was only a trip to the beauty salon. What’s there to be worried about?

With a hand rubbing her temple, she tried to sort out the information pertaining to the beauty salon. If she didn’t remember wrongly, the last name of the owner of this salon was ‘Qin’, and her younger brother was Deputy Director Qin Sen, whom she had encountered at the police station…

“Ranran, what took you so long? If you don’t come out, I’m going in to look for you.”

When Wen Ran came out of the restroom, Bai Xiaoxiao had just exited the VIP lounge. Seeing her, she immediately complained.

“Xiaoxiao, I want to apply for a VIP card, also, purchase some products for home use.”

Wen Ran did not explain why she had spent so long in the restroom, but conveyed her intentions. Bai Xiaoxiao widened her eyes in surprise, “Ranran, are you brainwashed?”

They were to return to G City tomorrow and doubted the benefit of having a VIP card. Unless they fly to A City every now and then, which seemed absurd.

Wen Ran’s face was calm, her eyes clear as water. Hearing Bai Xiaoxiao’s teasing, she did not respond but turned around and walked toward the front desk.

Bai Xiaoxiao opened her mouth, seeing Wen Ran head to apply for a card, she followed her over.

After leaving the beauty salon, there were two bags in Wen Ran’s hands. Bai Xiaoxiao, too, had been coerced into holding two bags in her hands.

They were full of various products; Wen Ran bought nearly all of the products in the beauty salon.

“Ranran, Mo Xiuchen is currently jobless, are you not afraid of spending him into bankruptcy?”

Bai Xiaoxiao glanced at the bags she was holding, then looked at Wen Ran and joked. A cloud of doubt enveloped her. Ranran was either brainwashed or feverish.

She had never seen her buy products so recklessly. Besides, earlier when the staff were introducing products to them, she had a vague smile and showed no interest.

Wen Ran only smiled faintly, saying nonchalantly, “Money is just worldly goods. If we spend it all, he can just earn more.”

Bai Xiaoxiao laughed, looking at her as if she didn’t recognize her,” Ranran, are you the Wen Ran I know? Couldn’t be that going to the restroom for just a while could brainwash you, or could something have possessed you? Hey, please don’t scare me!”
