Checking in for 100,000 Years

Chapter 434: Chapter 434: Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls

”Let’s go. Lead the way!” Ye Yun said, smiling at one of the Divine Pets.

”Yes, Master!”

The Divine Pet, quite obedient, shimmered and instantly transformed into a black shadow, flying off into the distance. Ye Yun, dragging the Dark Dragon Claw, followed at a steady pace.

The other Divine Pets yawned one by one and returned to their places, and tranquility was restored. After all, they had little interest in the Undead Divine Pets. Especially since just smelling that Super Divine Dragon Breath made them uncomfortable.

After flying for a while, they quickly reached their destination. The black space was primarily permeated by a layer of white death aura. Amidst the white death aura, there were also patches of black, green, and other colored death auras. Divine Pets of various sizes lay amidst these death auras, seemingly asleep.

Ye Yun glanced around and found, to his surprise, there were over ten thousand of these Undead Divine Pets.

I can’t help but shake my head and laugh bitterly, he thought. The Divine Pets accumulated from signing in over one hundred thousand years are simply too numerous. I can barely remember how many Divine Pets I own. I only have a general impression of their numbers.

”Hey, hey! All of you, get up! The Master is here,” the leading Divine Pet roared loudly upon reaching the vicinity of the death aura.

This sound reverberated, causing the stagnant death aura to churn violently. At that moment, all the Undead-type Divine Pets opened their eyes. An even more intense death aura erupted from their bodies.

Ye Yun’s nose twitched; the foul stench of the death aura was palpable.

No wonder the other Divine Pets had driven them to this place, allocating them a separate area, he mused.

”Master, you’ve finally come, esteemed elder!” A massive white Bone Dragon flew over from the distance and prostrated itself at Ye Yun’s feet, appearing to weep uncontrollably.

”Master, you’re here! We’ve finally been able to see you!”

”Yes! Master, we finally get to see you, a living person!”

All the Undead Divine Pets grew agitated, scrambling to fly out from within. A dense crowd of them gathered around, each one both incredibly excited and weeping profusely. These Undead Divine Pets came in all shapes and sizes. Some even carried coffin lids on their backs or had withered trees atop their heads, looking exceedingly strange.

”What’s wrong?” Ye Yun asked with a smile. ”Aren’t you happy that I’ve come? Why is everyone crying with such long faces?”

”Master, we Undead Divine Pets have no status at all in this warehouse. We normally don’t dare to go out, so it’s been such a long time since we last saw you,” the white Bone Dragon said, its face a mask of sorrow.

”I’ll come more often in the future.” Hearing the white Bone Dragon’s lament, Ye Yun seemed to realize something. He took a deep breath and comforted it with a smile.

”Master, can you take us out with you?” the white Bone Dragon asked, lifting its head, its expression pitiable as it looked at Ye Yun with hopeful eyes.

Although it was entirely made of bones and lacked a physical body of flesh, I can still discern a certain expression in its empty eye sockets, Ye Yun thought. This feeling is quite peculiar.

”Not yet,” Ye Yun said, shaking his head and firmly refusing. ”This world is quite fragile. Most of you are at too high a level; you cannot appear.”

Many of the Divine Pets in the warehouse were of exceptionally high levels. Moreover, their strength couldn’t be classified using this world’s Cultivation Stages.

Their starting points were different, Ye Yun considered. In other words, their life levels were not on the same tier.

”This is the claw of a Dark Heavenly Dragon. It has been under a Seal for several million years and has become an Undead creature. I’ll give it to you.” Ye Yun gave a sharp tug on the iron chain in his hand, pulling the Dark Dragon Claw over.

”Goodness, Master! This Dark Heavenly Dragon even had its claw chopped off? Isn’t that a bit too tragic?” the white Bone Dragon exclaimed upon seeing the Dark Dragon Claw.

Ye Yun didn’t answer directly, but said thoughtfully, ”Just take good care of it. This little fellow is somewhat rebellious and not in its right mind...”

”Rest assured, Master,” the white Bone Dragon said, patting its chest. ”I will definitely discipline it properly.”

”Master, if the Bone Dragon can’t do it, there’s still us! We have so many Undead Divine Pets; are we afraid we can’t tame one tiny Dragon Claw?” the other Divine Pets chimed in enthusiastically.

Ye Yun chuckled. He suddenly remembered the black Death Qi in the Black Sky Burial Ground. Leaving it there would be a waste, he thought. It would be better to let the Divine Pets here absorb it.

”There’s a lot of Death Qi outside. Who among you has the ability to absorb it all?” Ye Yun asked, looking around.

”Master, I can!”

”Me too!”

The moment he finished speaking, several thousand Divine Pets immediately jumped out. Ye Yun scanned them and found that most were of too high a level to appear outside. He searched carefully and finally selected a peculiar-looking Divine Pet. It was called the Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls. It possessed an incredibly powerful devouring ability and specialized in consuming various types of undead-related energies.

After Ye Yun gave it a few simple instructions, he left the warehouse with the Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls. The other Divine Pets watched them go with envious gazes.

This Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls was round like a ball. However, when it attacked, its entire body would bristle with sharp spikes. These spikes were highly venomous and could be used for both close-quarters combat and as projectiles for ranged attacks.

”Brother Yun?” A red shadow flashed, and Liu Yiyi flew to Ye Yun’s side from a distance. She found Ye Yun staring blankly, seemingly lost in thought, and wondered what was on his mind. And the enormous black Dragon Claw from before is nowhere to be seen, she noted.

”Oh, Yiyi, you’re here?” Ye Yun snapped back to reality and smiled at Liu Yiyi.

”Yes...” Liu Yiyi nodded. Before she could speak, she was suddenly amazed to see a black light float up from Ye Yun’s wrist. It transformed in mid-air into a black sphere approximately ten feet in diameter.

At first, I thought it was just a black sphere, Liu Yiyi mused, but looking closely, it’s actually a very strange demon beast. I’ve never seen anything like it.

”Master, is this the place?” The Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls floated in mid-air, looking down at the Black Sky Burial Ground. Sensing the dense Death Qi, it showed extreme excitement.

”Yes, this is it!” Ye Yun gave a slight nod.

”Alright!” The Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls shouted excitedly. Its round body suddenly swelled dramatically, instantly growing from its original ten-foot size to one hundred feet.

WHOOSH!

The Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls opened its massive mouth and took a deep breath, inhaling sharply from below. A mystical force seemed to emanate from its mouth, pulling the black, mist-like Death Qi into it like a great river. Its body also began to expand at a rate visible to the naked eye.

One hundred feet, one thousand feet, ten thousand feet...

It only stopped after expanding to a full one hundred thousand feet. At this moment, its colossal figure, vast enough to cover the sky, floated in mid-air—an incredibly terrifying sight.

Within a mere quarter of an hour, all the billowing black fog in the Black Sky Burial Ground had been completely devoured by the Devouring Beast of Shadow Souls.

”`This...?`” Liu Yiyi stared at the scene in utter disbelief.
