Chapter 444: Chapter 444: The Secret of the Ancient Dark Dragon Clan’s Fall

”It seems that you, the Dark Dragon Clan, have suffered a great defeat in this battle...” Ye Yun sighed softly.

From the claws of the Dark Heavenly Dragon, he had witnessed that earth-shattering battle.

The mysterious Blood-colored Broken Sword sealed by the Ancestor Dragon was the direct culprit behind the Dark Dragon Clan army’s collapse.

However, the spirit from the Divine King Realm who could control the Blood-colored Broken Sword seemed quite familiar with it.

”This Cloud Trace Cave seems to originate from an even more ancient era. After I escaped into it, I waged a great war against the spirits. Although I ultimately eradicated them, I also sustained extremely severe injuries,” the Dark Divine Dragon spoke again.

”Why didn’t you return to the Cangnan Continent?” Ye Yun asked.

”Do you think we didn’t want to?” The Dark Divine Dragon suddenly gave a desolate laugh and said helplessly, ”At that time, the contingent of clan members I led fled to the entrance of the Ancient Road to Heaven. We had originally intended to return to the Dragon Hidden Continent to seek aid from other Dragon Clans.

”But unexpectedly, under a clear sky in broad daylight, seven large stars suddenly materialized in the heavens. A formation descended from them, sealing off the Ancient Road to Heaven. Left with no alternative, we were forced to flee towards Divine Land once more.”

Upon hearing the Dark Divine Dragon’s words, Ye Yun’s expression changed dramatically.

”Seven large stars, did they form a Seven-star formation?” he asked urgently.

”Yes!” the Dark Divine Dragon stated decisively.

Ye Yun frowned. He had never imagined that the Seven Star Grand Array would reappear in that great war of the Ancient Times. However, this Seven Star Grand Array did not directly participate in the battle to exterminate the Dragon Clan. It merely sealed off the entrance to the Ancient Road to Heaven. Consequently, those Dark Dragon Clans could never return to the Cangnan Continent in this life. What awaited them... was only the endless pursuit by the spirits of Divine Land.

”At that time, I was gravely injured and hid in Cloud Mark Cave for fifty thousand years,” the Dark Divine Dragon sighed and continued. ”Later, I secretly ventured to the entrance of the Ancient Road to Heaven, only to find the grand array still present. So, I returned to Cloud Mark Cave. Due to the severity of my injuries, I eventually perished. What you see now is merely the will I left behind before my demise, a will that remained within the seal.”

”The Ancient Road to Heaven is now free of that Seven Star Grand Array,” Ye Yun said softly.

”I surmised as much long ago. By the time a successor capable of breaking the Black Stone Seal arrived, I feared that all the Dark Dragon Clan members remaining in Divine Land had already perished.” The Dark Divine Dragon’s expression was sorrowful.

”What is your request?” Ye Yun asked.

”The Black Stone Treasury represents my life’s accumulation; it can take you far on your cultivation path. My sole request is for you to return to the Cangnan Continent, enter the Sumeru Dark Realm, and rescue my own younger brother from imprisonment.” As the Dark Divine Dragon spoke of this, a flicker of emotion touched his eyes.

”Your younger brother?” Ye Yun asked, slightly taken aback.

”Yes, my brother once offended Lord Dark Heavenly Dragon and was imprisoned. At that time, to pursue those spirits from Moon Star, the Dark Dragon Clan mobilized its full strength... I imagine that by now, the Sumeru Dark Realm must be completely deserted, apart from my brother in that prison.” The Dark Divine Dragon looked at Ye Yun, his eyes filled with entreaty.

”After all these years, could he still be alive?” Ye Yun asked quietly.

”Before being imprisoned, my brother was already an expert at the Half-step God King Realm. Moreover, dragons have long lifespans; he should still be alive,” the Dark Divine Dragon stated, his eyes gleaming with confidence.

After speaking, he seemed to recall something and added, ”The Black Stone Treasury contains the key to that prison’s seal. If you enter the Sumeru Dark Realm and find my brother is no longer there, then your task will be considered complete.”

”I understand.” Ye Yun nodded gently, a sense of sympathy stirring within him at that moment.

This Dark Divine Dragon, one of the Eight Great Black Dragon Kings, had been an incredibly illustrious figure in his past life. Yet, for the sake of his younger brother, he held onto such a persistent desire even at the brink of death. It was astounding that the entire Dark Dragon Clan had mobilized to pursue the spirits who invaded Moon Star and reclaim the Blood-colored Broken Sword sealed by the Ancestor Dragon. Ye Yun hadn’t anticipated such dedication. It appeared this Dark Dragon Clan was fiercely loyal to the Ancestor Dragon. Even after the Ancestor Dragon vanished, they were willing to pay any price to retrieve the Blood-colored Broken Sword that the spirits had seized. However, the spirits of Divine Land were exceedingly cunning. A Divine King wielded the Blood-colored Broken Sword to gravely wound the Dark Heavenly Dragon, ultimately causing their campaign to end in failure.

”I accept your request. This Sumeru Dark Realm... where is it located on the Dragon Hidden Continent?” Ye Yun asked.

”In the center of the Dragon Hidden Continent, deep within the sky. There is a token inside the Black Stone Treasury that will grant you entry,” the Dark Divine Dragon replied.

”I understand.” Ye Yun nodded.

”I am but a wisp of will, soon to dissipate,” the Dark Divine Dragon said, his voice now noticeably weaker. ”I am delighted that you can inherit my Black Stone Treasury. If I’m not mistaken, the affinity I feel towards you is because you also possess the Dragon God Bloodline, correct?”

It seemed the energy within this wisp of will was also beginning to wane.

”I do indeed possess the Dragon Clan’s bloodline,” Ye Yun said with a sigh, looking at the Black Dragon in mid-air and giving a gentle wave.

He knew that this wisp of the Dark Divine Dragon’s will, which had persisted for millions of years, was about to vanish completely.

”I am so happy!” Joy suddenly suffused the Dark Divine Dragon’s eyes. After uttering these words, his dark form began to dissipate.

It dissipated rapidly.

In the blink of an eye, the massive dragon form vanished without a trace.

”This...” Liu Yiyi, who had witnessed everything from the side, could not suppress her profound shock.

She had never imagined such an astounding secret lay hidden within Cloud Trace Cave.

”Brother Yun, are you returning to the Cangnan Continent?” Liu Yiyi’s heart tightened as she recalled the Dark Divine Dragon’s final request, and she asked hurriedly.

”I do need to make a trip back.” Ye Yun nodded gently, turned, and smiled at her.

Various clues still lay hidden on the Cangnan Continent, and the three juniors of the Dragon God Sect had yet to fully mature. Coupled with the Dark Divine Dragon’s entrustment, he had to return, no matter what.

Liu Yiyi’s face turned pale with fright. ”Brother Yun,” she exclaimed, ”the Cangnan Continent has a terrifying curse! If you go back, your cultivation base will be forever stagnant at your current realm!”

”Don’t worry,” Ye Yun shrugged, offering a light smile. ”I possess the Dragon Clan’s bloodline; that kind of curse is useless against me.”

”Brother Yun,” Liu Yiyi sighed, ”as someone from the Cangnan Continent who has been in Divine Land for a hundred years, if I were to return to the Cangnan Continent, I would be cursed. My cultivation base would be unable to advance for the rest of my life. Therefore, I cannot accompany you there.”

Back then, when she first learned this news, it was like a bolt from the blue.

People from Divine Land were only immune to the curse for a hundred years.

Once she broke through to the True God realm, she lost her eligibility to return to the Cangnan Continent.

”You don’t need to go. The spiritual energy in Divine Land contains Divine Nature. It’s better for you to stay in the Daluo Region and cultivate in seclusion. Perhaps I’ll come to see you sometime.” Ye Yun reached out and gently stroked her soft, beautiful face.

He didn’t tell Liu Yiyi the secret of the curse. Because Ye Yun believed that since Liu Yiyi was on the verge of breaking through to the Divine Sovereign Realm, it was better for her to remain and cultivate at the Jianyun Sect in the Daluo Region. For an expert at the Half-step Divine Sovereign Realm who had cultivated for a hundred thousand years, a decade or even a century of secluded cultivation would pass in the blink of an eye. By that time, Ye Yun would have already nurtured the three juniors of the Dragon God Sect. Simultaneously, he would have largely unraveled the plots of the masterminds operating on the Cangnan Continent.
