Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 631: Chapter 457: Setting Off for Storm Cape, the Wrath of the Flowing Wind Giant Dragon

He pointed at the roasted lamb on the table.

”This stuff is much tastier than what we get by just tossing it in the fire.”

”I’ve been cooped up in this Giant City-State for thousands of years. My bones are practically rusting. If I didn’t get out and walk around, I’d probably turn into a rock.”

Raylo smiled and sat down across from him.

A flicker of thought crossed Raylo’s eyes.

He spoke, feigning nonchalance.

”The world outside is vast and complex. There are Human Kingdoms like ours, and wildernesses occupied by non-human creatures. Of course, there are also some... more troublesome existences.”

”Oh?”

Gu’s eyebrows rose, his interest clearly piqued.

”For example, a sect that calls itself ’Light.’”

Raylo lowered his voice.

”The Light Holy See?”

Gu mulled over the name, as if searching for something in his distant memories.

”Yes.”

Raylo continued.

”They worship a so-called Light Deity and proclaim themselves his agents in the mortal realm, spreading their doctrine everywhere. They harbor extreme hostility toward all Alien Races who do not believe in their Divine Spirit.”

He looked at Gu and said, word by word.

”Recently, they seem to have set their sights on... Giant Dragons.”

Gu froze. He set down the roasted lamb leg in his hand, and for the first time, a sharp glint flashed in his murky eyes.

The Hill Giants lived in the Giant Dragon Realm, a world where Giant Dragons thrived and propagated, so he was naturally sensitive to those two words.

”They’ve issued a ’kill order’ against Giant Dragons, proclaiming them to be evil creatures that need to be purified. Over the years, quite a few lone Giant Dragons have died tragically at their hands.”

”They’ve created a kind of... War Weapon.”

Raylo said slowly.

”They call it... the ’Angel of Death.’”

”Angel of Death?”

Gu leaned forward slightly, the wrinkles on his face seeming to smooth out a little.

”Yes.”

Raylo nodded.

”It’s a... very cruel thing. They use a Secret Technique to take pious believers or powerful warriors as vessels, forcibly infuse them with so-called Divine Power, and transform them into bird-like War Weapons that have no sense of self and know only how to kill.”

”These weapons can even possess Catastrophe Level Power.”

Gu fell silent.

His murky eyes seemed to pierce through the tent, gazing into the distant unknown.

After a long time, he finally spoke, his voice hoarse.

”Turning living people... into weapons...”

”The reason I invited Otto III of the Blazing Flame Kingdom here is precisely to participate in a war to rescue a Giant Dragon. The Light Holy See’s target this time is the Flowing Wind Giant Dragon of Storm Cape. Furthermore, according to my intelligence, they’ve dispatched two Catastrophe Level experts, one of whom is an ’Angel of Death.’”

Raylo said.

”How interesting.”

Gu looked up at Raylo.

”Good. Very good.”

He picked up his cup again and drained the remaining wine in one gulp.

”Kid, count me in for this trip to Storm Cape.”

”I want to see for myself just how this so-called Light Holy See turns people into ’Angels.’”

With Gu’s promise, the great weight on Raylo’s heart finally lifted.

’A Catastrophe Level expert of unfathomable strength is coming with us!’

He finally had enough confidence for the journey to Storm Cape.

He refilled Gu’s empty cup, then raised his own in a toast to him.

”Then here’s to a successful journey for us.”

The banquet continued late into the night.

Otto III clearly had a great time drinking and had to be supported by several Knights on his way back to the tent prepared for him.

A Catastrophe Level expert like him wouldn’t actually get drunk; he could easily dispel the effects of the alcohol with his Fighting Spirit.

But Otto III evidently enjoyed the feeling of being tipsy, preferring to be so drunk he couldn’t walk straight rather than using his Power to clear the haze from his mind.

「The next morning.」

As the first rays of sunlight illuminated the silhouette of the Black Stone Mountain Range, the camp was already bustling with activity.

A colossal Cloud Sea Giant Whale was hovering silently in the open space outside the camp.

Its blue-and-white body was like a floating island, its broad, flat back large enough to accommodate hundreds of people.

Raylo stood at the very front of the whale’s back, the morning breeze fluttering the corners of his clothes.

At his feet, Sun, Moonlight, and Lightning were curiously running back and forth, occasionally pawing at the whale’s rough skin.

Behind them, the three Domain Level Giants—Kado, Gordo, and Ug—stood like three iron towers.

And of course, there was Great Elder Gu, his hands clasped behind his back, still dressed like an old farmer.

”Nephew Raylo!”

Otto III’s voice came from below.

He was riding the thousand-meter-long Blazing Flame Giant Dragon as it slowly ascended.

”I still have some time, so I’m going to visit an old friend in the Black Stone Mountain Range.”

Otto III said in a resonant voice.

”There’s no need for us to travel together. Let’s just meet at Storm Cape.”

Raylo’s heart stirred, but he didn’t ask any questions.

”Alright. Then we’ll meet again at Storm Cape.”

”Hahaha, see you then!”

Otto III laughed heartily, steered the Blazing Flame Giant Dragon in a different direction, and turned into a streak of crimson light, flying toward the depths of the Black Stone Mountain Range before quickly disappearing over the horizon.

Raylo watched him go, lost in thought.

”My lord, shall we depart?”

Kado’s voice pulled Raylo back from his thoughts.

”Let’s go!”

Raylo ordered.

The Cloud Sea Giant Whale let out a long, ethereal cry. Its massive body began to accelerate, flying smoothly and swiftly in the direction of Storm Cape.
