Chaotic Sword God

Even though he had lost the upper hand, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy did not panic at all. As the area he occupied grew smaller and smaller, the power of the soul that infiltrated Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness became more and more concentrated as well.

In the end, when the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s powers only occupied ten percent of the sea of consciousness, the three sovereign god artifacts were unable to advance any further.

With the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s strength, perhaps he could not hold onto too much territory under the suppression of the three sovereign god artifacts. After all, the more space he occupied, the more strength he would exhaust. Under regular circumstances, this was a negligible detail, but as he faced the three sovereign god artifacts, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy was already using his full strength. He needed to make use of every bit of his strength appropriately.

By guarding a tenth of the sea of consciousness, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy managed to maintain a stalemate with the three sovereign god artifacts.

“We have to keep him trapped. We can’t let him escape. If we can destroy this person in master’s sea of consciousness and then let master devour the power of his soul, master’s soul will definitely develop rapidly…”

“Yeah, this is a Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt. His soul is far too powerful. Even if master can only absorb a small portion, that’ll make a qualitative change…”

“This Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt is far too stupid. Why’d he think of possessing Jian Chen? If he went after Jian Chen outside with his advantage in comprehension, then Jian Chen would truly be in a tough position. Even the three of us won’t stand any chance. Yet, he just had to choose a hopeless path. This path is a path of no return…”

The three sovereign god artifacts communicated.

Outside, apart from the twin swords that had lost their physical bodies, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy definitely could not destroy any of these sovereign god artifacts. He would not even be able to harm them, as sovereign god artifacts were far too tough. They had already left behind a legend in history where only Grand Exalts could break them.

However, being unbreakable did not mean they could not be taken away.

Feeble sovereign god artifacts were like a rock. They were impenetrable, but they could be easily taken away. Some stronger Immortal Exalts could even achieve that with great ease.

This was particularly true with the Source of Life. As a sovereign god artifact that primarily focused on recovery, it would have an extremely tough time against peak Immortal Exalts even if it were in its peak condition, let alone now, unable to avoid the fate of being overwhelmed in the very end.

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy could clearly hear all of the conversations between the artifact spirits in the sea of consciousness.

“Hmph, you once possessed paramount glory, possessing the strength to overwhelm worlds, yet in your current state, you can’t even overpower me.” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy snorted coldly. He had already seen through the situation with the three sovereign god artifacts. Let alone being in his peak condition, even if he only occupied the Soul Guarding Ancestor’s body, he could forcefully take the three sovereign god artifacts away with him using his advantage in cultivation and comprehension.

The three sovereign god artifacts were far too weak compared to his peak condition. Perhaps they could fend off early Immortal Exalts with their powers as sovereign god artifacts, but they would lose their advantage before mid Immortal Exalts.

As for late Immortal Exalts, they would be even more powerless.

In the next moment, a black flame silently appeared inside the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul. As the fire burned, his presence swelled. The disadvantageous situation of being suppressed by the three sovereign god artifacts immediately turned around. His territory rapidly grew to twenty percent, and then it increased to thirty percent of the sea of consciousness, followed by even more.

“He’s burning the power of his soul. Hmph, he can’t last much longer!” The Primeval artifact spirit snorted coldly.

“Source of Life, you better keep a close eye on him. Don’t let him escape!” Zi Ying instructed sternly.

......

…

In the outside world, Jian Chen was like a statue, sitting there without budging at all. Xing Caijian sat thirty metres away from him with her full attention, personally watching over Jian Chen and chasing away all troublemakers.

Even further away was the Heavenloss Master, Zuo Dao, and a few scattered Immortal Exalts who refused to leave.

At this moment, everyone’s gazes focused on Jian Chen, filled with envy, jealousy, reluctancy, pity, and various other mixed emotions.

However, without any exception, no one present could sense the precarious battle of possession that Jian Chen currently experienced.

That was because the person behind it was the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy, a peak Seventh Heavenly Layer expert who had incredible mastery over the Way of Souls. Under the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s intentional concealment, even some mid Immortal Exalts would struggle to sense any abnormalities unless they proactively looked for them, let alone a group of early Immortal Exalts.

As for the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star, it could sense the existence of the twin swords as a form of familiarity with its peers, but it could not see inside Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness.

After all, the Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star was only the artifact spirit of a sword. Despite possessing devastating power, it was not omnipotent.

The silent battle inside Jian Chen’s sea of consciousness had already developed to a white-hot intensity. The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy forced back the three artifact spirits with the great power he had obtained by igniting his soul.

Jian Chen did not idle around. He understood that he stood no chance against an expert like the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy with the strength of his soul, so he used the chaotic soul.

A wisp of true Chaotic Force had fused with his soul, making it undergo an unbelievable transformation. If it were not for his chaotic soul, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy would have completed the possession almost instantly in the very beginning.

At this moment, he brought his chaotic soul forward from behind, standing at the front lines to half the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s advancing steps.

Faced with the chaotic soul, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy still felt like he was stuck in mud despite the power he had obtained from burning his soul. The difficulty of his infiltration increased greatly.

In the end, Jian Chen even brought out the five strands of Profound Sword Qi. Even though he knew that he could not harm a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert with the Profound Sword Qi given the strength of his soul, that was all he was capable of in the sea of consciousness.

Only techniques connected to the soul could be used in the sea of consciousness. Techniques like the Shadowless Lifetaking Strike and the Hundred Superimposition Sword could not be used.

However, when Jian Chen tried using the first strand of Profound Sword Qi, he discovered in surprise that it actually erased a small portion of the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s power of the soul.

In the outside world, Jian Chen knew that even if he used all five strands, he would struggle to affect an expert like the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy, let alone injure him.

But in his sea of consciousness, the Profound Sword Qi actually had an unexpected effect.

“An Immortal Emperor ant can actually harm me? What is this power?” The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy was surprised as well. He immediately noticed the Profound Sword Qi. Upon recalling it, he sighed. “The Profound Sword Qi. It’s actually that legendary technique. It’s said that with nine strands of Profound Sword Qi unleashed, even Grand Exalts can be injured. In the current Immortals’ World, there aren’t a lot of people left who can still recognise this technique.”

But very soon, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s face contorted. He said coldly, “No matter who you are or how impressive your legacy is, once I possess you, it’ll all be mine…”

That was what he said, but the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy gradually seemed to run out of strength. The great power he obtained by burning his soul had been successfully repelled by Jian Chen and the three artifact spirits. The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy could not maintain this state for too long either, so he stopped burning his soul very soon.

By now, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy had already become exhausted. He demonstrated hints of feebleness.

“Source of Life, stop being so stingy. In the sea of consciousness, you have a greater effect than both us and Primeval. Use this opportunity to suppress this person!” Zi Ying called out.

“Hmph, dammit. I’ve already exhausted too much of my power on this person.” The Source of Life was displeased. It hesitated.

But in the next moment, it made use of the bit of Myriad Source Qi it had managed to accumulate over the years after so much difficulty.

When the presence of the Myriad Source Qi appeared, Jian Chen’s expression immediately changed. He understood exactly how important the Myriad Source Qi was to the Source of Life. Even back then, when a Grand Exalt like the Wind Venerable was around, the Source of Life had been extremely protective over the Myriad Source Qi. In the end, it only ended up compromising after being promised a strand of Primeval Qi in exchange.

Not only could Myriad Source Qi repair god artifacts, but it was also a power that the Source of Life required to heal itself.

As the Myriad Source Qi was exhausted, the Source of Life’s presence immediately swelled, immediately overwhelming the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy in an almost-overwhelming manner while he was feeble.

The Primeval artifact spirit and the twin swords cooperated with their full strength as well. Jian Chen also used another two strands of Profound Sword Qi, trying to strike while the iron was hot and suppress the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy in one fell stroke.

Under their combined efforts, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul was reduced to just one hundredth of the sea of consciousness, but after that point, they could not advance any further no matter what they tried.

“In our current state, it’ll be very difficult to completely eliminate a Seventh Heavenly Layer expert in the sea of consciousness. We’ll suppress him first and then wear him down slowly,” said the Primeval artifact spirit. Afterwards, it turned into the figure of a colossal divine hall, setting down on top of the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s soul with tremendous force.

The Source of Life had already exhausted its Myriad Source Qi, and its presence returned to normal. Together with the twin swords, it joined in on the team that suppressed the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy.

PS: Recently, there have been readers who say that Xiaoyao has written the three sovereign god artifacts on Jian Chen to be a little weak. Here is a rough explanation. The Divine Sword of the Heavenly Star is in perfect shape, and it has the power of a heavenly emperor. In simple words, it is powered by the energy of the heavenly emperor.

Jian Chen’s three sovereign god artifacts are all in feeble states. They are using the power of the god artifacts themselves, while their opponent is a peak Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, which is why they’re having such a difficult time. A Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt is already an impressive figure who stands at the apex. Please do not underestimate the Seventh Heavenly Layer.

Last of all, I’d like to thank the readers for their comments in the comments section, and I also hope that there will be more comments in the future. Let us propel Chaotic Sword God forward together.
