Chaotic Sword God

As the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy used his secret technique, a mysterious and eerie power pierced through space, bypassing all the formations cast down by the Immortal Exalts and silently striking Jian Chen’s soul.

The verdant barrier from the Source of Life had remained the entire time in Jian Chen’s soul. It had never lowered its defences. When the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s secret technique struck, it immediately shook the verdant barrier.

“It’s happened again. Soul attacks at this strength can instantly kill that demonic cultivator,” the Source of Life called out. This was no longer a regular soul attack, but a secret technique of rather high quality. It was extremely powerful.

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy stared at Jian Chen closely. Shortly afterwards, a hint of surprise appeared in his eyes. He noticed that Jian Chen had only furrowed his brows. It did not have much of an effect on him.

“Don’t tell me this kid even has a treasure that can block soul attacks?”

“But what kind of treasure can stop my secret techniques numerous times?”

The Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s gaze deepened. He knew that Jian Chen possessed a sovereign god artifact that could hold several tens of thousand people, but a sovereign god artifact like that was completely incapable of stopping soul attacks.

Different kinds of god artifacts came with different functions after all.

“Since I can’t directly destroy your soul, I’ll have to take another method,” the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy thought. He did not show himself or take part in the encirclement around Jian Chen. Instead, he remained in hiding. Apart from Jian Chen, no one in the Skyscraping World knew that a Seventh Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt was present.

At this moment, Jian Chen’s presence grew weaker and weaker while he remained trapped in the formations. His recovery speed slowed down as well.

All of the Immortal Exalts who took part in the assault became excited. They had already noticed that Jian Chen could not last much longer.

“No, something is off. Since this kid has a sovereign god artifact, why isn’t he hiding inside? With the sturdiness of a sovereign god artifact, it’s more than enough to block our attacks,” a Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt calmed down and asked.

“So what if he hides in the sovereign god artifact? We might not be able to get through the sovereign god artifact, but we’re completely capable of taking a damaged sovereign god artifact away with us. If he goes inside, wouldn’t he become a sitting duck?”

“Damaged? How are you certain that the sovereign god artifact is damaged?”

“Hmph, if it weren’t damaged, why would he be so overwhelmed with the power of a sovereign god artifact?”

“In the Immortals’ World, just how many sovereign god artifacts that remain are still undamaged?”

A few Immortal Exalts stated their analysis, but most of them were no longer capable of calming down and thinking closely. Their intense greed and desires had made them lose their rationality.

Just how many people could remain composed when faced with a sovereign god artifact?

“You’re on the brink of death and you’re actually still thinking of refining the seed of ways. Looks like you’d rather die than leave the seed of ways behind. Hahaha, just how many people still care about the seed of ways right now…” An Immortal Exalt sneered.

The presence of the seed of ways had already diminished heavily inside the formations. After this difficult period of refinement, Jian Chen had absorbed less than one ten thousandth of the secrets of the Way of the Sword. However, the greatest benefit he derived was not the secrets of the Way of the Sword he had absorbed, but the fact that the seed of ways had greatly diminished.

By now, the range of presence from the seed of ways had already shrunken drastically.

“Even if I can’t absorb the seed of ways completely in a short amount of time, it’s still good news that it can’t radiate its presence so far away,” Jian Chen thought. With just a few more days, the Divine Formation of the Heavens could be activated again. He had already decided to do all that he could to wear down the seed of ways’ power before he used the Divine Formation of the Heavens.

As long as the presence of the seed of ways had weakened to a range of ten thousand kilometres, or even just a few thousand kilometres, it would be much easier for him to hide.

Suddenly, Jian Chen shivered inside. A familiar and tremendous power suddenly appeared in the distance. With this power’s appearance, the entire surroundings responded. A terrifying, blood-red light filled every inch of space, giving countless Immortal Exalts chills.

Jian Chen stopped refining the seed of ways. He subconsciously looked into the distance.

There, he sensed a familiar power.

The power of the Remains of the Ghost Immortal!

“It’s the vice cult leader of the Ghost Immortal cult, Lan Caidie. Everyone, be careful…”

“Vice cult leader Lan of the Ghost Immortal cult is also here to steal the sovereign god artifact. She only has enough to launch a single attack. Quick, everyone pour your strength together and block…”

“We can’t let Lan Caidie take the sovereign god artifact. She’s even stronger than you would imagine. Taking it from her will be far too difficult…”

It all happened in a split second. The power of the Remains of the Ghost Immortal arrived before everyone. An elderly figure stood within the surging, bloody mist, her hair and clothes dancing. She arrived in a domineering manner with a devilish presence.

With a wave of her hand, the surging, bloody mist immediately churned. It seemed to condense into a huge, bloody claw, swinging towards the formations with a devastating power.

The Immortal Exalts gathered here obviously would not just watch helplessly as Lan Caidie penetrated the formation. Everyone took action at the same time, either drawing their god artifacts or using secret techniques. Powerful attacks after powerful attacks shot through the air as resplendent streaks of light, slamming into the bloody claw fearlessly.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

A series of rumbles rang out in the surroundings. Close to forty Immortal Exalts struck out at the same time. The power was also devastating, but it was slightly weaker than the power of Lan Caidie’s Remains of the Ghost Immortal. It all shattered before the bloody claw.

However, the attacks weakened the bloody claw. The strikes from several dozen Immortal Exalts had failed to stop the bloody claw, but it had chipped away at its might.

In the distance, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s eyes shone. He did not take action.

Boom!

The bloody claw slammed into the formations. The sturdy formations immediately shattered one after another. In the blink of an eye, over a dozen of them had been destroyed. The violent storm of energy swept through the surroundings, forcing back all of the Immortal Exalts nearby.

However, Lan Caidie’s attack did not destroy all of the formations. When the power of the Remains of the Ghost Immortal dispersed, a final formation remained standing.

This formation was from the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy.

It was not due to how powerful the formation was, but because the Remains of the Ghost Immortal had used up too much of its power against the attacks of the Immortal Exalts.

At this moment, the formation left behind by the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy rocked violently. It dimmed as if it only needed one last push before crumbling.

Lan Caidie’s expression changed. After using the power of the Remains of the Ghost Immortal, she no longer had the strength to launch another strike.

“Fellow Yang Yutian, I’ve come to help set you free.” At this moment, another elderly voice rang out. The Heavenloss Master appeared. He gripped a high quality god artifact sword that erupted with blinding light, slashing at the final formation with his full strength.

Boom! With a rumble, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s formation rocked violently. Many thin cracks appeared, but it still endured the strike in the end.

“And my Divine Valley of the Nine Heavens!” A gruff voice rang out. Zuo Dao had also arrived, using a secret technique and directly punching out.

The punch was devastating. It was only from a First Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt, but it was enough to leave many Second Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts wary.

Under the Heavenloss Master and Zuo Dao’s attacks, the Ancestor of the Clear and Cloudy’s formation that was on the brink of collapse finally gave in. It shattered with a crack.

“Fellow Yang Yutian, go now. I’ll hold them back for you,” the Heavenloss Master growled. His eyes were filled with determination. With a wave of his hand, a gentle power directly pushed Jian Chen into the distance. Shortly afterwards, he raised his sword before him and said coldly, “As long as I’m still around, you can all forget about even touching a hair on fellow Yang Yutian. If you want to get to him, you better step over my corpse first.”

“Heavenloss Master, what’s gotten to you?” A Third Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt stared at the Heavenloss Master as if he had just seen a ghost.
