From the moment Wen Ran entered, Mo Xiuchen was anxious.

As soon as his voice fell, the door of the ward opened.

“Ah Kai, let’s go.”

Seeing Wen Ran come out, Mo Xiuchen’s eyes brightened. He spoke to Gu Kai beside him, tossed the half-smoked cigarette into the nearby trash bin, and strode towards Wen Ran.

“Ranran, have you finished talking with your brother?”

Mo Xiuchen, tall and imposing, stopped in front of Wen Ran. His deep eyes were trained on her, noticing her reddened eyes. She had clearly been crying.

A twinge of anxiety hit him, prompting him to reach for her hand.

Wen Ran didn’t avoid him. She let his broad palm envelop her hand, the warmth from his hand slowly seeping into hers. The warmth penetrated her skin and spread to her heart.

“Why didn’t you go to the company?”

She responded with a question of her own. Earlier, she told her brother she wanted to have a private chat with him, hoping Mo Xiuchen would return to work, but she forgot to mention it.

Mo Xiuchen gave a faint smile, speaking gently, “I delegated some tasks to Ah Feng and Ah Mu. The company will be fine without me for a short while.”

Wen Ran’s gaze moved from his face to Gu Kai standing beside him. His handsome face held a gentle smile. His eyes as warm as spring.

“Brother has told me everything.”

She spoke indifferently, but Gu Kai’s eyes slightly tightened. “Let’s discuss it inside.”

“Okay!”

Wen Ran nodded; Mo Xiuchen held her hand as they walked into the ward. Gu Kai followed. Inside, Wen Jin leaned against the head of the bed. He glanced at Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai, and opened his mouth to speak.” Ranran, if there are any parts you don’t understand, you can ask Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai. They know more about this than I do.”

He was referring to the incident of Wen Ran being taken as a child and her saving Mo Xiuchen thereafter.

In that regard, he didn’t know as much as they did.

Mo Xiuchen met Wen Jin’s gaze and instantly understood what he meant. He turned to look at Gu Kai, who nodded lightly and said in a gentle voice, “Ranran, the incident of your childhood isn’t something I can explain in a sentence or two. If you’re willing, come home with me. I’ll explain everything to you slowly, okay?”

Wen Ran blinked in surprise and looked up at Gu Kai.

The word ‘home’ stirred a sense of unfamiliarity and unease in her.

Gu Kai smiled warmly, trying to sound as casual as he could, “We have many photos from your childhood and our family. I’m sure you have no idea how adorable you were as a child. Why don’t you come home with me and take a look?

“I….”

She hesitated. Seeing this, Wen Jin felt a twinge of pain, “Ranran, go with your brother. See how things are at his place. I’ll be heading to the factory later.”

“Brother, you will always be my brother.”

The sudden words made the three men in the ward pause.

Wen Jin’s eyes welled up. Even seeing Ranran cry before didn’t tug at his heartstrings as much as the passionate and urgent confession she just made.

Gu Kai’s gaze shifted several times, his tall body stiffening slightly.

Wen Jin gave a small smile, beckoning to Wen Ran.

She pulled her hand from Mo Xiuchen’s grip, walked over to the bedside and looked at Wen Jin.

“Ranran, of course I’ll always be your brother. Didn’t I already mention this earlier? Regardless of your true identity, you’ll always be my sister. Now, you just have another brother. Director Gu and Gu Kai never gave up searching for you all these years.”

Wen Jin took Wen Ran’s hand, looking at her with soft and indulgent eyes, full of a brother’s love for his sister. In that moment, his heart was free of distractions.

He looked at Gu Kai standing a few steps away and continued, “Didn’t you say earlier that you hoped Gu Kai would find his sister soon? Now that he has finally found his sister, what if she doesn’t acknowledge him? After all the trouble he’s gone through these years seeking….”

“Brother, it’s not that I don’t want to recognize Older Brother Gu. I’m just not used to it.”

Wen Ran interrupted Wen Jin, defending herself. It wasn’t that she was unwilling to recognize Gu Kai as her brother or accept her identity as the Gu Family’s daughter.

From the moment her parents passed away, she only had her brother. She was afraid that if she acknowledged Gu Kai as her brother, Wen Jin would feel desolate or uncomfortable.

Wen Jin sported a shallow smile, his tone sincere and encouraging, “I know you’re worried about my feelings. But think about it, am I that petty? If you accept him as a brother, I won’t lose you as a sister.”

“It’s okay, Ranran. Just like before, you can call me Older Brother Gu. I’m used to you calling me that,”

Gu Kai initiated the conversation. He knew that it would be hard for Ranran to suddenly change the way she addressed him. Having waited for so many years, he didn’t mind waiting a little longer.

Regardless of how she addressed him, she was his sister. The sister tied to him by blood.

“Ranran, if you don’t feel like going to Ah Kai’s house today, we can visit another day. I don’t have to work today, so I can accompany you wherever you want to go.”

Mo Xiuchen had been quiet for a while, listening to their conversation but couldn’t help interjecting at this point.

Wen Ran shook her head, “Don’t skip work for me. The company has been busy these days, you should go back. I’ll go to Ah Kai’s house.”

As she said this, she turned to Wen Jin, “Brother, I’ll come see you at the factory in the afternoon.”

“Alright, I’ll be waiting for you.”

Wen Jin agreed with a smile. Mo Xiuchen turned towards him, “Mo Xiuchen, do me a favor and drop me off?”

Mo Xiuchen raised an eyebrow, readily agreeing, “No problem, it’s on my way.”

Wen Jin’s smile deepened. “Ranran, it’s getting late. I’ll hitch a ride to the factory with Mo Xiuchen. You should leave with Gu Kai too.”

Mo Xiuchen, standing nearby, added in a gentle voice, “Ranran, call me anytime if something comes up.”

Wen Jin cast a glance at Mo Xiuchen, teasing, “You talk as if Gu Kai will bully Ranran. Mo Xiuchen, be careful from now on. Ranran now has another brother. If you dare to bully her, even if I can’t beat you, Gu Kai will help. You won’t stand a chance.”

Mo Xiuchen cleared his throat and regained his usual arrogance and confidence. “You two will never have the chance to join forces against me for that reason.”

He walked two steps forward, reaching out to assist Wen Jin, “Let’s go, I’ll help you.”

Wen Ran wheeled the wheelchair over. As she watched Mo Xiuchen assist Wen Jin sit on the chair and pass her an encouraging look, the two men left the ward, their voices trailing off into the distance.

In that moment, she felt a sense of disorientation!
