Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 605: What are the results of 604?

Every minute and second of waiting for the results was torture for Wen Ran.

She refrained from showing her nervousness, striving hard to keep her worries internal. However, her facial expression was much more rigid than usual, somehow betraying her fear.

After lunch, Mo Xiuchen held her hand and took her for a walk while showing her the bridal shop he had chosen. To her surprise, she found no interest in her long-awaited wish.

“Ranran, are you tired?”

Noticing her mood, Mo Xiuchen spoke in a gentle tone, “We are not photographing today. Don’t worry; we are just taking a look and choosing the theme.”

“Xiuchen, I want to go back to our country for the photoshoot!”

Wen Ran suddenly suggested after briefly pressing her lips together.

A slight bewilderment flashed in Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes, but he didn’t ask why. Instead, he smiled and nodded, “Okay, let’s choose the studio when we go back home. Is there anywhere else you would like to visit now?”

“Let’s go to a movie!”

They just happened to pass by a cinema at that moment, and Wen Ran spontaneously proposed as she saw the movie listings.

“Gone with the Wind?”

Mo Xiuchen followed her line of sight and his gaze lingered on the title and the poster of “Gone with the Wind.” Wen Ran smiled softly; she was delighted that their thoughts matched. “Yeah, shall we go and watch ‘Gone with the Wind’?”

“Won’t you fall asleep in the theater?”

Mo Xiuchen teased her.

Wen Ran, with a glare at him, firmly declared: “Guaranteed not! I really like this movie; I have watched it several times when I read the novel.”

“Okay!”

Accepting her proposal, Mo Xiuchen went to buy tickets. After purchasing the tickets, he also bought popcorn and drinks for her. The two of them sitting in the VIP couple’s box, watching the movie, munching on popcorn, and sipping drinks was indeed a very romantic affair.

Unfortunately, neither of them was engrossed in the movie; instead, they were preoccupied with their own thoughts.

Wen Ran was worried about her medical report. If the past few days of treatment produced no effect and made her condition worse instead, she wasn’t sure if she would have the courage to let Mo Xiuchen continue to accompany her.

Or to put it another way, she doubted if she had the courage to stay with him.

Mo Xiuchen, on the other hand, was intently gazing at Wen Ran beside him, as if he wanted to keep a permanent memory of her in his heart, not to forget her in this lifetime or the next.

**

Just as the movie was nearing its end, Mo Xiuchen’s phone rang. It was a call from Gu Yan.

Having glanced at the display, Mo Xiuchen quietly told Wen Ran, “Ranran, it’s a call from Dad. I will go out to answer it and come back in.”

Wen Ran turned her head and looked at the phone in his hand. “Okay, go ahead. I will wait for you here.”

Though she was not absorbed in the movie, she didn’t want to accompany him out this time and risk overhearing the results from her father.

Deep inside, she scorned herself ruthlessly. ‘Wen Ran, you are nothing more than a coward. You talk about not fearing death, but in reality, you are the most fearful of them all.’

Mo Xiuchen kissed her forehead before taking his phone and exiting the box to answer the call.

“Xiuchen, the results are out.” The voice from Gu Yan on the other end of the call seeped into Mo Xiuchen’s ear with a mix of complicated emotions. Tightening his lips subconsciously, he took a deep breath before asking, “Dad, what’s the outcome? Is Ranran okay?”

Despite the slightly slower speech, Mo Xiuchen’s voice remained steady. His handsome face looked as calm as ever, with only the hand holding the phone revealing his anxiety by gripping it a little too tightly.

“Yes, Ranran is fine now.”

Initially, this was meant to be delightful news.

But Gu Yan’s heart felt incredibly heavy as he delivered it. Mo Xiuchen could not see his expression over the phone, and vice versa.

On hearing these words, a sense of warmth instantly filled Mo Xiuchen’s heart. “Dad, does this mean that all of Ranran’s health checkups reflect a healthy status now? Does that mean she doesn’t have any problem now and that in the future, she could…”

Mo Xiuchen cut his speech short, leaving his sentence hanging. There was a pause from Gu Yan who quickly understood Mo Xiuchen’s implication and replied, “Yes, Xiuchen, you are right. Ranran is very healthy now. Not only has the toxin from her body vanished, she can also have her own children in the future.”

“That’s great.”

The sun that was hidden behind the clouds unexpectedly emerged, cascading golden rays down from the sky. A halo surrounded Mo Xiuchen, illuminating his refined and stunning face. His lips curled up in a gratifying smile as he gently mouthed two words.

Ranran is fine now.

That’s wonderful!

For a moment, he even felt the urge to thank Fu Jingyi for the call and the advice he had given. As long as Ranran was healthy, nothing else mattered.

Standing in the sun, his gaze drawn to the distant horizon, he was quietly listening to what Gu Yan continued to say over the phone while occasionally responding.

After hanging up the call, he didn’t immediately return to the box. After putting his phone back in his pocket, he instinctively reached for a cigarette. As he was about to light one, he suddenly remembered what Ranran had said that night.

He stopped halfway and put the half-drawn cigarette back in the pack.

Initially, he had thrown away his cigarettes and lighter, but this morning, Gu Yan had given him a new pack.

As he clutched the cigarette pack in his hand, his eyes reflected a storm of emotions. His heart was in turmoil just like the changing cloud formations, a wave of emotions hit him, and then, all evaporated into nothing.

Inside the box, Wen Ran had been waiting for a long time. Seeing no sign of Mo Xiuchen, her heart began to flutter with concern. Eventually, losing patience, she got up and left her seat.

“Xiuchen!”

Regaining his composure, Mo Xiuchen turned around only to find Wen Ran coming out from the movie theatre. Her clear eyes mirrored a body of water, shimmering with a blend of anticipation and anxiety.

“Ranran, why did you come out?”

Initially startled, Mo Xiuchen quickly regained his composure. With a smile, he reached out, pulling her into his arms. Feeling her stiffen slightly at the contact, a pang of pain surged through his heart.

However, his words in her ear were filled with excitement and joy, “Ranran, I have a piece of good news for you.”

Her heart did a flip, and she lifted her head to look at him, her eyes glistening brightly as she asked, “Xiuchen, what good news? Has the treatment been effective these past few days?”

Asking this question made her heart pound even more. Looking at the gentle smile on Mo Xiuchen’s face and the visible excitement and joy in his deep-set eyes, she anticipated his response.

He nodded deeply, his voice brimming with happiness and emotion, “Ranran, your sufferings these few days have not been in vain. Only a negligible amount of toxin remains in your body now. This will not affect your health, and we can go back home now.”

“Really?”

Wen Ran’s eyes widened in disbelief, shimmering brightly.

Haven’t Fu Jingyi mentioned that even her father could not cure her? How was it so easy that the virus inside her body was cleansed just within a few days?
