Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3976: Breakthrough Failed

At the time, the secret techniques left behind by the seven experts were indeed extremely powerful to Jian Chen. They could be regarded as powerful trump cards for Infinite Primes.

But now, Jian Chen had already reached the peak of Chaotic Prime, so these secret techniques were useless.

After a simple conversation with Su Le, Jian Chen left his sea of consciousness. He still had more important matters to tend to. He did not want to waste too much time here.

Jian Chen did not immediately agree to Su Le’s request to help her heal her soul.

With the resources he currently possessed, he could allow Su Le to heal substantially quickly, but it was still not time yet.

Even if he healed Su Le back to early Grand Prime in a short period of time, she would not be of much help to Jian Chen as just a soul.

Without a physical body, she could not even participate in the Divine Formation of the Heavens.

Jian Chen did not plan on reconstructing her body either.

After leaving his sea of consciousness, Jian Chen did not exit the Primeval Divine Hall. Instead, he went to the top floor. With a wave of his hand, numerous Space Rings appeared before him, and he picked up one of them. With a rattle, a great pile of jade boxes of various sizes slid out, piling up very quickly. Each jade box held heavenly resources of varying grades.

These were all spoils from the Skyscraping World. Not only did they contain the heavenly resources from the several dozen medicinal gardens he had plundered, but there was also the wealth of the fallen Immortal Exalts.

These heavenly resources had all been sorted through. Right now, the ones that Jian Chen took out were all God Tier heavenly resources for improving cultivation.

However, low grade God Tier formed the majority. There were even fewer mid and high grade God Tier heavenly resources.

“Low grade God Tier heavenly resources are already useless for me. I can only use resources at mid grade or higher.” Jian Chen glanced past the mountainous pile of heavenly resources. After a moment of thought, he quietly stowed away all of the low grade resources.

Immediately, more than half of the heavenly resources around him vanished.

“Back then in the Saints’ World, thanks to the Wind Venerable’s generosity, the half a piece of Chaotic Fruit of Ways pushed my chaotic neidan to the limits of the seventeenth layer. Although I’ve exhausted some Chaotic Force through my battles over the years, it’s still quite close to being full. I wonder if the resources in my possession are enough for me to break through to the last layer of the Chaotic Body in one stroke,” Jian Chen thought to himself. God Tier heavenly resources obviously came nowhere close to the Chaotic Fruit of Ways. The only advantage they possessed was quantity.

Fortunately, he possessed a tremendous amount of resources from the Skyscraping World. Coupled with the large amount of cultivation resources from the Heavenly Emperor of Sword Radiance, Jian Chen had the courage to attempt to break through to the eighteenth layer.

“Regardless of whether I succeed or not, I have to give it a try and probe out the eighteenth layer of the Chaotic Body.” Jian Chen went to work immediately. He began consuming the mid grade God Tier heavenly resources.

Immediately, the mid grade God Tier heavenly resources around Jian Chen were reduced one by one. He refined all of the heavenly resources at a terrifying rate. In the end, all of it turned into strands of Chaotic Force and merged into his dantian, entering his chaotic neidan.

Jian Chen’s chaotic neidan was being replenished bit by bit. He made gradual but steady progress towards filling it.

Cultivation was timeless. Completely submerged in cultivation, Jian Chen seemed to forget the concept of time, oblivious to the passing moments. He only knew that the heavenly resources he had taken out around him were reducing at a rapid rate. After who knew how long, the first batch of heavenly resources finally ran out.

Afterwards, he took out a second batch, also piling it around him. The resplendent, hazy light swallowed him.

Before he knew it, the second batch of heavenly resources had run out as well. Jian Chen repeated this with a third batch.

Jian Chen depleted his heavenly resources at a terrifying rate. The chaotic neidan in his dantian had become visibly larger, but the further he progressed, the slower it grew.

Upon growing in size, any addition to the radius would require even more Chaotic Force than before.

When Jian Chen checked his Space Ring again, he discovered that he had already run out of mid grade God Tier heavenly resources for increasing cultivation. He immediately took out another Space Ring and poured out a large number of bottles. They all contained mid grade God Tier pills that he had previously tidied through.

He picked up a jade bottle and poured over a dozen mid grade God Tier pills into his mouth at once.

Gradually, the jade bottles around Jian Chen diminished as well. In the end, he used up all of the mid grade God Tier pills on him for increasing cultivation.

At this moment, whether it was mid grade God Tier heavenly resources or pills, Jian Chen did not possess any more for increasing cultivation.

After exhausting so many heavenly resources, Jian Chen’s chaotic neidan finally showed signs of being full.

“God Tier heavenly resources just don’t come close to the Chaotic Fruit of Ways.” Silently observing the chaotic neidan in his dantian, Jian Chen sighed inside. After exhausting so many God Tier heavenly resources, the result did not even come close to a tenth of the half a piece of Chaotic Fruit of Ways.

Unfortunately, he no longer had any Chaotic Fruit of Ways on him. Even if the effects of these heavenly resources were almost insignificant, he could only continue like this reluctantly.

After hesitating for a short moment, Jian Chen silently took out two last Space Rings. One stored high grade God Tier heavenly resources, while the other contained high grade God Tier pills.

He continued consuming high grade God Tier pills and heavenly resources.

They were the only resources left on him that could increase his cultivation, as well as the batch with the highest quality.

The effects of the high grade God Tier pills outmatched mid grade God Tier pills. As they entered his belly, Jian Chen felt like a ball of fire had erupted inside his body. The surging energy flowed through his limbs before being rapidly converted into Chaotic Force.

Immediately, Jian Chen’s Chaotic Force began to grow at a rate that was several times faster than before.

The high grade God Tier heavenly resources rapidly decreased around Jian Chen, but he gradually began to frown. He discovered that the size of the chaotic neidan had clearly reached its limit already, but no matter how much Chaotic Force it absorbed, he did not go through the processes of shattering the neidan and reforging his body.

It felt like the chaotic neidan had suddenly become a bottomless hole. It could not be filled no matter what.

“From the first to the seventeenth layer of cultivating the Chaotic Body, the chaotic neidan would shatter at a time like this, so why isn’t it shattering when I’m trying to break through to the eighteenth layer? Don’t tell me the process of reaching the eighteenth layer is different from the seventeen other times before?” Jian Chen thought. He checked through his remaining resources. After making a tough decision, he continued refining them.

This time, he consumed his resources even more intensely than before. He swallowed the high grade God Tier pills several at a time. He was extremely imprudent.

The chaotic neidan that had grown to its limits in his dantian welcomed everything. No matter how much Chaotic Force was produced, it absorbed it all.

However, when Jian Chen used up half of his high grade God Tier heavenly resources, he finally noticed a slight change in the chaotic neidan. The chaotic neidan’s strength seemed to be increasing slowly at an undetectable rate.

The change in the chaotic neidan startled Jian Chen. He immediately stopped and checked his Chaotic Force. Shortly afterwards, his eyes lit up. He discovered that his Chaotic Force was indeed slightly stronger than back then in the Skyscraping World.

“I understand now. The chaotic neidan has reached the limit of Chaotic Force it can hold, but my Chaotic Force hasn’t reached the standard of breaking through to the eighteenth layer, which is why it hasn’t shattered yet.”

“Sure enough, the breakthrough to the eighteenth layer is different from before.”

Jian Chen stopped cultivating. He only had a third of the high grade God Tier heavenly resources and pills left. He had a very strong feeling that if he wanted to break through to the eighteenth layer, the resources he currently possessed were nowhere near enough.

Even if he used up all of the high grade God Tier resources, absorbed the five-coloured immortal crystals, and the mountainous piles of energy crystals inside the Energy-devouring Furnace, he still would not reach the eighteenth layer.

“I’ve failed to break through to the eighteenth layer, but I’m getting closer and closer. Looks like I need to continue collecting resources,” Jian Chen thought. At the same time, there was a hint of eagerness. His Chaotic Body had not broken through, but his Chaotic Force was slowly strengthening.
