Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 426: Chapter 364: ”Gu’s” Attention and the Hill Giant Gordo

”The craft used to forge these weapons...”

Gu’s voice was slow and deep, like an echo from the heart of a mountain.

”The blacksmiths of our city-state... are a far cry from this.”

The blacksmiths of the Giant City-State could also forge mighty weapons, but their work was a crude accumulation of brute force and experience—powerful, yet lacking in finesse.

But this Battle Hammer in his hands held a kind of craftsmanship they could not comprehend.

”Yes, Great Elder.”

The young Giant said, bowing his head.

”Master Iron Fist, the best blacksmith in the city-state, has also seen it. He said... he said it doesn’t look like something a Mortal could hammer out. It’s more like it grew directly out of a volcanic Melting Furnace.”

The Great Elder Gu’s gaze grew distant.

In his life of over a thousand years, he had spent several centuries roaming this vast world.

He had been to the deep seas, visited volcanoes and glaciers, and even had a fleeting encounter with the legendary Golden Giants.

But no matter which Giants he met or which master artisan he encountered, he had never seen a Forging style like this.

These two Giant brothers, who claimed to be wanderers, clearly had their own secrets.

A long silence fell over the stone hall, broken only by the crackling of the flames in the brazier.

The young Giant stood below, feeling the invisible pressure emanating from the Great Elder. Even his breathing became cautious.

He didn’t know what the Great Elder was thinking, and he certainly didn’t dare to disturb him.

After a long while, Gu finally moved.

He gently placed the Double-Headed Warhammer on the stone platform beside him, which made a heavy, muffled thud.

His eyes, as placid as an old well, turned back to the young Giant. All traces of doubt had vanished, leaving only a steadfast calm as ancient as the mountains.

”It is no longer important. You may leave.”

The young Giant was taken aback for a moment, but he immediately accepted the order.

”Yes, Great Elder!”

After he departed, Gu was left alone in the vast stone hall.

Over a thousand years of life had taught him a very simple truth.

Everyone has their secrets, like a deep ocean trench; one doesn’t always need to probe its very bottom.

As the leader of the ancient Hill Giant race, what he needed to see clearly was not the secret itself, but whether the person who held it would bring a storm or a benefit.

From what he could see, these two new Giant brothers who had joined the city-state had brought a fair trade and masterfully crafted weapons that would allow their people to shed less blood.

These weapons would only enhance the Power of the Hill Giants, helping them to better survive in a world fraught with danger.

That was enough.

As for where those weapons came from, that didn’t matter.

Forcibly prying into someone’s secrets is often the beginning of a disaster.

The rock-solid lines of Gu’s mouth seemed to soften ever so slightly.

’Besides, when it came to secrets, who in this city-state had more than he did?’

’For instance, among more than two thousand Hill Giants, why was he the only one to have reached the Catastrophe Level?’

Gu closed his eyes, sinking into his memories.

The waters of the Canglan River were swift and turbulent. Murky waves crashed against the reefs on the bank, letting out a dull roar.

A simple raft, fashioned from a dozen giant logs tied together, drifted like a lone boat toward the Endless Forest Sea on the opposite bank.

The two Giants, Kado and Gordo, sat cross-legged on the raft.

Raylo, however, stood leisurely at the front, his robes fluttering loudly in the river wind.

From time to time, massive shadows swam through the river’s depths—powerful Aquatic Magical Beasts that inhabited the Canglan River.

Sensing the terrifying aura of the Giants on the raft, they all dove into deeper waters, not daring to cause trouble.

Soon, the raft reached the shore.

A thick scent of plants, soil, and humus washed over them.

They had arrived at the Endless Forest Sea.

As far as the eye could see, there was a boundless ocean of green.

Towering ancient trees, each so wide it would take dozens of people to encircle, rose from the ground. Their massive canopies blotted out the sky, slicing the sunlight into fragmented patches that scattered sparsely upon the thick layer of fallen leaves.

The light within the forest was dim, filled with a primal and savage atmosphere.

Raylo looked up at the canopy that almost completely obscured the sky, his gaze profound.

”Our target is the Wind God Winged Dragon. They are the patrollers of this forest sea.”

Wind God Winged Dragons are pack-based Magical Beasts. They serve the Jade Dragon Emperor, and their task is to patrol the vast territory on the outskirts of the Endless Forest Sea.

This meant that as long as they waited patiently, the dragons would eventually pass by.

Raylo’s plan was simple: wait for the prey to come to them.

The three of them found a relatively high hill on the edge of the forest sea.

The view here was wide, allowing them to both overlook the vast forest below and easily observe any movement in the sky. It was a perfect spot for a temporary camp.

Kado and Gordo were extremely capable. Before long, they had easily processed several giant trees, building a crude but Solid shelter.

The division of labor was clear: Kado and Gordo took turns keeping watch at night.

However, no matter how good the plan, reality was often disappointing.

「Two days passed.」

Aside from the occasional Low Tier bird flying past, they hadn’t seen so much as a single feather of a Wind God Winged Dragon in the sky.

By the campfire, Kado scratched his short beard in frustration. He slapped his thigh with a hand the size of a millstone, making a dull THUD.

”Carlo, if we wait any longer, my bones are going to rust!”

He looked over at Raylo, who was resting with his eyes closed.

”Carlo, there are plenty of Magical Beasts in this forest. How about I go hunt a few? It’s better than sitting here and growing moldy.”

Raylo opened his eyes, looked at Kado’s eager expression, and couldn’t help but smile.
