Affinity: Chaos

Chapter 1741: Avoid Her At All Costs!

Pyro World.

Unlike the Crescent Moon Faction, which only had about a few hundred people in the Hall while the evaluation was taking place, there were thousands of people currently seated in the

arena.

This was the last part of the competition, and the top ten would be decided. Grey was already the number one person in the Seventh stage even though his cultivation was only in the Sixth stage, giving him a spot in the top ten, the tenth spot. He came here this time with the hope of being able to acquire a high-grade space elemental treasure. He had already gotten the darkness elemental treasure after easily fulfilling the previous deal, and although he hadnʼt been given the item yet, he knew Lord Dante wouldnʼt go back on his words.

However, when he heard the position the old man wanted him to get, even he couldnʼt help but curse this black-hearted old man. Although he was extremely confident in his abilities, and he didnʼt even fear Eighth stage Sovereigns, there was still a gap between them and a Ninth stage Sovereign.

Getting into the top five means he practically has to compete with one of the top experts in the Ninth stage. Of course, he was eager to see just what the limit to his current ability was, but he didnʼt have the utmost confidence that heʼd be able to defeat them. In a life-and-death battle, there might be a chance, but since itʼs a sparring session, he wouldnʼt dare to use his ultimate techniques for fear of killing the other party. Even when some opportunities present themselves where he could go for the kill, the situation doesnʼt give him that chance.

He furrowed his brows and fell deep in thoughts. The truth is, he needed this treasure since he wanted to deepen his understanding of the space element. If he relied solely on his own abilities, although he was a hundred percent confident that he would be able to awaken his space domain, he didnʼt know how long it would take. Given the current state of the world, and since the Gnomes wanted him dead, itʼs easy to see just why he was anxious to grow his strength.

His father might be very powerful, but that doesnʼt mean that heʼll be able to always protect him. As long as someone kept his father busy, then Greyʼs death is almost certain. In fact, he rarely even spends time with his father, so there was no need for anyone to even bother taking the trouble to hold his father back. A good enough ambush will be enough to kill Grey.

Thinking about all this, he accepted the deal with hesitation. Besides, given all his means, thereʼs a chance that he might be able to forcibly enter the top five. Even if itʼs just the fifth spot, he didnʼt care.

Looking at those Ninth stage Sovereign present, he squinted his eyes and studied all of them. He didnʼt want to carelessly challenge anyone, but he also didnʼt want to challenge someone too weak that would make others covet his position. As long as he could beat someone who most of these people wouldnʼt dare to fight, then he was confident that he would be able to retain his position with no one daring to fight him.

As he was staring at the Ninth stage Sovereigns, his eyes unconsciously landed on the body of a young lady. He couldnʼt help but show a surprised look. He felt like he had seen her before, but the reason he was surprised wasnʼt the sense of familiarity but when his eyes made contact with the young lady, he felt a faint feeling of pressure.

Other than the old fogeys he had met who were at the very Peak of the Ninth stage and the Half-God Plane experts he had encountered, this young lady was one of the few people who had actually given him this feeling of pressure.

Greyʼs intuition was very sharp, and after making some mental calculations, he felt that his chances of defeating the other party were a meager ten percent. His expression darkened at the thought of this. Ten percent!

He was confident that against most Ninth stage Sovereigns, he had at least a thirty to forty percent chance of victory. Yet against this young lady, his chances were only ten. If he had been told this by someone else, he wouldʼve reprimanded the person, but this was his own intuition. He hadnʼt even seen this young lady make a move and he already had such thoughts. ʼI must avoid her at all costs!ʼ

Usually, Greyʼs always the one people want to avoid in competitions like these. Yet for the first time, he has seen someone who could almost be said to be within the range of people he could fight that he didnʼt dare to want to fight. Itʼs not that he was cowardly, and if forced he would put up a fight, but in such a competition, with what was at stake, he didnʼt dare to be careless.

The number of Ninth stage Sovereign geniuses in the Pyro Faction was more than those in the Crescent Moon Faction. There are seven Ninth stage Sovereigns currently standing on the platform, none of them showing any signs of making a move. Two other peak Eighth stage Sovereigns were also standing there. This naturally represented the top nine. If Grey wanted to enter the top five, he would need to defeat a Ninth stage Sovereign. He wasnʼt interested in either of the two Eighth stage Sovereigns.

Apparently, although this stage was the most intense, it was also the shortest. In most cases, these people rarely sparred since they all knew each otherʼs strengths.

Grey got up from where he was seated and appeared on the platform. There was no need for him to take the steps since everyone knew he had the space element; he just decided to use it. His sudden appearance on the platform attracted the gaze of everyone present as they all wondered what he wanted to do this time. The last time he stepped up, an earthshaking battle ensued. However this time, most people felt like he would be the one challenged. After all, he was the only one in the Sixth stage of the Sovereign Plane. There were a few Eighth stage Sovereigns eyeing his position.
